Hello, I am starting to get disgusted with my smoking habit, coupled with the crippling cold weather outside, I am about to pull the trigger on an electronic cigarette. So far from what I have read it appears that the eGo is where it's at. The best prices I have found are from liberty flights. I am leaning towards getting a Riva starter kit, however the choices on the site are overwhelming: dual coil, low resistance, carto deluxe, SE, lite. I really have No Clue which one is the best?!
I figured this would be the place to find out.
Please chime in with your opinions.
-Thank You

It looks like the cartos kits are out of stock. I'd get the Riva light kit, 2 boxes of cartomizers and 2-3 drip tips.

Then I'd order about 30 ml of juice from a juice vendor in small bottles. That will get you started.

That was pretty much my identical order when I started!

You get a very nice vape with boge 2.0 cartomizers. You can always try the bigger cartomizers at a later time when you decide on a juice you like.

what you could do is buy a carto kit then add a couple attys which are on the same page or buy the 29.00 kit with comes with attys the add a 5 pack of LR cartos so you can try them both. what ever you decide make sure you hit the 20% button in the top left corner. it's nice to have a few attys so you can sample juice flavors before you decide to dedicate a cartomizer to it

Thank you for all of your quick responses!
I just noticed how most of those kits are out of stock.
I think that I will be going with the Black Riva SE kit + a drip tip+ a 5pack of Boge LR cartomizers.
Ill probably look around and get some juice assortments someplace else..
Boy this vape stuff sure is starting to add up. Hope its worth it...

Oh it is so worth it!

What kind of juice are you looking for?

If you email Liberty Flights they may know when the kits will be back in stock. Sometimes they have them but haven't put them on the website yet.

When you grab juice, grab a few different strengths of nicotine as well. A variety from 12-24mg should cover you.

Vaping is only expensive when you're first buying gear. If you don't go crazy and start buying all kinds of different devices, you'll break even in no time. Assuming you smoke a PAD at $6 per pack, you'll pay for the vaporizer itself in 5 days of not buying analogs. In another week or so, you'll cover the rest of the initial costs. A heavy vaper with an eGo/Riva is probably using 2-3ml of liquid a day. At approximately $0.50 per ml, that's about $2 a day for liquid, replacement attys, and batteries.

If you find vaping is not for you, post your equipment in the classifieds and you should be able to recoup at least 50% of your investment.

That's a good call. If you really want a carto kit from LF you may want to email them on their web site. Sometimes they have the stuff in stock but not on the web site. Or you could look at their SmokTech kits. They are a couple of $ more expensive but they run at 3.7 volts just like the Rivas.

I would consider the Riva 510 SE with the new 3-click enable/disable if they have those in stock. Other than that - if you get the carto kit you still need an atomizer and drip tip for testing juices and dripping thick juices. If you get the Lite Bundle or SE you need a drip tip and cartos.

And don't forget eliquid. I recommend 80PG/20VG or I use some 90PG/10VG. VG alone or high VG juices are thick and gives most people problems with cartomizers - harder to fill and still can singe too easily from being sluggish moving through the stuffing.

Re cost - I can get 10 days use (about 20ml of juice run through it) out of a $2 Boge carto w/ thin clear juices. Juice I am using about 15-20ml per week and now that's I've found favorite juices I stock up during sales. Finding your favorite juices takes time and money. I am definitely not spending the $54-60/week I was spending on cigarettes.

BTW be sure to press the 20% off upper left front page of Liberty-Flights.com BEFORE adding things to your cart to get the lowered prices.

Boge 3 ohm cartos are just warm and easier to learn on. The 2.0 ones are hotter, get more hit out of the nicotine and use your battery charge up a bit faster.

Also buy a 510 drip tip (and a 510 or Riva atomizer if there is none in your kit). That's for testing juices and some like to vape that way. And I recommend a spare charging cable since you should have backups for everything. I have a charging cable at work and 2 at home.

To be clear, you need attys or cartos but not both. If you get a kit with attys, you don't need cartos, unless you want to try them out too.

Otherwise what dormouse is saying is that if you choose to use cartos primarily, you'll probably want to have an atty or two on hand to try new flavors since it can be hard, if not impossible, to get a flavor out of a carto. Cartos also do better with thinner liquids, so any liquid with a heavy VG base vapes better from an atty.

Perfect! And yes, it's worth it. Saved myself over 4 grand since I started vaping and quit smoking. Just 16 months ago.

Now the hard part. Finding a juice you like. Try Vapor Station and/or Freedomsmokeusa. Both offer samples and sampler packs. Get the small bottles til you find something you like, and don't pay attention to anything you read about the "absolute best juice ever" that you see here on ECF. Or anywhere else as far as that goes

Tastes are so subjective that what one person loves, another just can't stand it.

There are many great juice vendors. Those are just a couple that I use.

And, yes, since you are going to be trying new juices.....get a couple atomizers to drip so you don't fill a whole cartomizer up with something you may not like.

Thanks for the tip about the high PG/VG ratio, I'll definitely keep that in mind! I think that you guys are right to get both the atty and cartos, might as well experiment until I figure out what I like.
Also, I would definitely appreciate a juice assortment to start out with. I'll look into vapor station and freedomsmokeusa, I am all for supporting american made juices if possible.
If anyone knows of some other good juice assortments feel free to let me know..
-Thanks again guys, I've never posted on a forum as friendly, quick, and informative as this one before! I'll definitely be hanging around here!

Vapor Station has good tobacco flavors. My sister is a huge fan of their Tampa.

I'd pick up a bottle of juice from a different vendor as well in case you don't like their juice.

Seems to be winning in the juice thread-

Copper Creek House Blend

Please let us know when everything arrives and how you're doing with it!

BTW, after you get your kit, make sure to review all the items you purchased. You get a 49 cent credit for each review. Put it toward another battery. It's good to have a backup.
