Hey guys and gals !
my name is Trev and I desperately need to stop smoking I'm 37 and have smoked for 20 years I've battled with drug and alcohol addiction and for the past 4 years my life is clean and serene .....but I need to stop smoking ..recent health issues and overall health has taken its toll...

I recently dabbled with very cheap kits from china and now and then buy a disposable e cig .....until last nite a friend introduced me to his unit and I'm in love....I feel there may be freedom from my 1-1.5 pack of newports a day. BUT all the hardware is confusing and I'm told to set up my own unit instead of buying a kit....I'm a easy learner...I mod handheld gaming units and phones and I'm also a MOD at a gaming modding forum and am a bit tech savy BUT all this is new and need some guidance ...

what was your first setup...I'm looking to spend around 60 bucks and would like 2 battery's ....I want to feel the hit and start with something that will make me say ...damn I like this and think I can do this instead of suckin tar...

everyone seems really great here and haven't read the rules yet about posting links but I been browsing a site which seems to lean toward joyetech ...so I spend almost all night last night trying to figure out a setup...but still need help..

i figured this out on my own
2 Joyetech ego T batteries. (Will these fit a RN4081 cart?)
Smoktech Refillable 5 pack of cartomizers for RN4081 ...or single dual coil ego style carto
Joyetech 5 pack Ego T type A atomizers (I need both right Atomizer and a Cartomizer)
Joyetech Ego T charger
ejuice

now will this unit let me mix and match other cartos and atomizers?

Thanks guys and gals

Hi Trev, and welcome. I use the Joyetech and really like them. That's what I started with and still use.

If you get the UPGRADE model, you can switch voltages from cool to warmer for about the same price. It's the same battery as the EGO-T also. The "T" just means it has a tank.

Get quite a few sampler juices, it can be a long journey to find a good juice. Maybe even get some unflavored, that's all I use and it's fine.

Congrats on being clean and sober.

Hey there. Congratulations on the choicr to quit smoking and switch to vaping. Im 34 and been smoking for 21 years. Yes i started out pretty young whrn smoking made you feel you looked cool.

I want to relate my experience which may help you in your journey in exploring vaping.

I was initially not sold in the idea of vaping. IMO these people looked like grown men thumb sucking, totally unlike the coolness of the image of a marlboro man or a ln action star holding agun with a .... in his mouth (can you picture Clint Eastwood with a. 357in onr hand and a PV on the other? Silly right)

Last December I experienced having difficulry in breathing and I was like going "oh sh**" and tried to quit smoking. It lasted 6 hours.

My fiancee, a non smoker got really worried and one day at the mall she literally dragged me to one the kiosks selling e cigarettes and had me test out one of the starter kits (an ego type with a ce4 atty) and I said.. Yeah this could work. I only smoked one cig that day since I got it.

Then after a week my ce4 stopped working and tahat bummed me out. I then went to another store and got a ce5 since the guy said it was "rebuildable" and the vapor was way better than my previous atty. It worked for a week until the ego battery conked out on me. By this time i was already liking the idea of vaping so instead of getting discouraged i read up a bit more about vaping and got myself a full mech tepescopic torpedo using a regular drip time atomizer. And got a Vivi Nova. This worked well for a time and I practiced rebuilding on the Vivi nova.. I screwed it uo most of the time but got pretty good results at times.

By this time I was liking the drip type atomizer a bit more than the vivi nova since the flavor was stronger so I researched a bit more and upgraded my set up with better batteries, and got myself a rebuiodable drip type atty. I got myself a Fatty. Now this one was a challenge to build but better imo than the nova. I experiemnted and researced on build styles, wicks, until after a time of trials and errors I found the perfect set up for me.

Im now vaping on a twisted kanthal wire setup, 4 loops on a 1 mm wick looped 3 times and getting monstrous vapor on it.

So how does all that relate to your post? When u start out you would usually get something that seems easy to do. When we started amoking we didnt need to learn about voltage ohms wicks wires batteries etc. We just popped a stick in our mouths and lit up. The need to learn these things, like learnibg to build your own atty and all may discourage some but may actually be part of the fun for some folks. The point is you may make a lot of mistakes on your 1st ventures into vaping until you find your perfect sweet spot but until that happens do not let it discourage you that you switch back to cancer sticks. When you do find your sweet spot.. It would be worth it.

Are you dead set on this setup? Could I make some suggestions?

I'm not sure about what the heck an RN4081 is but I can tell you that Joyetech batteries are generally designed to work with eGo threading and 510 threading without an adapter. I've heard hit and miss with the eGo-T batteries, like they only work good with low ohm atomizers/cartomizers/clearomizers. I personally have an eGo-T 18650 (With the regulated/unregulated mode) and found they work good with 1.8ohm to 2.5ohm. (with primer puffs)

If you are in for the stick batteries, I think something like an eGo Twist/Vision Spinner is a really rock solid grab. I purchased a Vision Spinner 1300mah "kit" for 28 bucks off madvapes a while back. Came with a Stardust v1 clearomizer and an eGo charger.

