Hello all,

I've been pretty much exclusively vaping for about a week now. It's going well, and I have very little desire to smoke a cigarette. One issue that I've run in to so far is that I find myself getting sick of whatever juice I'm using after a day or two. I find myself starting to notice strange undertones in the flavors that seemed fine at first, and are now driving me nuts. I bought some juice at VapeNY as I'm in New York for the moment. I liked their Peach Ice at first, but I realized that the "ice" flavoring is the same stuff they have in generic cough syrup (that I've had some bad experiences with), and I can't deal with it anymore. Coffee flavor was good at first but is now starting to bother me.

Does anyone have any recommendations for juice flavors that are tolerable in the semi-long term? I'm having trouble making it through a 10 mL bottle without discovering that I can't stand it. Would a tobacco-type flavor be best, maybe?

Welcome to ECF CapitalSigma! What you are experiencing happens to a lot of people. First, your sense of smell and taste are returning after quitting smoking. You are also getting used to the juices you are vaping which will also seem to change the flavors. Also, juices will change over time as they 'steep'. Some do that in a few days, some keep changing for weeks.

Which flavor you will like is totally dependent on you and the only way you will find out is to try a bunch. Some vendors will sell a trial set of 5 - 10 ml juices for a good price. 10 ml is probably the smallest most vendors sell. I think 'Ice' is like menthol or mint, correct? Try one or two from each of tobacco, drink, fruit and pastry flavors. Once you have one that you can vape for a bit you will have time to let the others steep for a while before you need to use them.

One thing I do to keep flavors 'fresh' for me is to have a few cartos/clearos/tanks around filled with different flavors and switch frequently. I think a lot of people do this. HTH.

Ah yes, the juice, the damn juice!

I have tried many vendors, many flavors, many combinations and dropped my share of dollars on juice and I have no answer for you! Juice is so subjective, you find a vendor you like by trying samples. It's really the only way, when you find what you like you stick with them at least that's how it's been for me.

My regulars are my regulars because they have an overall total quality selection, mostly everything I have tried I have liked in otherwords:

Alien Vision
Vermillion River
RAWR
Prime Vaping
Smokless Image
V2 Cigs

Hmmm... Try ECBLEND.com its alot cheaper and you can customize your flavor completely, I'm sure its cheaper than VAPENY.

Its hard to know exactly your preference when your brand new. I personally like fruity flavors. Tobacco was gross to me. To each their own I guess. On most sites whatevers the most popular is a safe choice, in the sense that customers re-buy that same flavor. I always purchase a large white peach ala mode, and them buy smaller ones as testers. I'd recommend doing that. Then their PG to VG blends 50/50 a safe bet but I'd go 60/40. 70/30 if your using tanks.

I lurked here for awhile before I decided to give e-cigs another go. What I did was check out the review section and took note of the highly rated vendors and liquids and ordered a ton of samples. In a week's time, I received 16 different flavors to try out (and more on the way). I haven't tried them all, but some I like and some I don't. It's going to happen and I think its part of this experience.

I *think* that it's camphor, although I could be entirely wrong. Menthol and mint are flavors that I know and tolerate pretty well, there's some particular sweet quality to it that reminds me distinctly of cough syrup.

I'll keep poking around. I realize it's cheaper and probably better to get it shipped -- I'm away from home for break and I won't be here long enough to get anything delivered, most likely.

I just find it very strange that the thing that's giving me nicotine could possibly taste bad. I didn't like the flavor of cigarettes when I started smoking them, but I got used to it pretty quickly. The opposite seems to be true of juice.

What kinds of changes usually happen to juices when they steep?

I've never heard of camphor being used in juice. I suspect it's menthol with something else added that reminds you of the cough syrup. The reason I asked was that I find adding mint (sometimes called candy cane), or menthol to a flavor I don't like can modify it enough to allow me to vape it quite happily. Just a thought.

I'm going to steal a line someone used in another area of the forum. Choosing a juice is like a princess kissing a lot of frogs, hoping that one of them turns into a prince. I have boxes and boxes full of frogs and just a prince or two. Sometimes the princes turn back into frogs when your tastes change. Sometimes they are only princes for a day or two. You never know when you're going to find a prince...just keep kissing.
