New to forum and I desperately need advice!

I am 58 years old and have been smoking since my early twenties. After getting bronchitis 1.5 years ago the chest x-ray showed asymtomatic emphysema confirmed by second opinion. I tried the ecig901 and liked it but hard to get consistency on eliquid, running out, knowing when to fill, frustrating. Is there an ecig that is more consistent without having to add drops all the time? I have been smoking 1 pack daily. My checking acct was robbed once with one of the free offers. Then bought the ecig901 locally. There are too many manufacturers to choose from and which one do you trust? Please help with any advice on ecig that is not such a hassle as E901. I will be forever grateful for any recommendations on ecig that is more convenient. I am tired of being hostage to the addiction of cigarettes and have so much to live for!

Hi! If you click on this link: Forum Suppliers it will bring you to a list of vendors recognized by the ECF as being reputable. These are the vendors that we all use and have proven themselves to be trustworthy. Now that doesn't necessarily mean that they're all priced similarly so you may want to look around a bit to find the best prices, but it does mean that you aren't going to get scammed by these guys. For consistency and ease of use, in my opinion at least, nothing yet beats the boge cartomizer. ‪What is a Cartomizer?‬‏ - YouTube I recommend you get a big battery mod with a manual switch. The one I really like is the madvapes roughstack Maxi RoughStack V2 Kit

Good luck and feel free to ask any other questions you may have.

If you don't mind having to push a button, the manual Riva 510 Lite Bundle kit at liberty flights is likely the best price point. It's about $30 total after the october20 discount code is used. They are a solid vendor, an ECF Supplier (they have a forum area here). The base kit has two batteries, charger, two atomizers, some empty cartridges.

A typical cartomizer holds about 1 ml of eliquid, maybe 10 cigs worth. I prefer boge 2 ohm (low resistance, LR) cartomizers. They can also be bought at liberty flights, or NHaler, or litecigusa, or other places. Just look for boge 2 ohm LR 510 cartomizers (510 is the connector type).

There are other, larger, cartomizers available, and things called tanks. For simplicity and consistency I would still suggest the boge 2 ohm. There seems to be a fair amount of futzing around with many of the new "better" systems.

You will need eliquid to go with the above. Pick tobacco or menthol, whichever you use. Generally try 2 nicotine levels, say 24 mg/ml and 16 - 18 mg/ml if you smoked full flavored cigs, or 12 mg/ml and 16 - 18 mg/ml if you smoked lights. You'll need to find what strength works for you. You may choose one strength for more frequent use, with a higher strength reserved for craving points.

If you want to skip having to fill your own cartomizers, which isn't that hard, and is most economical, see this thread for suggestions on places that sell pre-filled 510 cartomizers: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/pay-forward-pif/202315-help-510-stuff-please.html

(The Riva kit will let you try atomizers, see if you like them, while having cartomizers, combined cartridge + atomizer, is what I use.)

If you are more concerned that the pv look like a cigarette, then perhaps try a KR808D-1 kit. I'd recommend a kit with two XL or mega batteries (they run longer between charges). I've used vapor4life (their vaporking kits are 808), nhaler, vaporsetc. They all have various coupon codes. An alternative to XL batteries is standard batteries + PCC (personal charging case -- a clamshell case with a battery to recharge them on the go). Some people will recommend things called the Volt or Bloog Max Fusion (BMF) -- those are new version KR808D-1 PVs; I haven't used them, so have no knowledge on how much better/different they actually are.

Picking up a third, spare, battery, then later on a spare charger, is also good, but don't sweat it right off.

Good luck!

If you're not hung up on the cigarette look the riva/ego models make great starters. They have good battery life, produce good vapor and have a 510 threading making them compatible with most accessories (attomizers, and cartomizers). If you must have the cigarette look go for a 510 or 808 (from what I read the 808s perform a bit better).

Either way you'll want some atomizers for testing flavors but use cartomizers for the flavors you like they perform better. Oh and a manual battery unless you go for an echo (an echo is like an ego but with atuomatic batteries (no button to push) an 808 threading and a HUGE cartomizer that doesn't leak).

Liberty Flights is a good place to get the ego/rivas

Note: a cartomizer is basically one piece unit that combines an atomizer and cartridge into one unit and they hold more juice than a cartidge.

I tried 510, 901, and eGo, and a small fortune in all variations, I've ended up with a Reos Mod. Isn't shaped like a cigarette but I no longer deal with filling 1 ml at a time and/or leaks. It's expensive to start out with ($200 with batteries and charger), but it has been hassle free for me. My husband had stuck with the eGo since February. I could no longer listen to "Oh s$!#" from him every so often, when he would experience a leak, so I just ordered him a Reo. You have to keep an eye on the forum and announcements when they are in stock, otherwise you cannot easily buy one exactly when you want it.

