I have learned:

I dont like the 5 post rule- but understand it keeps down spam.

I love e-cigs.
Cant stand the term "vaping"... not sure why.

I need to find a way to figure out compatability of batteries and carts- for when I have emergencies like yesterday!

I like the people on this site- their insite and knowledge base is amazing.

Cheap e-cigs can be just as good as expensive ones.

ALL carts are re-fillable- you just have to have an extra one to experament with :p

making your own e-liquid is fun- but others usually found your favorite taste first :glare:

For compatibility - You need to buy known models and have adapters around. The attys or cartos of any popular slim model can be used on other popular slim model. And ditto for the fat battery versions and mods using popular threadings (except slim ecigs cannot use LR attachments or the fast chargers of the 450mah+ models). And by popular I mean the original Chinese numbers of the models. 510, KR808D-1, 901, 801 <- those are the big 4 and some adapters also exist for RN4081, 401, and the incompatible rebrander 2-piece KR808D-2 aka E9. Of those only 2 have some compatibility without an adapter and that is KR808D-1 and 901, the threading being the same and the airflow different, sometimes requiring an adapter. GoodProphets has very inexpensive adapters.

Chargers are a different story. Adapters do not guarantee use of the charger - you could melt your battery or be injured. You cannot trust another model's charger even if the threading is the same. And you cannot put slim batteries on the fast chargers of the big 450mah+ models. Even within 510's there is one idiot clone maker FS510 with opposite polarity so that one's charger could melt a normal 510 battery. Blu (L88B) is also opposite polarity. I think Blu should marry FS510 and they should jump off a cliff.

Don't ever buy named model without knowing what model threading it is, whether it is a good model, what it should cost, and who else carries parts for it.

And buy spares. That is how you avoid emergencies.

After having a few emergencies early on, this is now my extremely foolproof setup haha. 4-port 2amp USB to AC adapters (Rosewill) at home and work with cables for all models I vape. PT for emergencies at home and at work. I carry 4 charged slim batteries (2 each of 2 models I like to vape) AND a PCC for one of the models AND a charged Riva 510 750mah battery. I also have 3 small bottles of juice. That is how I go to work. I need to trim that down! But the chargers and PCC and emergency PT are the core of the safety net.

Hi, Pamdane and welcome to ECF!
I'm like Hoosier. I really hate the term "e-cig" and prefer using the term PV. I don't have a problem with using "vaping" because we aren't smoking.
This link might help you out a little with the atomizer, battery and cartridge (carts) issue. This also applies to cartomizers (referred to as "cartos" here.)

Somebody's fiance did not like "vaping" and he needed us to come up with a new word. It's hard. Vaping sounds like gaping or vampires or nothing good. Vaporing? Grab a vapor? Atomizing?

Atomizing? Makes us all sound like a bunch of Trekkies or something. :nah:

Vaping - vamping - vaping - vamping... :glare:

"What's that you got?"
"I'm electronic cigarette-ing!"
- Nope.

What if we were vaporizing instead of vaping? No, that brings up memories of Vick's Vapor rub.

Like as not, I think we're stuck with it. We've all got the vapors!

Welcome!

I hate the term "e-cig", but have learned not to grit my teeth over it. Prefer Personal Vaporizer or Personal Electronic Nicotine Inhalation System, but I only use acronyms when speaking. It keeps people on their toes around me.
My dad isn't familiar with this stuff and I just don't want to tell him I'm smoking a penis...Eh shoulda tried that when he found my bowl though...

Not a term for the timid or demure, you have to OWN it! Only the bold and confident can pull it off.

(This coming from a guy who put on green tights, danced on stage in front of thousands, and the proposed to my girlfriend on stage. I can pull it off without anyone giving it, or me, a second thought.)

Beyond the much more consistent vaping experience, this is why I use a variable volt PV that allows me to set it to maximize the performance of any atty/carto and gets 21+ hours on a charge and doubles as a pass-though. It sure lightened my load.