I'm not a cartomizer guy so I usually go on to recommend clearomizers, ymmv, but I really like the bottom coil clearos. Stuff like the Kanger T3 and the VapeOnly BCC Mega have become my main cartridges for vaping and I plan to pick up Kanger Protank when they "hit the shelves."

If you are dead set on your setup, that's fine. Everyone's experience is different with vaping and you should feel free to try whatever sounds good to you.

Awesome. You can get what you need in that price range, too.

Ego batteries are a fine choice to start with. They have the most common threading, so you will have the widest selection of clearomizers, atomizers and cartomizers you can access in the entry-level and intermediate ranges. All of the good stuff is 510/eGo threaded. I don't know what you mean by mix and match, but you will certainly have more options than you'll have the time for!

Will these fit a RN4081 cart
I doubt it. That's a different thread type, and a somewhat obscure one at that if I'm not mistaken. You want 510 cartomizers.

I need both right Atomizer and a Cartomizer
Nope! Cartomizers are basically an atomizer and something to hold your juice in one convenient piece. You can just fill them once and vape for hours. Generally, the things sold as atomizers, you drip the juice into as you go or attach a tank to. You only need a pack of 510 cartomizers and the eGo battery/charger to get started. You can skip on the atomizers if you want.

Once you get situated with that, it should be easier to figure out what else you need. With the 510/eGo threading, you can grab all sorts of different atty's, cartos, and clearos and stick em right on there. Most of them are affordable enough that you can just try different ones as you go along until you find what you're looking for.

But if you want a better throat hit and vapor, I recommend going with the variable voltage version of the eGo. Being able to increase or decrease the voltage can make all of the difference depending on what kind of atty and juices you're using. It allows you the best possible vape with whatever you happen to be using. A lot of people swear by the vision spinners, which are an eGo-style VV battery with a more readable layout for adjusting your voltage. They generally cost but $5 more than your standard eGo, so you might as well.

You'll also want to look into clearomizers for better vapor production/flavor/throat hit. Cartomizers just can't compare imo, though they do get the job done. Personally, I like the Kanger T3.

2 Joyetech ego T batteries. (Will these fit a RN4081 cart?) - No, I don't think they will. I believe the cartos you are looking at are 808 threading

Smoktech Refillable 5 pack of cartomizers for RN4081 ...or single dual coil ego style carto- covered that

Joyetech 5 pack Ego T type A atomizers (I need both right Atomizer and a Cartomizer) A cartomizer, has the atomizer built in to it. you either drip in to an atomizer, or fill a cartomizer, the two are not used together.

Joyetech Ego T charger This will come with any starter kit.

Ejuice essantial- don't buy big bottles at first, if you don't like it you own it anyway

I'm not selling, don't even know this guy. This would be the type of starter kit you are probably looking for. two batteries, two clearomizer devices , charger and someplace to keep it. These are the simplest things to refill ever, and they last a long time. I'm sure somebody has it 10 dollars cheaper and somebody else has it 20 dollars higher. check around and look for coupons and discount codes.
    Hope that helps

Hi. I went back and forth with different devices. Wanting something not to "fancy" during the time I first quit cigs. But I believe if I knew then what I know now, I would have done it differently. I understand the "cost" issue, but i ended up spending more buying "rinky dink" e cigs at first and ramping up slowly. I suggest that if you just quit smoking, buy a good variable voltage device. If you really want to stick to joyetech, you can buy the ego twist (not the ego t) or the evic. It is important that you can increase the voltage of your device. Then you can start with 510 SR cartomizers (relatively cheap) and buy some tobacco flavored juice. You can wean yourself of cigarettes better this way. Rather than buying a weak device and then slipping back into analogs. God bless.

Wow it seems like everywhere I go to try and buy a decent VV aside from the EGO-C joyetech.....it's out of stock. Any insight of a decent site that may even have the VV spinner by vision in a starter pack....that 60 I was talking about in the OP is suddenly changing to 80.... I been researching this like the cure for cancer (semi true irony lol) ....and now I just want to make a damn purchase...I'm seeing some decent reviewed clones of the ego-c ....bad idea?

I would love to give this thread a 1+!! I have spent the last two days reading this Newbie section of the forum and was so lost with everyones replies to other newbies. Most threads I have read, everyone kept giving initials of stuff, talking about Carts, tanks and the like but never explaining what each is/does. This thread has cleared a good bit up for me. Thank you for asking all of this...and to the other kind members who took the time to explain every thing!!
