I have to admit, I spend alot of time online, too much actually. And consider myself fairly informed. But today I learned something new from my grown daughter. E-cigarettes! She couldn't believe I'd never heard of them. Now that I've been doing my usual research of anything new I hear about, I can't believe what I'm learning!
Sorry to be so ignorant. All of the terms, abbreviations, I have no idea what they mean, but am sure going to find out. Fascinating!
I am a 58 yr. old grandmother. I've been smoking since I was 20 with a 6 yr. hiatus. I watched my mother die from COPD and my father from pneumonia from smoking. Yes, the addiction never goes away. But I know the habit can.
I am so excited to have discovered this wonderful new technology but I have no idea where to start. I've only looked at 2 websites, njoy, which was pretty straightforward and Ruyan, which was totally confusing.
Am I on the right website? Everyone, even the new posters, seem to be so knowledgeable of the various types of equipment and supplies. I really don't know where to start. Of course, I don't want to spend a fortune but I don't have to scrimp on quality. Right now I smoke about 2 packs a day of vanilla flavored little cigars (much cheaper than regular cigarettes by at least half).
But I DO want to try this thing and see if it will help me quit "analogs".
Hopefully, this website, along with others, will lead me in the right direction.

Hello everyone,

Would you please add your country location to your profile so that people can answer your questions more easily.

To do this go to User CP (at the left of the top navigation bar).

On this page, you will see a new navigation bar on the left. Click edit your details and scroll down the page until you reach "location". Enter your country there and click "save changes".

That's it!

If you want to fill in any of the other fields, please feel free to do so too!
Thanks for your wonderful idea !;)

Since this appears to be the de facto-newbie-introductory-thread, hello everyone, from “Sparky” in Illinois, U.S.A.

First off, thank you all for such an interesting and informative forum! Like practically everyone who initially becomes aware of e-cigs/personal vaporizers (I had no idea such things existed until just recently – where the heck have I been??), I am loaded with questions. I’m so glad I discovered this forum! My questions are being answered as I delve into the various sections (and having read each and every post to this point in this thread!). To the forum administrators, moderators, and to the contributors all, I would like to express my deepest appreciation.

I’m a male, age fifty-something, and a former cigarette smoker (who greatly enjoyed it). After smoking for over 25 years, I quit 11 years ago. I started up again in 2006 and smoked for less than a year, then quit again. My reason for quitting initially? My lovely wife. She had never smoked, and I didn’t want her exposed to my secondhand smoke. Shortly after we were married we discovered she had developed asthma, most likely due to her excessive exposure to secondhand smoke as a child. My quitting had been quite fortuitous. When my relatively brief return into the world of tobacco smoking ensued (I really missed my nicotine!), I smoked only outdoors or near an open window with the wind blowing so that the smoke vented outside, and never anywhere near her. The hassle of that, combined with her continued requests that I quit, found me sans cigarettes again.

I read here on the forum where someone stated that “one can quit smoking, but one can never cease nicotine addiction;” that’s certainly true for me! Concerning personal vaporizers, another user remarked that he/she “can eat my cake and have it, too.” Well, to say that I’m excited with the prospect of enjoying nicotine again, via an oral intake method somewhat similar to traditional combustion inhalation, is an understatement. However, from what I’ve read here, I clearly understand that vaping is distinctly different from smoking; I’m not going into this thinking it will be the same, by any means. In fact, I’m preparing myself for experiencing something completely different, well-aware that one of its differences is that it’s neither as reliable, nor as simple as the traditional cigarette smoking ritual.

I just ordered my first e-cig starter kit, and am eagerly waiting for it to be delivered! I’m almost giddy with the thought of how, when the often recurring urge hits and a little voice in my head says yet again, “I sure wish I had a cigarette right about now,” I can satisfy that urge and let that little voice say, “Ahhhh…” Perhaps I’ll post a (somewhat less verbose) follow-up after it arrives… if I can patiently wait for the batteries to charge fully, that is.

At any rate, keep up the good work, y’all, and thanks again for this excellent forum. It is a most valuable resource.

