I haven't read the whole thread, as it's getting long and it's getting late here. But I read the OP and wanted to say a couple of things.

First, hang in there. Quitting smoking, or switching to vaping, is murder. Don't get broken down. Hang in there.

Second, don't sweat if you cave and have a cig. It happens. No big deal. Think how many you've avoided in the last days. Then thing how many you've had in your life. One more, one less...it's not a tragedy.

Third- If you're puking, something is going wrong with this. Is there anyone oyu know who vapes? Or any vapers organisation or shop in your area? It really sounds like you're doing something wrong, and someone who knows the gear might be able to have a look and see if they can help. It also sounds like, if you KEEP getting juice in your mouth, you're running the risk of poisoning yourself, so PLEASE be careful.

It really sounds like you're flooding the atty, but I couldn't say why it always happens. If there's anyone who can look at it for you, that would be very good.

I'd try to find somehting else to hold in my mouth, though. YOur ecig is much heavier than a cigarette, and in some ways more fragile. If you're keeping it in your mouth, i imagine it's getting chewed, possibly saliva-ed, and very likely banged about. All of these things makes malfunction more likely.

And for heaven's sake, if you get noticeable juice in your mouth, SPIT. Don't swallow.

A tiny bit won't hurt you, but if you swallow much, the possibility of serious poisoning IS real. Don't mess around with it.

Seriously- you may be better off having an analog or two, if that's the only thing that will keep you from sucking on the PV when it isn't working and may be dangerous.

I’m going to apologize in advance for the length of this post. Just trying to make sure I give you great vaper’s all the info you need to help me not have to give up my PV! After the first hit I was sold and have not nor do I have any desire to touch an analog ever again!! As a matter of fact I have 2 packs in my purse that I’ve not even once thought about smoking! My liquids didn’t have as strong a flavor as I hoped but it was still WAY better than an analog. I ordered more liquids from a vendor with double and triple flavor options (BomBay, wow great! prices on sample packs)! I’d say the first 3 days were just totally awesome; I had no problems at all. Now I seem to be having some, so I need your help with trouble shooting and some advice for a parts order…Pretty, pretty Please my wise new vapor family!
Other things that might be important…I was a 2PAD smoker. I think I’m a pretty heavy vaper too. I take a hit or two IDK maybe every 5mins or so, maybe more often when I’m just sitting doing nothing/messing on the computer. I'm also using a manual battery. Now on with the problems…

At first, I got the greatest throat hits ever! I mean wow, it was great, a throat hit that didn’t burn my throat. But it’s now gone, poof, can’t get one anymore (I use a 24mg 70/30 mix, only flavors no tobacco). My vapor output is about the same, however I have noticed that the “gurgling & sizzling” noise, which I took to mean a good hit, is harder and harder to achieve. To get the sizzle/gurgle I have to suck much, much harder which is giving me tension headache type things in my facial muscles.

EDIT: after reading around some and trying a few things, I took out my filler and dripped 2 drops on the atomizer, no better. Then I did 4 drops which gave me the sounds and a better feeling hit but still no throat hit.
EDIT 2: the next 4 drop drip give me leakage from the air holes between the battery & atomizer. But If I can make this dripping thing work for home about how many 5-8sec hits should I be able to get from 3-4 drops before I need to drip again?
EDIT 3: sigh, I started this last night but something went very, very wrong…I think I got a little juice poisoning. No matter what I do with the carts/filler or dripping I’m sucking down liquid…and obviously more than I realized cause after about 30min of dripping I puked my brains right out. It came on suddenly and was mighty fierce…as in thank goodness my empty cereal bowl was still sitting right beside me cause there was NO time to make it to the bathroom. Ugg, and now my first hits of the day have me feeling a little nauseous and I’m seriously scared I’m gonna cave & smoke the cigs I have cause I can’t be sick like that again today! The thought of smoking an analog is gag inducing too…but I am not at a point where I can go without one or the other yet ya know?

