Hi. I'm Shanna, new to forum and expecting my new hardware in the mail tomorrow. I like all the great info I see exchanged on here and have a few questions. I haven't much experience with e-juice outside of disposables and could use some guidance

So in the past I've liked blu cigs and similar but they weren't practical and grew tired of them [mostly because the automatic batteries have way too many downsides]. Fast forward to now, my husband and I are looking to quit tobacco and excitedly ordered a couple ego-T starter kits with type B atomizers and 1000 mah batteries. It seems from reviews that this would be a good starting point. I'm drooling over the eVic and have curiosities over LR atomizers, but that is for a later time.

We ordered two 30 ml bottles from freedomsmokeusa.com [Irish cream and pear] at 100% VG, 24mg nicotine, with 30 mg extra flavor on each. We wanted a large dose of nicotine but 36 seemed really high considering most other e-juice calls 24mg their "high" dose. I'd think that 36mg might limit how frequently I can vape without getting sick. Is 24mg actually strong?
Also, what's the deal with "steeping"? Is it required for all juice? Do I have to wait for days before I can put e-juice in my atomizer?

FreedomSmokeUSA told me they were behind on orders and it might be a while before it ships out, so we ordered a few vg-based juices from Johnson Creek [Valencia, Silverthorn, Solstice, Swiss Dark, Vanda] and hopefully they will show up around the same time as my hardware. I've heard that VG based juice can clog up atomizers and I'm not sure how much of a problem that will be. Any advice? Last question, how much will an atomizer retain flavor of juice? Is there a way to get the flavor out or prevent the "stain" altogether?

I know this is a lot to read and accept that most people won't. I appreciate any insight you can throw my way.

Welcome to ECF & Congrats on switching :D

24 mg can be strong, depending on how much you guys smoke. Some have required 30-36mg to help them quit. Most say start around 18mg and step up if necessary.

Steeping varies from person to person, but generally consists of letting the cap stay off from a few hours to 2 days, recapping & shaking now and then. After that you leave the cap on and shake occasionally to help the blending. This can go on from a few days to a few weeks plus. You don't have to wait, I personally like to test a liquid as it ages. Some don't require it at all.

VG may not wick very well in some systems, but I'm not familiar with the -T cartridge & atomizer, so maybe somebody else can chime in on that.

Hope this helps :)

Welcome! Sounds like you're on to a great start, I wish my second order was as educated as yours. I started with a Blu as well. Most people on here have no use for them but I would recommend you keep it around as well as some pre-filled carts for emergencies. Tanks and atomizers still frustrate me sometimes and I have a freaking engineering degree! Haha don't know how some of these people quit so easily with just those, I needed some no brainer backups (Blu, Snus).

I don't think I'm still considered a noob but I'm def still in the novice category. I can say that 18mg juice easily got me off cigs, and I was 1 PAD plus. My dad was 2 PAD for 40 years plus and he's always used 18mg. So 24 mg should do the trick.

Steeping is just leaving it in a dark place and shaking it every day, maybe a few times. Some say leave the cap off for 24-48 hours, some say don't. I usually leave it off for a day, then cap it and leave it to sit for a while.

Johnson Creek was my first vendor. I can't really comment on most of the flavors but I do use VG juice only and Vanda is a great one. Every time I don't know what flavor to use or am sick of other flavors I use Vanda. Nice light vanilla, can't go wrong. Johnson shipping is extremely fast, should be there by the weekend.

And chances are a lot of people will read that and give better advice than I just did. This community is pretty incredible.

Hello Shanna first off to start with the nic content it really depends on how much you smoked anologs. In my opinion 36 mg is a bit high for me, When I started I got the 24mg strength and it was fine for me and I am now down to 16 to 18 mg but it may not be the same for you . Ok on to steeping, it is not necessary to do but it usually will bring out more flavor in the juice so go ahead and fill the atomizer and if you are not a big fan of the taste after trying it just let it steep for a while and give it another try. Last yes vg juice will have a tendency to gum up some atomizers, and it seems like the Johnson creek And other dark juice is hard to get out of the atomizer far as cleaning goes im not sure on the best way I've never had too much luck cleaning them out so I will leave that to someone else here on the forum. Hope this helps you out.

