Hi Everyone,
Brand new to the forum and to advanced vaping. I have been using regular ego-c batteries w/ clearomizers(viv nova, iClear, etc). Just discovered the forum which lead to my purchase of the following items:
Silver Bullet
AW 18650 Protected 3100 mAh Rechargeable Lithium Battery
smok - Rebuildable tank (RTank)
Kanthal Wire
28 AWGA1KW28AWG-0321
Silica Wick - 3.25ft
2.0mm WickSilicaWick2mm
Efest 18650 3100mAh 3.7v Recharageable Battery efest_18650_31001
IGO-L Rebuildable Atomizer (Dripper) IGOL_RBA1
Stylish Metal Drip Tip
With that said I have been trying to learn all that i can about rebuilding coils wicks etc... And while the forum is soo helpful there is a lot of content to sift. So Just wondering what some of the more experienced vapers might think I absolutely need to know before I begin my journey into advanced vaping. All input, advice and links are very much appreciated. Thanks, innerHONOR

Try building coils that are not super low resistance when you first start rebuilding (around 1.5-3.0). Second, DO NOT put something on a battery that you haven't measured the resistance of.

Silica with Kanthal is kind of difficult when you first start rebuilding coils. Some people build the coils around something else (like a toothpick or drillbit) and then push the Kanthal through it. Another method is holding a paper clip with the silica and then wrapping the coil around.

DO a ton of research. Watch people rebuild silica coils. Learn about resistance, voltage, etc... There are a lot of good vids out there. I started watching PBusardo's rebuild of the AGA, but I'm sure he has some videos on dripping atomizers too.

One of the best resources available is right here, the RBA forums and APV section as well.
you will learn/find just about anything you need to know about coils and rba's, along with a couple youtube vids and off you go.
watch for shorts. check your resistance. make sure you have good batteries.

a silica dripper is probably the easiest way to get started.

shoot for around 1.3-1.4 ohms on a mech.
take a paperclip, hold the wick with the clip make a coil on it.
attach to the posts and pull the clip.
check the resistance and for shorts.
fire it with a couple drops to make sure all is good.
pop the cap on, fill and vape.

I really appreciate all of your advice and feedbeack. I am ordering the vape safe now, so cheers for that too.
Additionally, during my research i was watching some vids buy a guy named grimmgreen. In one of those videos he had a device that attached to the mod(via 510) and then you screwed the atomizer into that and the screen would display the resistance of that particular coil. Any idea what this is called or a way for me to check the resistance? As I wont have the ability to do so w/ the silver bullet. Thanks Again.

The YouTube videos help a lot. Search for your specific devices on rebuilding. Watch several times. Dude you need a multimeter and you need to learn how to use one. Your zeal is admirable, but RBA's with mechanicals need to be used safely. That's why they're considered advanced devices. Go slow, always know your resistance and how that interacts correctly with batteries and voltage. Double check. Know how to check your coils for hot spots and shorts - more videos. Understand Ohms, voltage, watts and amps, in other words, Ohm's law. There are good videos that explain Ohms Law and Vaping. Once you understand everything, like anything else, it's easy. Make sure you understand battery safety. More videos. Just make sure you do before you hit the fire button. Good luck to you.:thumbs:

Let me copy paste what you said right here... This should be read twice:

Again: Know your battery!

Thanks for the advice. I was unawre of the difference until now. But that said when I look into the product description of the 2 batts I ordered (both links below) I am unable to determine whether thaty are IRM or ICR via the product description. I was hoping maybe someone here could tell me how to identify one from the other and if I have ordered the wrong ones what are the risks and or preventative measures to be taken if any to avoid a failure. FYI these are both batteries altSmoke recommeded when I ordered the silver bullet. Thanks again.

These are pure li-ion batteries. They are protected, but they can still fail. And when these fail they go kaboom... Like this:

Undercharging a li-ion will do the same but quicker.

So li-ion are a big no no.

IMR mean li-ion manganese which makes them safer... instead of exploding they will get extremely hot.

Well thanks for the info. I certainly don't want that type of artillery going off in my facial region. So I am off to research this stuff until my brain is full. Thanks again

All that scare talk being said! RBA on a mechanical mod like your silver bullet is a GREAT vape.

Vape on!
