New Vapor from the Midwest!

Hey y'all, names Kyle. Last November I purchased my first PV, a Joye Dura-C 510. I was hoping it would help me with my cig habit. I have to admit it takes some getting used to. I am HIGHLY addicted to cigarettes and I felt like it wasn't doing anything for me so I shelved it. Fast forward to now, I learned that there are different strengths of e-liquid and ordered some of the highest nicotine content available (Totally Wicked 36mg Orange Flavored). This past week I continued to smoke analogues while getting acclimated with my 510, and have noticed a dramatic drop in the amount of cigarettes I consume (pack and a half a day down to 8). It seems like the more I vape the less appealing cigarettes look (and taste!) Like previously stated I am highly addicted to nicotine and to help along with the PV I snus as well. If I keep going at this rate the snus will be gone as well and all that would be left is my PV. I just ordered a second PV (the 801 Penstyle) and Vaporbomb's Green apple e-liquid. Sorry for the long post, hope to see you all on the forums!

Nice thing about going with the stronger e-juice is you can always pick up some PG or VG and mix it down to your liking.

I might mix it down after I get used to not smoking like a chimney, but right now the higher nicotine mixed with a strong snus is the only way to get the nicotine chimpanzee off my back

I know what your saying. I used to smoke hand rolled cigarettes with "Peter Stokkebye Norwegian Shag" tobacco. The nicotine content in the tobacco and the filterless cigarette make it pretty potent. I was one of those that if I had to bum a smoke from a friend I would tear off the filter and have to smoke a few of them to get my fix.

When I switched to vaping fulltime, I could get away with lower nicotine content in the evening when I chain vape. During the day however, when I could only take a hit occasionally, 36mg was my friend.

I continued smoking when I first started vaping. Many people do. My cigarettes kept tapering down until I was smoking 5-6 per day. I then had to make a concious decision not to smoke anymore. I know me, and if there are cigarettes lying around, I'd talk myself into smoking one. It's easier for me if there just aren't any.

Welcome to ECF!

Is it normal to still smoke (albeit less) when you first start vaping and then work your way off the analogs? Or should I go through the discomfort and stop smoking right away?

When I started vaping I had no intention of really quitting analogs. It was more to get away from smoke breaks at work and a nicotine fix at home when the kids are around. My smoking just sort of tapered off on it's own. I grew to like vaping more than smoking I guess.

I still get an occasional feeling that I want an analog. I use to roll one up and smoke it. I would never finish it. The taste, the smoke, psychosomatic .... I don't know. I reached a point where I just preferred vaping.

So .... if you feel the need for an analog .... I say smoke one. Everyone knows the downside to analogs, especially smokers. If you can get your fix from vaping then I feel it will eventually just happen ..... almost on it's own.

It took me over 2 months to completely stop smoking. I knew from past experience that if I put too much effort into it, or too much conscious thought into it, then I would FAIL. That's the way my stupid brain works (it hates me). I didn't try to "stop smoking", I tried to "start vaping". I kept my cigarettes a little farther away from me than my e-cig. I kept trying new flavors, from different vendors. I bought different equipment. I obsessed over cartridge mods, refill tricks, tube mods, etc. I spent ......ed amounts of time on ECF... wait, I still do that :D. I slowly got down to 1 or 2 cigarettes a day, then about 2 or 3 a week, and then sometime around the first week of January, I realized that I hadn't smoked a cigarette since a day or two after Christmas... I WON!!