+ 1, your on the right track, what you have ordered im sure will be ok for you for now, i doubt you will be lucky enough to get it smack bang on until approximately your 5th batch just make subtle changes until its right, you will need to concentrate on which nic strength, throat hit/vapour content and flavour strength is right for you, you will probably find both you and your husband will be vaping totally different juices, i use 72mg pg based nic, a pg based flavour and a glycerin based diluent, this way i can choose and adjust for nic/th/vapour/flavour, glad to hear you are starting this with your husband, im not sure how easy it would have been without my wifes support, keep at it, you WILL get it right and will be so glad you did, good luck

My 3rd ecig was an Ego T, and I used it for almost 2 years to keep me off of the "analogs". I did get a little frustrated with the flavor/vapor production from the Ego T atomizers sometimes. I then switched to using my Ego battery with Low Resistance (LR), dual coil cartomizers (they work pretty good and are $1-$2 each, depending on the vendor you purchase them from). In December, I decided to try LR CE4 clearomizer tanks on my Ego batteries. What a difference that made! After 2 years+ of being "cigarette free", I decided to treat myself to a ProVari mini. It's a little on the expensive side, but WELL WORTH the money spent! I still use the CE4 clearomizers on it (using a little 510-Ego adapter), and this is the best PV that I've used yet. Juice for your ecig is alot of "trial and error". You just have to try some different kinds/vendors, and find the one(s) that you like the best. I started off with 24mg of nicotine, and have stayed at 18mg for about 2 years now. Remember,.....It's whatever works best for you! (to keep you off of cigarettes). Best of luck to you! :toast:

Wow! Thanks for the quick replies! We're both smoking just under or just above a pack a day. I'm so excited to be able to sit through a movie or meal or a day at work without getting up for a smoke. I last had blu cigs, I remember my workplace was awaiting a decision from corporate on whether we can vape at our desks. Hopefully they'll allow it . Either way, we're both excited to be rid of tobacco and its additives. Definitely gonna buy a few disposables for emergency situations.

Oh! One last thing: Do I need a syringe to load a ego type b cartridge? If so, where do I get such a thing?

For me, steeping means that I buy a few bottles, and put them in the back. FIFO (first in, first out). Remember, having a few smokes a day while vaping is not a sin. Trust me, it won't last long. Prety soon, the vape will be much better than the smoke. As far as buying some disposables, your money will definitely be better spent buying another battery and maybe some small cartomizers. :2c:

Syringes are all ovet the place. I got mine from Apollo for $2, but I really don't like it much. You can You tube your tank, and probable find some instructional vids.

Hi Shanna and welcome to ECF. Congrats on both your decision.

We wanted a large dose of nicotine but 36 seemed really high considering most other e-juice calls 24mg their "high" dose. I'd think that 36mg might limit how frequently I can vape without getting sick. Is 24mg actually strong?
Most new vapers begin @ 18 or 24 mg. I began @ 36 but am now down to 2 mg.

Also, what's the deal with "steeping"? Is it required for all juice? Do I have to wait for days before I can put e-juice in my atomizer?
Generally if juices are "freshly" made they'll need steeping. When first testing a juice attach ONLY the atomizer to the battery. Drip 2-3 drops on the element and vape. If the taste is "yucky" atomizers are much easier to clean than cartridges, cartomizers, etc.

so we ordered a few vg-based juices from Johnson Creek [Valencia, Silverthorn, Solstice, Swiss Dark, Vanda] and hopefully they will show up around the same time as my hardware. I've heard that VG based juice can clog up atomizers and I'm not sure how much of a problem that will be.
Some that use 100% VG juice thin it down with a TINY amount of DISTILLED water to help it "flow" better.

The eGo 1000 mah batteries are great...battery info- 100 mah= 1 hour normal vaping before needing recharge. The older "tank" system (cartridge + atomizer) is prone to leakage after using it for awhile. The good news there are many alternative superior delivery systems (holds and vaporizes the juice) that will work with your 510 eGo Batteries. 510 is the threading type and is the most common.
The Best of Luck to you and your husband.
