Since this appears to be the de facto-newbie-introductory-thread, hello everyone, from Sparky in Illinois, U.S.A.
First off, thank you all for such an interesting and informative forum! Like practically everyone who initially becomes aware of e-cigs/personal vaporizers (I had no idea such things existed until just recently where the heck have I been??), I am loaded with questions. Im so glad I discovered this forum! My questions are being answered as I delve into the various sections (and having read each and every post to this point in this thread!). To the forum administrators, moderators, and to the contributors all, I would like to express my deepest appreciation.
Im a male, age fifty-something, and a former cigarette smoker (who greatly enjoyed it). After smoking for over 25 years, I quit 11 years ago. I started up again in 2006 and smoked for less than a year, then quit again. My reason for quitting initially? My lovely wife. She had never smoked, and I didnt want her exposed to my secondhand smoke. Shortly after we were married we discovered she had developed asthma, most likely due to her excessive exposure to secondhand smoke as a child. My quitting had been quite fortuitous. When my relatively brief return into the world of tobacco smoking ensued (I really missed my nicotine!), I smoked only outdoors or near an open window with the wind blowing so that the smoke vented outside, and never anywhere near her. The hassle of that, combined with her continued requests that I quit, found me sans cigarettes again.
I read here on the forum where someone stated that one can quit smoking, but one can never cease nicotine addiction; thats certainly true for me! Concerning personal vaporizers, another user remarked that he/she can eat my cake and have it, too. Well, to say that Im excited with the prospect of enjoying nicotine again, via an oral intake method somewhat similar to traditional combustion inhalation, is an understatement. However, from what Ive read here, I clearly understand that
vaping is distinctly different from smoking; Im not going into this thinking it will be the same, by any means. In fact, Im preparing myself for experiencing something completely different, well-aware that one of its differences is that its neither as reliable, nor as simple as the traditional cigarette smoking ritual.
I just ordered my first e-cig starter kit, and am eagerly waiting for it to be delivered! Im almost giddy with the thought of how, when the often recurring urge hits and a little voice in my head says yet again, I sure wish I had a cigarette right about now, I can satisfy that urge and let that little voice say, Ahhhh
Perhaps Ill post a (somewhat less verbose) follow-up after it arrives
if I can patiently wait for the
batteries to charge fully, that is.
At any rate, keep up the good work, yall, and thanks again for this excellent forum. It is a most valuable resource.
