...not to mention that it used to be the teachers warning the kids "Stop it or I'll tell your parents!" Now it's the kids warning the teachers "Stop it or I'll tell my parents!" :-/

That's trial lawyers fodder, but yeah. Also you have from teachers "Don't tell your parents this." ...as well as "Tell your parents this." Usually the first has to do with condoms and the last has to do with global warming, the hazards of smoking, etc., and then there's the "Tell us if your parents are doing drugs". lol

*sniff* Man, I  you guys. I'm feeling very at home reading this thread.

And re: public schools, those would be some of the (many, many) reasons we homeschool. Of course, I'm ruining my children by doing so. My oldest son (13 years old) can discuss current events and compare them to ancient history, but he doesn't know the proper etiquette involved in turning over his lunch money to bullies AND he's never learned to fill in a circle with a number two pencil. I suppose we should spend a couple of hours on those tomorrow.

*sigh* yeah, so true. I don't have kids but if I did... wow, parenting's hard enough (I have it on wide-scale good authority ;)) without having that kind of conflict, influence, >insert really bad words here<, etc. piled on...

Yeah, I get that a lot.:lol: People tell me it's the Panem et Circenses and the Μολὼν λαβέ bumper stickers that usually clue them in.

Thanks to public schools, my nephew has asked my little sister several times (loudly and in public) why she does drugs. Because if one smokes, one does drugs, while if one has a cuppa joe, one is just having a good morning.

And to say something on topic ... I received my new cartos, but I haven't tried them yet. I always use a 901 mouthpiece with cartos, and I haven't felt like getting the stoopid caps out yet. Probably tomorrow.

For me and my mother and sister, it was my niece coming home and telling us to quit smoking because she 'loved us' and didn't want us to die. I told her we're all going to die eventually - some happier than others and to tell her teacher and the DARE officer, that her uncle said 'to go .... themselves.' (sorry, but true - I don't think she did though.) I did explain to her how I knew she was required to ask and forgave her for the intrusion.

Same here. Got what will likely be my last order two days ago. I did do a 'coffee in VG' just to try. ...meh. coffee is hard to nail down.

Thats funny, my g/f tries to hide that she smokes from her 14 year old daugher (very unsuccessfully) for that same reason. In elementary she came home one day and TOLD my g/f that she was a bad person for doing drugs!

skydragon:

I am the "Hey, give it try, it might be fun" kind of girl. :D Wait, that sounds a little weird. I mean in the jumping off bridges type of things.

I guess I'm a bit weird in that way too. IF a person wants to do something, while I may advise against it, it is always their choice. Sometimes I'll even help, if it doesn't involve harm - as in jumping off a bridge ;-)

No, I wouldn't encourage someone to do something that would harm them (maybe a few) but I have always been something of a "daredevil" so I might jump off myself and then say "Hey that was fun, you should try it" That would of course depend on how high the bridge was. :D

Love the license plate. :D And frankly, I love your response to the teacher and DARE officer, too. When we're accused of brainwashing our children, my oldest son smiles at the person and says, "Yeah, that's why they're teaching us logic."

Most people consider us definitely part of the lunatic fringe, but I don't mind because I find the people out here much more likable. My husband taught our oldest son an important sentence when he was four (and trying to get out of trouble for some wrong-doing): "I am responsible for my own actions." We'd have a better world if more people learned, and understood, that phrase.

*sigh* OTOH, I'd love to be on a political forum with you. OTOH, I remember that I left political forums for good reasons.

Re: cartos, that's the other reason that I haven't filled these new ones yet: I want to make sure I have a flavor that I *love* before I fill them up, because I don't want to have to wash the flavor out. Today I made a convenience store cappuccino flavor (heavy on the vanilla and cream, light on the coffee) that I like, though I have it a bit strong. But, I think I'll christen the new cartos with some time proven Tasty Vapor.

Thats funny, my g/f tries to hide that she smokes from her 14 year old daugher (very unsuccessfully) for that same reason. In elementary she came home one day and TOLD my g/f that she was a bad person for doing drugs!

I wish that surprised me.
