Hello all, this is my first post although I have been poking around here for a few days. My name is Gerald, from the Raleigh,NC area and I am very pleased to find such a strong community for the e-cig user. My experience started Monday when I saw someone at work using a Blu brand e-cig. I had heard alot about e-cigs but had never seen on in action until this past monday. Needless to say, I was intrigued.
As a heavy smoker for over 20 years I immediately saw a truly viable method for ridding myself of my tobacco habit. Previous attempts had my trying Welbutrin, The patch, Chantix, and nicotine gum. The only time I had ever had any sort of sucess in quitting was with the Nicotrol inhalers since they kind of allowed me to at least simulate the habit of smoking.
So, armed with no real knowledge and a debit card I went down to this gigantic store where my co-worker bought his Blu's to try out this new cessation method. The store had three e-cig brands, Blu, Smoke-Stik, and ElitenSmoke. The salesperson pushed hard to sell me a Blu starter kit but I was wary about getting involved in something like this without really knowing the in's and out's of it all. So I opted for a Blu disposable for $8.99. I tried it the rest of the day and was really excited about the possibilities of how an e-cig can get me off traditional smokes.
So, while vaping away on my new disposable I set my sights upon the internet to learn about the different products and how this all works. As you all know, do a search on e-cigs and what you get is advertisements. So I searched on e-cig forum, and here I landed. After reading the FAQ, looking at hundreds of posts, and watching many of your video's I felt better armed to make a purchase and I now knew that those 3 brands weren't some of the best choices.
Avoiding the store I originally went to, and their product, I found a tobacco store in town that carries 510's and lots of supplies. Grabbed myself a 510, some carts, and some e-juice. Since wednesday I have been vaping and am very pleased. Went back to the same store yesterday and bought my wife a 510 of her own and now we are both heading down the road of being smoke free. So, I have to extend a sincere thank you to the creators of this forum and its many members who have already helped me without them even knowing....thank you all very much.
Looking to expand my flavor arsenal, I took some suggestions here and placed an order from MadVapes yesterday and according to the tracking #, my order of 6 new juices will be here today, so I'm pretty excited about that.
While I have spent many hours here reading and learning, I have found an issue that seems to be a bit conflicting to me and I was hoping that I could get an answer. I realize that there is tons of info here and trust me, I've sifted through a great deal of it but I just cant seem to find an answer to this "conflict" I keep running into. So please forgive if it has been addressed but I just cant seem to find an answer. Here it is.....
I often read that it is important that you don't flood your atomizer by using to much juice in your cartridges. If it floods, or if you even use to much and you hear a gurgle, you have to blow out the excess..... Yet isn't dripping the actual act of flooding your atty? How is putting drops ON you atty not flooding it? How can the method of "dripping" work so well when one of the golden rules is not allowing too much fluid onto the atty? Very confused on this point, some clarification would be appreciated.
So other than that question and truly getting an answer to which is better, atty vs carto, I'm very grateful that I could find so much great info in one place. Thanks in advance for any info and help you can pass along. I look forward to interacting with this great site and its members.
