I've been using blu for a while and just got my eGo twist kit in the mail today. It came with a free bottle of e-liquid. I read somewhere that the standard ratio of pg/vg was 60/40 and I ordered that. Well this stuff hits way harsher then I am use to. I also was never satisfied with the 16mg strength from blu and would go through cartos fast. So I ordered 20mg but I'm thinking that I'll go down to 18mg as I got a buzz off only a few drags.

What are yall's opinions on this? Is there any sample packs I should buy to see what I like that yall can recommend or any ratio and strength that is the way to go. I know that it's to each their own but any opinions would be helpful.

Hard to answer without some additional information, so I'll start out with some generalities. My opinion concerning the "harshness" that you spoke of might be attributed to the nicotine content being higher than you were used to and your getting a buzz after only a few drags. You are probably wise to reduce it to 18mg.

You said that you got a new eGo Twist, the variable voltage battery. Were you vaping at a higher voltage than the usual 3.7v? Were you using the correct resistance cartomizer at whatever voltage you were using? Using higher voltage on a low resistance carto would definitely cause harshness. You must match your voltage to whatever you are heating your juices in (cartos, clearos, CE2, atty's resistance - 1.7 oHm, 2.0 oHm, 2.5 oHm, 3.0 oHm).

Most juice vendors offer either sample packs or smaller trial sizes of their juices making it more convenient to find what your flavor niche might be. What flavors have you tried already, and which did you like or not like? There are tobacco flavors, menthol flavors, fruits, candies and deserts, coffees and teas, adult beverage flavors, some that don't really fall into any category, even so-called savory flavors that taste like meat.

What I did was spend a good amount of time reading the e-juice forums here on ECF for ideas and recommendations. You'll soon notice certain juice vendor names coming up more than others, so chances are those vendors might be the best place to start your flavor journey. Start visiting those vendors' websites and see what they have to offer and what might be more to your liking. Then, see what sample packs they offer. If not, are their trial bottles cheap enough to try without wasting too much money (around $2-4 for the smallest bottle is good).

Before too long, you should end up finding one or two flavors that you like enough to buy again in larger bottles. Be aware that some flavors need some time to "steep", or mature; while others taste good upon delivery. I wouldn't throw any juice away if you don't care for it initially; revisiting it again 2-3 weeks later and you might find your all day vape.

I don't drip, so I test new juices in the new CE2's, the 0.8ml ones. They don't have a carto filler to taint or alter the juices flavor, they generally can be emptied, rinsed, and refilled with another flavor easily. If not, they are relatively cheap compared to cartos and clearos, so I don't feel so bad if I have to throw one out.

When given the opportunity when ordering juice, I always request extra flavor. A 50/50 pg/vg mix is a good starting point, unless the vendor recommends a different one. It's their juice, they should know which mix is best and twhat previous customers preferred.

That's all I can think of at this time, in a nutshell.

thanks for the info. I decided to order the smallest bottle of the same stuff as I like the flavor. I got it in a different ratio so and lower nicotine level and plan to mix them so that it will balance out to be a 50/50 ratio and around a 17 mg nicotine level. Originally I was just going to toss the bottle since it was free but then realized the vendor has where you can get 5 sample bottles for free with purchase of anything so I figured I can't go wrong with that.

Virginia is a flavor that is mellower and smoother in most vendors lineup. Anything that brings to mind Marlboro or Turkish will be a little more robust. Any juice that has pipe in its name, French Pipe or Cuban, will be a little stronger.

I think it would be nice to have vendors rate their juice on throat hit when they describe the flavor. Search around for the word mild, sweet, and smooth in the juice review threads here and you will get a feel for what's what.

Pure VG is some smooth stuff, but it's thick enough that it doesn't feed some cartos/tanks very well. I've burned up at least 1/3 of my hardware before I gave up on the stuff. But I really prefer the smoothness, and massive clouds, of VG.

When you get new juice, you may want to steep it. I've found the base of some liquids to be really harsh on my throat.

And you may have scorched your carto. Once you burn it some, everything tastes like burnt, sandpapered monkey ..... (eew, horrible analogy, I think I'll keep it though :D )

Going from a Blu to a eGo twist may be giving you more vapor, coincidentally feeding you more nic as you use it. After almost two years of using an eGo I decided to go with a VV device, which I've found really nice at 3.7V. Using the same atomizers, I am definitely feeling the nic more along with superior vapor production. FWIW, I'm kind of a hard quitter and had to go to 36mg nic to satisfy cravings.

With the new device, I vaped a couple tanks of a 24mg juice sample I happened to have, just to experiment. It was ok for a bedtime vape, but lacking a bit the rest of the day. I just ordered some more juice at 30mg, splitting the difference. I'll see how that works out and maybe order some more 24mg later on.

Got in my samples of Johnson Creek today. Does anyone else have issues with this stuff? for some reason it seems like my wicks on my tank aren't soaking it up. I have to let it sit and soak an then it just stops after a bit and I have to wait and let it sit.

Omit that. I love this battery. It needed to burn on a higher level.

Well ratio is completely subjective. I like a good 70/30 blend myself, 80/20 if I'm feeling squirly. I just feel like most equipment wicks better and takes longer to gunk up at those ratios, but like I said, totally subjective. If you're happy with 60/40, go with it.

As for your nic level, 18mg sounds like a good next step. If you can't find a good level for you, with the commercially mixed blends, you can always doctor up your own. Just order several bottles with different nic levels. For example say you want a 15mg juice, get 15ml of 18mg and 15ml of 12mg and mix them together. You'll end up with 30ml of 15mg juice. It's a really basic formula, as long as the ml are the same, you just average the two strengths. If the ml are not the same, break down the units into a common denominator and average. (For example, if that's not clear, say you have 15ml of 18mg juice that you want to add to 10ml of 12mg juice, you'd break it down to 5s and do the math like this (18*3)+(12*2) giving you 15.6mg nicotine after you divide by 5 to average.) It's not hard at all, I've done it. Unfortunately with nic level, it's trial and error; no one can tell you what your perfect level will be, you've just got to figure it out.

