Hi,

I have got like 3-4 packs left in my carton and then I would like to make the switch to an ecig. I was wondering if you had a suggestion of what to start with. I smoke mainly privately and some socially. I am not a heavy smoker probably 5 cigs or so a day...

I've done some poking around the forum but, I am still a little confused.

How is this for my first kit?

http://www.madvapes.com/Ego-Dual-Coil-C ... _3472.html

How much maintenance is involved?

Any alternatives or comments would be much appreciated!

Thanks!!!

I'd start out with simple filler based cartos - either dual coil 1.5 ohm or Boge 2 ohm. No fiddling or chance of leaks, and your amount of usage would make them last all day. You sound like you'll probably go through about 1ml of juice a day so a tank might be overkill regardless of simplicity. Standard cartos only require periodically popping off the top and dripping in 5-15 drops of liquid so the coils don't run dry and burn.

If you start with a simple eGo type of setup it will serve you well and support many types of add-ons, like the tanks, later. An eGo will also serve as a great backup should you go to bigger things and become a hobbyist like some of us here on ECF. It might be your main vape for a long time too - my wife still uses them after a year.

Just make sure to have backups of batteries, cartos and juice so that you'll avoid running out and can't fight the cravings. Good luck!

Thanks for all the info. I did think it might be a little bit to much to start. Do you know of any good starter kits for the dual coil 1.5 ohm or Boge 2 ohm.

I can't find many eGo kits with standard size cartos in stock, but Madvapes does have a kit with the whopper eGo sized dual coils - MadVapes 510 Ego Mega Dual Coil Cartomizer Kit

Once you have a kit like this, you can add a box of regular sized cartos (Boge LR or XL dual coils) of your choice and a cone (optional) and you'll have a lot to work with. A couple flavors of juice to start and you will get off to a good start.

There's lots of info on ECF on how to fill your cartos and top them off. A syringe isn't necessary, just drip slowly down the sides until mushy at the top.

Thanks for your help but this is where I get a little overwhelmed. I don't even really know how to put it together and now there is technique in filling it up? Filling up the carton is something to be done daily? Does it come with any info on maintenance?

There are youtube videos on how to fill cartomizers(cartos) as well as instructions here on ECF. If you want to start simply, you can get smaller cigarette sized devices and prefilled cartomizers at Halo ecigs or Smokeless Image, it's easy initially but more costly. Even the pre-filled ones can be refilled and topped off, so you'll probably end up doing it soon. Most of us started with the smaller ones then wanted more battery life and juice choices and moved up to ego type devices.

If you spend more time researching on ECF while you've got a couple packs left it will pay off. Here's the beginners tutorial Beginners E-Cig Tutorial

In the "eGo" category/size/cost, there are better options. The ego comes with a smaller battery in both volts (warmth of the vapor) and mAh (vaping time on charge) than other models in this category. Why pay the same or more for less? Instead, I would look at the E-Power or Kgo. Both of these have 3.7 volt batteries instead of the smaller ego 3.4 volt batteries and both come with larger 1000+ mAh batteries over the ego's smaller "standard" 650 mAh battery. Plus the E-Power batteries cost $4 to replace where as the eGo batteries cost $15+ to replace:

E-Power Chrome Dual Coil Cartomizer Kit

KGO Mega Dual Coil Kit 1100mah

nothing showed up in the link you provided...

how weird, it showed up for me, here are a few of the links in the search

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/261558-vape-newb-ego-dual-coil-carto-tank.html

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/267201-tired-refilling.html

try to not get overwhelmed, it is easy to do, when I started I was scared to refill my own carts - and carts are EASY to refill compared to some cartos. (I don't use cartos) there are lots of videos and people here to help. also, go see if there is a subforum for your area, maybe there will be a meet soon where you can get in person help
