Hi Everyone.

I want to start sub-ohm-ing and i need alittle help on safety.

Based on the ohm calculator i'm using, it is telling me that for dual coil/quad coil i will need to divide the ohm in half/or 1/4. Do i need to multiple the Amp by 2 or 4?

For example, If i create a .5 ohm, Amp value is around 8. If i create a dual coil that reads .5ohm is it will 8amps or 16amps? Do i need to multiply that by 2 since i have 2 coils in the build?

The best battery i have at the moment is AW imr 2000mah.

my next question is what is the safest lowest ohm i should build without killing my self. lol

Any input would be very much appreciated.

Thanks
Chung

Welcome to the forum Chungeee, is normal vaping not doing it for you.

How long have you been vaping?

Going sub ohm is a big step as it can be very hazardous.
Educate yourself fully before going there.
And then still use a mod with built in protection is the best advice I can offer.

I don't sub vape, I find 1.2-1.5 ohm more than fits my needs.

Enjoy your journey.:vapor:

Hello and welcome to the forum Chung. Glad to have you here!:)

If you are new to mech mods and/or rebuildables I highly recommend you spend some time with Baditude (one of our resident battery experts) and visit his blogs. You are now 100% in control of your own safety (and others around you). Make sure you purchase an ohm reader and a voltmeter or DMM (if not using a regulated mod) so you can measure your builds, check for shorts and measure the remaining charge on your batteries.

Baditudes Blogs. The blogs regarding mods and rebuildables are listed below:

BATTERIES

9. Battery Basics for Mods: IMR or Protected ICR?
* Another essential read to understand which batteries are safe to use in mechanical and regulated mods. Includes a frequently updated list of recommended safe-chemistry, high-drain batteries with their specifications.

17. Purple Efest Batteries Not As Advertised
* A cautionary blog that reveals that the purple Efest batteries may not have the specifications advertised. Also includes a commentary on "continuous discharge ratings" vs "pulse discharge ratings" of battery specs.

OHM'S LAW

14. Ohm's Law for Dummies (Vapers)
* My attempt at explaining Ohm's Law in layman terms and how it relates to vaping.

16. Explain it to the Dumb Noob: Ohm's Law Calculations
* As simple as it is to use, some people have a tough time grasping the concept. Warning: Includes graphic photos of mod explosions.

MECHANICAL MODS & REBUILDABLES

7. Information Resources for Your First RBA
* An essential read and reference guide for someone new to rebuilding coils. Includes a multitude of useful links on battery safety, mod safety, coil meters, coil building, and the differences in the three types of RBA's.

15. Inexpensive Mechanical Mod and RDA Setup
* A response to the frequently asked question on how to get into rebuildable atomizers with a mechanical mod inexpensively. Includes a list of commonly used tools and supplies for rebuilding and where to find them.

BATTERIES - WHERE TO BUY

Only buy batteries from a reputable supplier (not ebay or Amazon) as there are many counterfeit batteries being sold. Here are several reputable battery suppliers in the US.

* RTD Vapor
* Illumination Supply
* Lighthound
* Orbtronics

Thank you Hitmetwice and Susan-S. I'll be sure to look over some literature that you guys have posted.

hitmetwice - I've been vaping for over 8months. Started with Kanger protank 2, then Aerotank, and now RBA (Smok RSBT Hybrid). I've always been a curious one and what i have not tried yet is dripping/sub--ohm-ing. My standard build at the moment is with 28ga wire roughly 7times which gives me around 1.2-1.5.
My issue on the Smok RSBT is that i was never able to come across a perfect build. Came close 2-3 times but every time my build will leak. Some times alot, sometimes very little and at times it just did not soak the juice at all. It gets very tiring trying to drain out, clean and re-juicing it. So my only solution at this point is to not put that much liquid in the tank. It’s almost to the point that i'm dripping but not really there yet. That is why i wanted to try out dripping.
As for sub ohm-ing...my friend just recent got a set of Aspire Atlantis Tank & CF Sub-ohm Battery & CF Mod Battery and that hits like a beast. Lots of cloud and good throat hit. I was think about giving it a try since i have a mech mod (smok fury-s with AW imr 2000mah) laying around and i just bought the plume veil clone and Aris RDA clone.
So before i build a clone i wanted to make sure if i were to build a .5-.8ohm dual coil or even a quad coil, could by battery handle that?

Susan - i've been using my MVP 2.0 and iStick as ohm readers :) didnt see a need to buy the actual one.

Well.....erm....the point of what is "safe is VERY subjective and if you have ALOT of experience and are just looking for some more satisfying huge cloud hits :drool::drool: than in the "subohmer" community this starts to go outside of what is acceptable for "safety guidelines" and it really depends on what batteries you got and what device you are using...if you are using a mech (and as always GOOD batts like the sony VTC line) I would say start at a .8 and see what you think...if you are flat out trying to bottom out to a .15 :drool::drool::drool: than do it with something regulated like a sigelei 100w (or the new 150w) and do it "safely' that way but it is all personal preference to what is going to make you happy...we won't even get into what I used to do on mech's before regulated caught up with what I liked but then again what I used to do was not "safe" so HAPPY VAPING :vapor:

Think that is a 10amp battery. I would personally get Samsung 25r or lg he2 or he4. The vtc4 is a really good one, but only if it is authentic. Would go check out rtd vapor or illumination supply

These are all good batts and can be bought at Illumn.com - Flashlights, Batteries, Carry Gear, Intelligent LED Lighting, and More! for less than 8 dollars a piece and personally my safety is valued at WAY more than that lol, and they said vaping would save us money...???:blink:
