Yep there are some really good mods out there now. The Provari is falling behind a little but you can't beat them for longevity. When you press that button they just seem to always work. I remember when I got my first one waited 5 weeks for it to arrive, my wife thought I was crazy spending that kind of money now we have 5 including hers. She has no interest in rebuilding she likes her Provari and nautilus especially since they came out with the BVC's all she uses. Always works I keep track of her heads and change when needed.

I want to start this by saying I don't now or ever have owned a provari. Why is the provari falling behind? Because it's not higher wattage?? I don't hardly think that means it's behind anything. Some people don't want, need, or even care about all this high wattage. Honestly an older provari is on my short list of devices I want to own one day still. I think it would fire my Kayfun just fine, and occasionally I still grab a nautilus and head out the door if I'm going somewhere and don't feel like I want to mess with dripping and feel like I want something different than the juice currently in the Kayfun. I still have a little bitty kanger tank (forget which one) on an adjustable ego battery ( I think it was called a spinner) I've been known to carry out and about for stealth (yes sneaking).....Every device I've used since the century 21st and yes even the blu's keep me off cigarettes. Isn't that what this is supposed to be about? Have I progressed since then? Of course, but everyone wouldn't necessarily wish to do that.

I just bought a new P3 for my wife, she could care less about how high the thing goes. God knows she's never vaped a watt above 10w. Perfectly happy and very excited they came out with a new mod.

At the end of the day it comes down to this, if you like rebuildables and can use them with the knowledge required to be safe fine use them, but I don't care if you are using a disposable like n-joy kings you are vaping.

Even if you are dual using, it isn't about how many you might have smoked, it is about how many you didn't smoke, and how even 1 less per day is a start towards being smoke free and healthier.

IDK everytime I put something in this thread it is taken wrong. I think the Provari is one of the best mods on the market today. That's why I have 5 in dailly rotation but it took them a long time to come out with VW and in todays market 20w isn't enough for some people. I don't think you can get a better tasting mod then the Provari and I discussed this with Busardo he feels the same way he said that he think it is because there is nothing out there with a cleaner signal. They put a lot into them. I have a friend that works there and they are all about quality quality quality but there are some others out there that are comparable maybe not quite as good of quality but they are out there. Not $250 either. I tried to recommend what I thought were good mods for newbies the MVP3 seems like the best to me right now but I've only been vaping for 7 years so what do I know. Go ahead build a .3ohm atty and stick it on a 150w mod and have at it. There didn't used to be anything that compared to the Provari but things are changing rapidly. You can bet they are working on something at Provape. He said they have a special room there just for R&D and it is locked off limits to regular employees and they are working but I think their biggest concern right now is this states proposal on Vaping Products. That would make them move to another state. They are fighting it but the politicians are not thinking with their heads they are thinking with their wallets.

I did not mean to offend nor "take wrong" your post. I understand there are mods that do more wattage and of course the earlier provari's didn't have adjustable wattage. I had a 1965 Ford station wagon and it took me in just as grand of style as anything newer I drive today. (ok maybe better and hell I could work on the thing). Believe me, I use over 1 ohm coils in my kayfun, 1 ish ohm coils in two of my Valkyrie minis and just under 1ohm in my full size valkyries and my tugboat. I guess I'm really behind the times cause I still use mechanical mods more than anything. (took a long time to get to this point).

I made the statement about the provari being on my short list just because of it's build quality and longevity. I can tell you that out of all the "box type regulated mods" I tried under a hundred bucks nothing beat the MVP 2 for durability and "just working". All of the MVP's I ever purchased are still in service today albeit I gave most to vapors starting out. (Still have one). I haven't had a chance to get a 3 yet but that's on my list also.

I just last night had an opportunity to try an arctic tank and I must say this is the first thing I've tried in a long time that could honestly in day to day usage replace one of my Valkyries or my Tugboat. For that I'm guessing I'll need either another mechanical mod or even better yet slightly higher wattage box.

Again, please, no disrespect was intended nor any misunderstanding. I simply was stating the opinion that at least a few of us share here, the Provari isn't behind any times rather, something that was apparently just built well enough that they figured they didn't need to change it to all this new high wattage stuff. High wattage isn't for everyone nor, should it be.