I tried switching to the blue foam. With the foam no matter what I do I get a mouth full of juice or juice dripping out of the cartridge tip. I do keep my PV in my mouth a good bit and chew on the tips a little, but I don’t feel like it’s saliva leaking out cause it’s got that awful taste and makes my mouth numb. Also if it matters I use the flat tips, they make it seem more like an analog to me cause I can hold them in my mouth.

From the look of the filler that came in my carts, it seems like it had a plug? (the part at the end of the tip was a little twisted and I had to pull a little bit harder than I expected to get it out) Did I imagine that or is there a bit that gets twisted up and pushed into the hole? And if so how to you get around this with the foam?

I got the foam after a few recommendations that it would prolong topping off, wouldn’t burn, was a better wick material etc. I cut it myself just so that if fit in without having to shove. Am I doing something wrong?

I don’t really have a problem using the filler that comes in the carts except 1) it keeps getting hung on my atomizer and having wild hairs. I tried trimming them off but it just happens again when I take off the cartridge to top off/fill. I keep the filler just to the edge of the cartridge. To keep the filler as wet (slushy appearance) as it should be usually ends in liquid leaking out of the air vents where the battery attaches to the atomizer or the end of the cartridge tip. 2) seems like the foam would be easier to clean/dry so I can change flavors (especially until I can find one I really like.)

One of my atomizers has what looks like filler under the loop of wire mesh (does that make sense?) The other doesn’t have it or I can’t see it so I’m not sure if it’s part of the atomizer and I should leave it alone or if it’s a bit of my filler that got hung in the mesh…and thoughts?

Help me please. What am I doing wrong?

Also I need to order more stuff and I need help.

1) I have been looking at switching to cartomizers to maybe avoid some of the topping off and messing up my filler, but I’m not sure exactly what to order for my Joey 510…the web site (thevaporpro.com) was recommended by a friend/long time vaper, but now as I’m looking around it doesn’t tell me anything about the battery strength or anything that most other sites have as specs for what will go with what. And I'm a total noob, have no idea about batteries, ohms and such? Also the prices @ Vaporpro are a bit higher than some others I’ve seen around. Are the cartomizers reusable? I mean can I clean them to change flavors? And for the atomizers I have do I have to clean them before I change flavors?

2) Do cartomizers come in flat tip? And any chance there are flat tip cartomizers that are made of a softer plastic? If not flat tip how about regular with a softer plastic?

3) I got a kit with two batteries/atomizers. The batteries don’t last near as long as I’d like, but I really don’t want to go up in size. My 510 is just the right size/weight for me. So I’m gonna need to order more batteries. It seems to work out better money wise to just get another kit but not if I’m gonna switch to cartomizers right?

4) I also was thinking on getting a Passthrou…that’s where you can plug into your computer and vape on without having to charge batteries right? How do I know which one to get and does it affect the computer at all? Just got a new laptop and it’s my baby!

(Another Edit)On the advice of my brother I cleaned one of my atomizers by soaking in alcohol and letting it dry for 48hrs. I got my new flavors today so I started with a fresh cartridge and clean atomizer. The sizzle/gurgling is back, still no throat hit, and I’m still a bit nauseous. And much to my disappointment even triple flavor isn’t enough. My smell & taste abilities are already so much better but I’m just not getting any flavor. I get a little smell but no sweet taste at all which is what I want/need. I guess I should try steeping them but that leaves me trying to figure out which one I can stand to vape for a week or two until the steeping is done.