Reos has a forum here. Their website: reosmods.com

I also found 901 with 901 carts inconsistent. And in general, atty + cart is one of the least consistent ways to vape. You could try the 901 cartomizers at ValueVapor.

But as an alternative - I would actually recommend a KR808D-1 MANUAL ecig, 280mah, if you want a slim ecig. They are nice slim minis that are a full 3.7 volts. See Vapor4Life and and also see the SmokelessImage Volt colors that are available as manual. Manual helps you get more consistent hits. Cartomizers help you get more consistent hits. And I get the most consistent performance out of cartomizers with thin clear juices - 20% VG or less, light and clear colored ones that leave little or no flavoring sediment to clog a carto. The WOW cartos at Vapor4Life are pretty hot an I can get good hits out of a carto for a week or two. Cartomizers are disposable though some succeed in cleaning them. I use atomizers to test new juices, and the best thin juices earn cartomizers. Your DSE901 atomizer should fit on KR808D-1 for testing juices.

Re the look - I use a plastic or delrin drip tip in place of the white cartomizer end cap as a slim comfortable mouthpiece (which is also easy to pull out for adding juice to the cartomizer). This will actually give it a silhouette similar to a DSE901.

For any stronger hit than that you need to leave the realm of slim ecig and start buying fat battery models and mods that have 450mah+ batteries and can use the hotter LR (low resistance) atomizers and cartomizers (I recommend Riva 510 from Liberty-Flights.com after pressing the 20% off - my kit was under $30, plus blank Boge cartomizers - the low resistance 2.0 ones are the hot ones, I use the standard resistance)

It is an enjoyable ride.... quitting this way, I have tired to quit in every way imaginable, this is the way.

You go through a sort of evolution going to E-Cigs

At first people want them to be everything a cigarette is, look, size, feel, taste etc.

As they start to Vape instead of smoke... they start to realize a few things. a PV is not a cigarette, and the more it tries to look like one, the more it has to give up in functionality for the look, feel, and particularly the size, it will never taste just like a cigarette, because if you have any kind of decent juice at all.... it will taste a whole lot better.

there are several here I agree with, if the size is a HUGE consideration, that you want it to be the same size ( or close ) to a cigarette, then a Joye 510 is probably the way to go. I would not recommend anything smaller than that.

If you think you can get past that, the the eGo or Riva is probably a very good place to begin.

I would shy away from the tanks myself, go for a very standard kit, you can try LR atomizers and other stuff ( like I do ) later.

get started....

Find a juice you like... and before long ciggerettes will be a memory.

( p.s. stay away from auto batteries, get a manual battery, that way you are controling the unit, when it heats )

When I was using my KR808D-1, I was so happy it got me off the cigs. But the battery did not last all day. The cartomizers needed filling so often it was just taking to much of my time. Realized too that the battery you buy will only last about 6 months, then you have to purchase more of the same to fit your cartos and charger.
I started looking for different alternatives.
I wanted a PV that I could take to work and not worry about having enough cartomizers and juice to last me all day. I wanted to be able to be confident that my batteries would not run out several times a day.
I looked at the VV mods and saw that my juice problem would not be solved. Why would I want to have some huge battery and a cart to keep filling? Sure they are really sharp, precision made and big, but unless they have a juice bottle hanging off the side, they would not work for me.
I saw different tank systems, but they seemed to have problems of their own. When the battery would not hold a charge you had to replace half the PV.
The REO seemed the perfect choice. I looked at the other box mods that are out there also. But I was sold on the REO because it was mechanical, sturdy, and got good reviews all around. It also seemed to be well crafted with top of the line materials. The Grand and Mini are made of aircraft grade aluminum.
I bought my first a Grand in the classifieds.
Now 5 months later I have just purchased my 9th REO.
The initial start up price may seem high, but you don't have to replace the PV, the batteries last and are pretty inexpensive. You can usually pick one up in the classys for less than new, if it is a fair price. Out of my 9, six have been previously owned.
My vaping needs have been met, with simplicity and quality.
Yes, they are that good!!

I started with a small RN4081 - looked like an analog. The batteries didn't last long, so I found myself carrying a sack of equipment with me. Moved to the Echo (1300mah), and have been really happy with it. Battery lasts all day. No need to carry extra cartos (unless I want a flavor change). It's about the size of a cigar, and an auto, so I can work hands free if needed.

Definitely worth giving a try.

You may also want to check out a feeder if you know what flavors you like - the Boge Revolution 2.1 might be a decent choice budget-wise, as the battery life is solid and it has a built-in USB passthrough, so you can charge and vape at the same time.
