My name is Jon and apparently I am new to ECF ;)
Great forums, and I am glad to have found it.

I have a lot of questions about "e cigarettes" I figured this would be the best place to get them answered. I am 19 and have been smoking since I was 16. Stated off on black and mind's, then switched to Marlboro reds. I just recently quit smoking (1 month ago to be exact) I quit because I am a fitness guru and training to try and become an NPC lightweight body builder. I had to stop an needed to stop. I haven't touched a cigarette or cigar in 1 month and I am very proud of myself for doing so well, I quit cold turkey.

My parents are smokers as well, my mom just got out of a very serious surgery and is now forced to stop smoking, and I'm glad she is, we all know smoking isn't good, but we do it anyways because we enjoy it. So my dad wasn't to quit smoking just so he can support her and follow the train. My parent's have been smoking ever since I can remember.

Anyways I would like some information on "e cigarettes" I have tried one but it wasn't nearly strong enough for me. Although I have been going strong without a cigarette I am dieing for one and have been since I stopped smoking.
So what helpful information can you provide me with about e cigarettes? Are they worth the money? Are they easy to get use to?
Just lay it all on me, I've done some researching but I want to hear about it from people who actually use them.

I look forward to get a lot of helpful information and tips.

Thanks
Jon

Hi Jon,

Looks like kids are getting smarter these days:) I also started when I was 16, and told myself I can quit anytime. 25 years later, I'm still smoking:( Well, at least until a month ago. I've been on a PV since, and it's working well so far. I've tried patches and gums, but the cravings were still there, perhaps not necessarily for the nicotine, but more for the act of smoking. But with the PV, I get both. And I can dial down the nic as I go along.

You will want to do your research first before buying, and this forum is the perfect place for that. I bought my first system at a mall kiosk and of course paid too much for it. I have a different set now (KR808), so the first is practically useless.

Quitting cold turkey is tough, but you are doing well already. Consider getting "tools" to make it easier, and soon you will be an ex-smoker. Good luck:)

I agree with the suggestion to read in the ECF library..also check out Where can I get a .......?", and Ask The Veterans

Ease of use depends on what you buy, some are more work then others but worth the fiddling! vaping is not just like smoking..it has a learning curve as you get used to the vapor and draw. I love it! Where else can you vape banana, chocolate and peppermint?
I smoked for 37 years and took to vaping right away, I had to try a couple of devices before settling on one (I still use others but just for a change). Your nic level will be another thing to experiment with..everyone is different and it will change over time.
Welcome to ECF!

Hey Jon, welcome to ECF and congrats on quitting!

Whether or not an e-cig is strong enough depends on 2 things:
1. The power of the device itself
2. The juice in it - how much nicotine it has

I tried two e-cigs my friends had - a Blu and an EVO. Both are super-minis, meaning they're the same size as a real cigarette.

Neither of them were strong enough for me. I kind of liked the EVO, but didn't think I could seriously quit with it. The Blu I didn't like at all. Inconsistent, no power really.

I wound up getting the Kr808D-1, which, along with the Joye 510, are the 2 most recommended e-cigs for beginners.

They are slightly larger than a real cigarette, though they're still cig-shaped. The slightly bigger size means they have bigger batteries, and more power.

I was a heavy smoker. 30+ a day of rollies, Lucky Strikes, or Pall Malls, with or without filters. And my Kr8, with 18mg juice, is actually stronger, both in feeling and in nicotine, than cigarettes ever were. I've actually had to cut back to about 14mg because 18mg was really a little too strong for all the time - I only use it when I'm really craving now.

And that's just a stock battery. You start getting into big battery mods, and then you're talking about some serious wallop.

You get the right e-cig, and it will be easily as strong as any cigarette you've ever smoked, if not stronger. I've had one cigarette since I got my Kr8 3 weeks ago, and it felt like nothing... except for the fact that it tasted terrible and made my lungs and stomach a bit upset.

I have done some reading and researching, and I am ready to just get this going. I am excited to purchase an e-cigarette for me and my parents.

Although there are so many different ones to choose from, and so many different websites to buy from. I'm am still quite confused on which ones to get and where to order from.
I have read all the stickys posted in the Library and now have a better understanding about e-cigarettes in general, and I have watched all the videos posted.

I now just need some help on figuring out which would be best for me and my parents, as well as where I should order from, who offers the best price.

I'm not like some people on this forum taking e-cigarettes to a new level, I just want and need something to smoke that's not a cigarette.
Seeing out I need to purchase 3 will it be best to buy 3 starter kits or just 3 e-cigarettes? What are the most popular e-cigarettes that are worth the money and will last if properly taken care of?
I don't want to order from anyone, and have it take a dump on me in a few months.

I have done research so don't tell me to shut up and go read more, for I have and I am now just using this thread for what it is suppose to be used for.

Thanks
Jon
