Hi all, I am in the market for an e cigarette. I have been smoking clove cigarettes for 18 years now and am down to the last few packs. I am not a heavy smoker but sometimes smoke 5 - 6 in the evening and an occasional one in my car.

I am completely confused when I read some of the threads about all the different items and add ons....

Can you all explain the main terms to me (and I'll keep searching the forum too) and maybe make some recommendations. I don't know what the heck I'm even searching for at this point in time and some of you all seem like pros!

It's pretty confusing at first, I know..but, you'll be sounding like a pro in no time yourself!!

I always recommend a 510 kit for new users. It's a GREAT little kit and it's VERY simple to use. I ALSO always recommend a MANUAL ecig, no matter WHAT kit you order. A manual kit is one where you press a little button first. (Takes all of about 3 mins to get used to doing that, btw.)

All ecigs have 'atomizers', or 'atties' as you'll see them referred to. The atomizer is what heats up the liquid to make the vapor that you inhale.

The cartridge, (or 'cart' on ECF) is what holds the liquid.

A great place to order things from is cignot.com. They have great prices and they ship very quickly!!

Hope this helps and welcome to ECF!! :)

Thank you. I'm in the middle of reading the library right now...and got carried away watching the UK reviewer teach how to blow smoke rings...

I now realize that the atty you mentioned above is the atomizer like you said....yay!!!

Oh yeah...I should mention that if I go to Vegas or a friend who smokes on the weekends....then I wind up smoking about a pack.

Thanks for the recommendation of the 510 kit and thanks for not flaming me for just asking - what cigarette? I'm sure that this happens many times per day....ok, back to reading the library!!!

Still reading up in that library....little distracted again but very, very interesting. I think I have to print out the first part with all the terms. I hear lots about the 510 and 808 - those seem to both be pretty popular. I'll have to check out the ego as well.

Timothy - good to know about the Clove Juice!!! That has been my downfall since the beginning....

tasty vapor has a clove flavor i think its called kretec
or you can try a kr808 kit less muss n fuss than a 501

Yes, it is called clove and they make it fresh to order :)

Tasty Vapor

They also carry 510 starter kits I have ordered several for friends just starting out and they are great simple to use kits.

i would also recommend the Ego, my first kit was a 51o with a automatic battery and it wasnt but a couple days till i ordered a manual battery...that did the trick for a while but charging batteries all the time is not that much fun either...so then i am looking for something that holds a charge for more than an hour and half.....presto .... the ego
i would say forgo all my previous steps and jump right to the good stuff.....good luck
and welcome aboard

You can't really go wrong with a manual 510..IF you decide you enjoy vaping, (and I'm sure you WILL), then go on to the EGo. Same set up..you can use the atomizer and carts you got with your 510 kit, and MUCH better battery life!! Depending on your vaping style, (and you seem like you'd be a pretty light vaper!), it can last you anywhere from 6-10 hours before needing a charge.

And yes, the clove flavor that most RAVE about IS from Tasty Vapor and it's called 'Kretek' on the site. :)

Ok - so I've done some reading and have the terminology down...still a bit confused but I'm getting there. I've been reading up on the different ecigs - especially the popular ones and I think I'm leaning towards the ego. I like the convenience of the KR808 (if that is not it - please just tell me) where you just have the cartridge that you replace...but it seems like it would be pricier in the end.

My biggest concern for me is battery life. My cloves are a long smoke - and like I said smoke mostly in the evenings and one in the car on the way home from work. But on the weekends I can go crazy - and in the middle of a poker tournament - I am chain smoking nonstop....I can't have a battery dying on me every hour. Plus - I am traveling to Vegas twice this year and don't want to be on the floor trying to replace a battery.

My questions are (if someone could please help me out) these:

What should I get with the ego...how many batteries, and whatever else, etc.

How long does a refillable cart usually last? How will I know when it is getting low?

Is it a pain in the a** to refill the carts....

Biggest concern for me is battery life. If anyone has any other suggestions please let me know. But, right now that's the way I am leaning. I'm not the biggest smoker in the world but when I like to smoke - I like to smoke. Thanks guys and gals!

Its bigger than a cig but not like a heavy ole thing, its jsut not the 'same' feel as a cig but trust me you get used to the 'new feel' really quickly. It just having it in your hand and raising it to your mouth in a faux smoking way, even blowing out vapor, that kind of calms you and fools you into thinking its the 'real thing'. Can't really explain it better than that. I honestly didnt feel it was odd past the first 5 mins. Thats about how long you notice the weight difference too imo. They dont feel like cold metal pipes once you use them because they warm up and feel 'right'. Hard to explain until you have one and you see lol.
As for clove juice, kretek from TV and also clove from DIY Flavor Shack by E-Cig Smoke Store - that one is also good, with the numb lips feel (or so Im told I can't stand cloves lol).

As for refilling - I thought it was no more of a pain than rolling your own - and most kits come with 2 complete eGos (for example http://www.cignot.com/product_p/kit-ego-all.htm) and we usually recommend that on top of that you get a spare atty or 2 as those are the things that are MOST disposable (some last ages, some crap out really fast)

Hey you guys....can you explain to me what the whole deal is with the dripping and/or topping off? Am I going to have to carry bottles of juice with me for this thing ;)

Also - are you all kind of in general agreement that the ego has the generally longer battery life?

Just out of curiosity - can you compare it with the KR808 since I think that is my only other contender right now?

And....recommendations as where to order... Maybe I should start a new thread....