I’m sorry this is so long, I just really love this option and I REALLY want it to work. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

I too have a JOye 510 and love it but I only use "Atomizers" on them for the same reason's you're explaining above. They give a much stronger hit and last longer than the reg cartridges. Built in Atomizer so you don't have to fool with cleaning the atty on them either. Good luck honey. I buy my juice from AZ Smokefree and they have tobacco flavor but it has a slightly sweet taste to it but I love it. It leaves a nice after taste. If bought by the bottle it's called the 555 flavor. I got an ego (in pink) from puresmoker it's 49.99 $5 shipping and they have BOGE cartos for cheap ($1.49 each) I looove the ego and Puresmokers customer service is epic. They have a lot of good juices too and include a free sample with the ego kit. Btw their juice is either 75/25 or 70/30 PG/VG I forget. Ego comes in black stainless steel red pink and blue. They are the only shop I use!

Amy, I have been religiously following this thread since day one. You've got to deliver us the punch line and tell us what type of kit you end up getting. The suspense is killing me.

FYI: I found that I needed two nic levels to keep me happy and satisfied without going back to cigs. I keep two rivas always around, ready to go. One has 18mg nic of my favorite juice in 50/50 PG/VG and I vape that early and often. It's very satisfying and relaxing. The other one has 24mg PG of strong tasting tobacco flavor that hits really hard and I vape that for high stress or real quick nic fixes. This system works well for me. Your results may vary.

My first two Rivas were black. Then I ordered a pink battery and cone. I keep them all in rotation all the time. I dont really care about what color it is, but others do.

I have seen people putting stickers and such on their pvs to make them "pretty".

Like I said, I just don't care what it looks like. LOL.

GET YOU A BLACK RIVA and be done with the trouble, Amy. When the pink comes in, you can order a battery and cone for around 15 bucks, if you so desire the color.

FYI mah is battery power higher=longer lasting.
650<900<1000 etc bigger the number the longer it lasts between charges
LR cartos make it seem like it's a higher voltage (more vape TH and warmer vapor from what I can tell)
The ego kit at puresmoker has a SR atty and a LR atty included. They have SR and LR BOGE cartos too (both $1.49 each) go with BOGE no matter where you shop.
LR= low resistance SR= standard resistance.
One ego battery lasts me all day ymmv. Having 2 should cover you even with your chain vaping.
Puresmoker also sells extra batteries so you could get the kit and 1 or 2 extras and always be good to go
The ego batts charge in 2-3 hours so there isn't much down time and a rotation of 2 should keep you good to go. But hey having an extra one or two just in case won't hurt either.

Also pure smoker has pink ego batts for $14.99 each and an ego passthrough for $22.99 a kit + an extra batt and or a passthrough would do you well. The PT is great because you can plug it into the wall or a computer and vape away no problem. It draws power thru the cord from the wall or comp. Only the PT is black or stainless steel not pink. But at home who cares as much? Besides you can bedazzle it or paint it or sticker it lol

Hey, another crazy nurse!

I had the same problem as you when I first started vaping. I was a deep inhaler when I smoked and I tried to vape the same way I smoked, with huge deep hits. If the ecig can't vaporize the ejuice as fast as you pull, you will pull in juice with the vapor.

One possible solution is to change the way you inhale. Try soft slow even puffs and make them shorter. This didn't really work for me. I'm a freaking hoover and I inhale hard and I couldn't change that. It's just gotten worse since my lungs have healed up and now I need an ecig that can deal with my massive puffs.

Instead of adding more nicotine, you probably need higher voltage and lower resistance for the ecig to keep up with your inhalation style. This will create a warmer and more satisfying vapor and you will stop getting juice in your mouth. Really strong tasting juices with lots of TH can help too. You can pm me if you have questions about any of this.

Oh God, I hate to say this... but no, a Riva is not going to hit any harder than an eGo.
The higher the mAh the longer the battery will go between charges, what you need is higher voltage.

The Riva and eGo are both 3.7v batteries, but they only run at 3.2v under load.
That is really the lowest voltage battery you can buy.

If you wind up going with a Riva I strongly suggest you get some LR atomizers/cartomizers instead of standard resistance.
That is one way to get more power without going to a higher voltage model.

And you should read this to understand more about power, which is the important part of the puzzle...