-- Sparky

Tulsa Oklahoma isn't much but a big howdy from there.
Glad I found this forum, it's loaded with great advice. Now if this old brain can absorb it all. 46 years old been smoking for 30 2+ packs a day until today. Currently working with a 901, don't think the wife quite understand and thinks it's just another "program".

Anyway glad to be here.

If anyone locally is willing to allow me to try one, that would be fantastic!

Hi fellow vapers!

Joined the group 2 days ago after trolling for about a week. I have been vaping now for a little over a month and wish I had found this site before I made my first purchase. I spent $130 at a Quantum Cig mall kiosk for a 901 starter kit. I do have a 1 year warranty though and have used the warranty twice to replace batts.... I guess that's why their prices are so high.

Anyway, just wanted to say hi and say that this is a wonderfully informative site. I have learned so much from the posts and videos that I feel ready to jump into the DIY arena. I have been smoking on and off for 25 years (since I was a teen) and e-cigs are a great alternative to the analogs. I don't plan to ever go back! :D

I just had to (briefly, like I promised) announce that my Joye510 arrived today! It's simply terrific. I can again enjoy wonderful nicotine -- this time without bothering anyone else, plus a myriad of other benefits!

WOOO HOOOOO! :D

Hi everybody! Checking in from Atlanta, GA. Just ordered my first e-cigs kit and can not wait for it to arrive. I've been browsing these forums for a few days now and felt I had learned enough to go with a 901. My regret now is that I didn't look into some of the members of this forum who distribute. Oh well, I'm sure I'll be making plenty more purchases in the future!

I think I put my location in the right spot. I quit smoking about 15 years ago. Right before that I was smoking about 2 or more packs a day. Over the last 5 years or so, I have had occasions where I smoke a random cigarette while out or even smoke for a week to a couple of months at a time before putting them down again.

I found out about e-cigs when a friend bought one at a mall kiosk a few months ago. I thought they'd be a good solution to my ongoing relapse moments. I looked around in stores and never found them so finally looked them up online. I wasn't in a rush but lately I have been under a lot of stress and started buying cigarettes.

I lurked here a bit and decided to order a 510 starter kit. It arrived yesterday and so far it seems to be doing the trick. I decided to get non-nic juice since my smoking habit is more of a nervous compulsion than it is a need for nicotine. I think I'm going through some withdrawl since I'd been smoking for a little while before this but I have no desire to smoke an analog now that I have my e-cig. I do have some nicotine carts in case I really feel like I need some to wean off a little more gently.

Hello to all,
Since this is my first post I figured It should be in here.

Just wanted to say hello. And thank you for all of the information I have learned on this forum, I have been looking at a few different places, and found the information I have gained here priceless.
I am proud to say I have now been smoke-free for four days. I'm going put up one of those little analog counter, if I can figure out how.

I started out with a BE901 from e.cig.com which turns out to be I guess a DSE901? But I think the atomizers are a bit different, something about a hole. If anyone knows about this or a thread about it it would be a lot of help.

I liked this (vaping) a lot, and have now placed an order for two Titan 510 manual battery starter kits kits from totally wicked.com. And may also by the charging case soon. Not promoting any sites are anything like that its just simply where I bought them. I'm hoping the 510's will be here tomorrow Monday. August 17, or 18 from what I can see the 510 is a nice vapor producer. I'm 49 years old and have been smoking for 35 of them---- up until now
I need to have a LOT of Vapor and a Hard Throat hit and have tried the Tian 510 a friend let me try and WOW -Made me cough. That's why I ordered a kit for myself and the wife! We both need one that can be used in a Professional atmosphere unlike the Screwdriver and things like that-- I'm sure they work great but I cannot use something that's not a stick type pv.

I have tried countless ways to try to quit smoking. Like a lot of people I'm sure I know. But in my case, I had his hand to mouth, oral fixation thing going on that just made it almost impossible for me to quit smoking. And a e-cig has done the trick for me anyway. It's just amazing, the Craving for the Cigarette Is Gone !
All I can say it is. I am so glad that I found this forum.

I'm looking forward to being here as much as I can, with work and I'll, will be popping in and out.
Sal
