That seems about right. As long as you can tell its firing during that second there's no problem. I have a rebuildable at .47 ohms and it takes about a half second to get vapor production.
Yeah, it's definitely firing. I can see a very small amount of vapor during the second before it gets fully going.

Ok so I rebuilt my coils today and am .65 ohms. All is well except it takes about a full second before vapor is produced. Is this due to the increased resistance? Is this normal? When I was at .27 ohms the vapor was pretty much instant.

If you want to speed it up try half the wraps, single coil to give you 0.65 ohms single coil.

Or else use a thinner gauge than 24 for dual coil.

Single coil? How does that work?

Do one small coil instead of two big coils.
Leave one post blank.

Right now you have two 1.3 ohm coils. Together they work out to 0.65 ohms.
But because it is 24 gauge thick wire, it takes a second to warm up.

So if you want it to warm up faster, make one 0.65 ohm coil with the same 24 gauge wire.

Got ya. Basically remove one of the coils.

Welcome North. I see you have gotten some great advice. Part of the fun in rebuildables is finding the build you like best. Obviously while being safe first and foremost.

I have builds on my atty's that range from a low of .45(no giggling from the extreme sub ohm'ers) to a high of 1.4 in my Kayfuns and some builds in between that on other tanks and drippers.

Every atty will have a different sweet spot based on airflow, juice and what you are using for wicking material.

I am a flavor chaser, clouds are pretty but ultimately I vape for flavor.

Taste is SUPER subjective however some of my favorites are Nicoticket, Ahlusion, Gremlin Juice, Suicide Bunny, Steam Vapor and a few from Virgin Vapor. I vape desert and fruit flavors almost exclusively with the exception of H1N1 and Wakonda from Nicoticket.

Local vape shop just got suicide bunny in this week. Picked up the OB and mothers milk and they're amazing.
Nicoticket - Anything from them
Goodlifevapor - Deadly Sin and High five are amazing
Never heard of nicoticket. I'll have to check them out.

Suicide Bunny is really good IMO. As far as Nicoticket goes, you won't find a better seller. Kent and Katy really care about thier customers and make a truly exceptional product. Give them a try and in no time you will have a steady flow of purple envelopes in your mailbox. [emoji3]

This handy calculator helps with single, dual, triple and quad coils in various sizes, and allows you calculate for any type of wire:

Coil wrapping | Steam Engine | free vaping calculators

To get a feel for builds and resistances and what you like best, I'd try building a few coils according to the calculator, then measuring your results on the meter, and finally tasting a favorite juice or two in each configuration to see what happens in terms of flavor and vapor production.

:)

Also, and as GamerGirl points out, each RDA/RBA is different. A build that's perfect on one atty might blow your head off on another, or be absolutely meh on a third. You never know. There are the contacts to consider, and the size of the chamber; the airflow and the position of the coils . . . If you like tinkering, North Guard, this kind of stuff can keep you busy for yonks.

Awesome tool. Much appreciated.

Yes, I enjoy to tinker. Rebuilt my coils 3 times yesterday so I could get it just right.

↑ and that's half the fun of vaping right there! At least for me anyways.

It sounds like you're getting the hang of it. with your battery a .65 coil will be just fine.

I hope we haven't scared you away from subohming -- just scared you enough to do it safely. When I sub, it's usually around .3Ω - .4Ω I know some go lower, but I find, that a lower resistance isn't always the answer.

Good luck, have fun and happy vaping!

I know I was technically ok at .27, or as "ok" as anyone can be doing something like that lol. Just drives me mad that I was a few ohms from potentially burning my face off and literally had no idea it was remotely dangerous.

I need to order some more kanthal too. Soooo many different builds I want to try!!

At least the guy at the shop sold you that efest IMR battery. I've heard horror stories of people getting sold subohm setups, built by the shop, with ICR (not chemistry safe) batteries and just sent on their merry way without even a cautionary comment by the shop that they had a potential pipe bomb on their hands.