I actually started with the 7-11 ecigs about 2007 or so. I wasn't pleased so I dropped out until the APV's hit the scene. In the beginning we were purchasing all product, which wasn't too expensive in 2011, but juices and wicks have certainly gone up since. I was making my own coils for a while for the Kanger ProTanks. By the time you figured in the cost of my time, it was actually cheaper to buy them. When we switched to the AeroTanks and with the dual coils this was even more so. For Christmas one of the other vapers here (there are 3 of us) gave me an Aspire Atlantis. Since my Vamo's and JoyeTech eVic's couldn't handle it we obtained the KangerTech K-Simar 20. This is basically a "crossover" unit, and will handle sub-ohms down to 0.5 ohm. Like other crossovers it doesn't do either job well, but does OK on both of them. I would love to see wick suppliers switch to all organic cotton wicks, but don't see this happening any time soon.

We've been making our own juice since 3 months after we started. One of our vapers really liked Hi-Caliber's "Killa Vanilla" flavor, but quality wasn't consistent on it. We've been trying to duplicate it since. No luck so far, but we make several fruity-minty flavors and savories that our friends and we enjoy. For about $6 for an 8-ounce (~240ml) bottle. Including the bottle. We use flavorings from The Flavor Apprentice (on-line). She has great info on her flavors including any inhalation issues. If even one customer has a complaint she posts it, allowing you to make an informed decision.

I think it's OK to start off with canned equipment and juice and work your way up. I do reccomend getting only units with replaceable rechargeable batteries. It's easier to carry a spare (in an insulated case for safety) and stand-alone, protected chargers are a safer charging method.

The primary goal is to enjoy the vape, however you do it.

I cannot, and thanks for calling me an idiot :glare: I absolutely despise building coils. I bought something that requires me to build them but I made sure I bought a device that only requires me to build a coil a couple of times a year. To build those despised coils, I have to use a coiling gizmo. Yes, I can build a coil...when I absolutely have to. I do not like doing it. I am not one that can tolerate small work. That's the only time I get shaky and desperately want a cigarette, even after not smoking even one in over two years.

No actually, chances are these are people that have become desperate to get away from smoking. They have stumbled upon this site while searching for the term "E-Cigarette". Some of the lesser known sites are where you will more than likely find the people that you are speaking of.

That is all we are saying, new members need to do their due diligence also. You are not the first person to come onto ECF and think that they need to tell all the new members to build their own and DIY liquids. Please remember, there are MANY new members that have no idea what even the threading on their device is. They don't even know what all the acronyms are.

Even in this thread there were questions that many vets consider new member questions. I never once saw anyone that was recommending the "new member build your own" answer those questions. None even acknowledged the questions asked. They were more interested in furthering their pissing contest.

Thank you to the vets that did help those new members. I applaud you heartily.
I wasn't trying to call anybody an idiot and if I offended, I'm very sorry. I was using it more as a figure of speech, saying it's not as complicated as a lot of people make it. Maybe I could have worded it differently.

And there are a few ways people can go about doing this. They can wrap themselves, by a device like you just mentioned or even buy a bag of already premade coils as I mentioned earlier which are very easy to install and are a small fraction of the cost of a pack of stock heads and last substantially longer.

When people come here for recommendations, I see quite a bit of information and suggestions that aren't always the best. I even saw one instance where a new user who lived in a rural area had to drive two hours to the closest B&M because nobody bothered to tell them their pack of coils probably won't last long.

Everybody just recommended a mod, a tank, a pack of coils and just sent them on their way. Not really touching base about the maintenance involved, the risk of burning their coils or what certain juices do to coils. With a prewrapped coil for an RDA or RTA, the fix would have been as easy as just threading new wick.

Now sure. Doing this might not be for everyone but then again, a tank might be too complicated for some as well. It's not like we are recommending those people use cigalikes though.

Oh and there are so many coil building tools out there myself I have and authentic Coil-Master and love it. If you use RIP's wire straightening method it wraps a perfect microcoil every time from 1mm to 3mm in .5 increments. It was a little wonky till I tried the wire straightening and that really works even for nickel which I am not a fan of but I have tried a lot of coils with it. Twisted 32 spaced with tempered nickel from the UK everything. I even bought the prebuilt heads for the Kanger and the Nautilus they all suck. It is really hard to wrap really really hard to place and get a perfect connection works great for me for about 3 hours then I start hitting Temperature Protect with all of them. I have heard that they work a little better on a dripper but it is not the answer for me, so I have a roll of 28, tempered 29 and 2 rolls of 32. The 32 is like working with frog hair.

I agree I use mostly TFA also but I didn't care for some of her fruits so I got Hangsen Mango really good and Inawera Blue Berry and Raspberry also got some I think its FA Vanilla Tahity. Yep 2007 wasn't my best year got really sick in a coma for 3 weeks and had to have both legs amputated below the knee. Almost didn't make it. But thats water under the bridge. 08 is when I started ordering stuff whilst laying in my hospital bed and learning to walk again which gave me lots of time to read up on vaping. Gave me something to do laying around the house.