For you, I'd start out with some basic tobacco flavors, and some non tobacco flavors too. What you'll like may come completely out of left field. I never liked menthol cigarettes, but if I'm vaping a tobacco flavor, I prefer it to be menthol. Go figure. It's not the same as smoking and your niche may reflect that. Honestly, I'd try some of the most popular flavors with whatever vendor you decide to go with. Though taste is subjective, the popular flavors tend to be so for a reason. As for specific vendors (though I admit I'm a bit of a fangirl, but I feel like it's justified) I'd try ECblends. It's some of the cheapest liquid you'll find, and most of it is pretty dang good. If you do end up there, a few reques I can give you from my personal experience, Desert Gold and Dragon's Blood. Try them. Very popular, and drastically different.

Well I vaped last night at kickball and the bar with the Johnson Creek Original. It was not what I expected.

It stated "...mellow but complex tobacco tastes. ... nutty notes that combine with a sweet grain finish and the subtle undertones of caramel and vanilla. ..."

The undertones are the tobacco. The main flavor is the vanilla, caramel, and hints of nuts. I feel more like I'm smoking heavily flavored pipe tobacco. It's good but it's not tobacco.

Don't totally discount any flavor at first. Remember what I said about allowing some juices time to mature. More complex flavors especially need time to reach their full potential.

A couple of suggestions:

Turkish Tobacco from Halo. It's smooth with a moderate throat hit and is only slightly sweet.

Tampa from Vapor Station. More cigarette-like than most, has little of the nut taste and isn't sweet.

Gandalf from Heather's Heavenly Vapes. I haven't tried it -yet- but everyone who has raves about the taste.

No ejuice will taste exactly like burning tobacco... they can taste more like the smell of fresh tobacco. Did you ever sniff a pack of cigarettes after opening and think, "mmmm... wish they tasted more like that."

You could always try Pure Cig from Freedom Smoke USA if you're really missing the down and dirty taste of a cig.

I don't try "tobacco" flavors anymore. They miss the mark by so far. I've not tried anything extracted, but I'll get around to it in the future, maybe. I haven't had a good coffee yet, but I've got a few that I need to order. The flavor that misses the mark most for me is caramel. Not. Even. Close.

I know there are threads to review juices but I'm using my thread here to post my reviews and then I'll add them to the others later.

The blackberry from vapors-choice
Amazing! Great throat hit, great amount of vapor, great strong flavor. Easily my favorite juice I've ever had.

The strawberry daiquiri from cherry-vapes
Weak flavor, weak throat hit, weak vapor production. I got this for free when I ordered my drip tips soon big loss. I plan to add this to another fruit flavor and see if I can salvage it.

The peanut butter banana from vapors-choice
I'm not really sure how I feel about this. It kind of taste like burnt not sure. I'm going to let the flavor steep and see if it works better.

The peppermint from vapors-choice
It was good. It wasn't sweet like some other candy mints that my friends had that I tried. It was a clean mint though. I think that with a drop of sweetener it would be great. Throat hit was like any other menthol but the vapor was slightly less than I would have liked.

The black cherry from Johnson's creek
Probably the worst thing I have tasted. It taste like cough medicine. I don't taste the apparent tobacco and nut tones but just the cough medicine. The type of cough medicine that you take and end up getting sick from tasting it. I plan to let it steep more before I throw it out.

I had a problem with Johnson Creek juice. I tried using it with standard LR Boge cartos, and had wicking issues. Sucks, I really like their flavors.

The French Vanilla from Johnson's Creek
If you've had the original then you have had this. It taste almost exactly the same minus the slight caramel tast and more of a earthier taste. I put it in my tank today because I wanted something sweet. Next time I want something earthier and more tobacco-ish I will vape this. Much less sweet than there actual original tobacco flavor. Decent throat hit but not as much as the original. Overall I do like it but it wasn't the vanilla that I was expecting.

I burn a lot of Johnson Creek. The JC Original is OK. I like it. But my favorites are the Silverthorn and TN Cured in the Red Oak line (PG-free). I like them alone and blended together (50/50). I vape the blended about 75% of the time then each alone the rest of the time. Silverthorn has very little sweetness and is a powerful throat hit with strong tobacco taste. The TN Cured is very smooth with an appealing, but not overwhelming caramel taste. No, the JC doesn't burn easily. I had a worthless ProSmoke and the JC juice just trashed that atomizer. So I went with an eGO and that does much better with the JC but still have to direct drip or just use 4 - 5 drops at a time in the cart. I've tried other Vanilla flavors and I like them. Haven't tried the JC vanilla yet, however. I'll get around to it eventually.

The Chocolate Truffle from Johnson's Creek
If you're looking for something chocolate then don't get this. If you're looking for something sweet then don't get this. If you are looking for a faint taste of cocoa powder then this is for you. If you are looking for something with a really awkward vape taste then this is you. The only thing I've had so far that coming in it taste like one thing and going out it taste like a different thing. The vape was thick but the throat hit was weak. Won't be getting this one. Thank God for sample packs because this sounded great.

The Caramel Tobacco from Vapors-Choice
I don't taste the tobacco but I taste the caramel. It's not to sweet but it's good. It reminds me more of that taste you have left in your mouth after you have a piece of caramel. It's got a warm feeling to it. I could vape this again during the holidays I think. This mixed with a vanilla would be great. It has a mild throat hit and decent vapor production.
