Hummm....

After reading this thread about the cleaning and maintenance of the heads to the vivi and stardust, I am concerned that my soaking them in vinegar might be a bad choice. The seem to get clean and I don't notice any funky taste, but is the vinegar problematic for the wicks and/or coils??

Also, I've seen a number of threads that say juice that turns dark is not harmful to vape. Some of mine has a tendency to turn dark but the taste has been okay... just okay, not great. I kind of think that dark, thickened juice may be bad on coils and wicks. Any thought??

Hope everyone had a great 4th. Looking forward to getting some of these new pretty colors... especially yellow ;)

This definetly looks interesting, but how long before they come out with a "newer, better, improved" version of this? I'm still going to order one, as i like the idea of having replacable heads.

there is no new versions, this is it
the head issue has been fixed many weeks ago, what you see if final. now there will be new heads coming that arent ce2 style but thats options added to the systems. all mini nivas and vivi novas and stardust rebuildables are final in design , they all contain the new plastic, the bases are all final and the heads are doing very well across the board with very minor issues being discussed.

as i said you will see new dript tip styles and new heads that could be dct styled etc but no changes to the units themselves.

Mine almost always turn darker in the Stardusts - drastically so. I haven't noticed any harm to the coils - granted, I haven't paid all that much attention, it may be gunking things up a bit faster, but I don't really know for sure. Still, they clean up just fine. To be honest, I have yet to pop a coil in a Stardust, if they go out of service, it's because the tubes cracked, and the new tubes are not suposed to do that...

I haven't noticed any problems, in other words, though I try to remember shake things up a bit once in while, so that if the issue is the settling of pigment, or flavor particles separating, or some such, it doesn't get a chance to happen.

I have to say; i LOVE THIS PRODUCT!!!! I had the joyce 510, and it was ok. but the battery life was disaster. Then I got the EGO and Stardust. WOW. No refilling carts daily, no dripping mess, no nothing; but good smooth vape. I cannot tell you guys how much i love this product! just wonderful!

Yeah, this happens with many of my juices, and also happens in the vivi.

I'm pretty sure the dark color is mostly due to the sweeteners in juices, either naturally occurring or added to the mix, caramelizing on the coil and washing back into the juice. Note that a very small amount of dark stuff will color a lot of juice.

If it tastes bad, I just shake out the last drops and rinse out the tank before refilling. Wet burnt sugars on coils and wicks will wash off easily in hot water. Just don't let them dry out too much.

kewl Francis, hope you love em! I couldn't handle filler type cartos at all myself, but love clearos. Just gotta find my perfect one. Pretty sure these new stardusts, and one or two others will solve the issues I was having with other ones.

I haven't had much trouble with juices getting darker, one or two maybe.

I'm like a kid on Christmas morn. My Smarties and 2x Stardusts arrived today. GotVapes shipped on 7/3 and it's already here, 2 days later even with a holiday sandwiched. Kudos GotVapes for quick shipping.

Loaded it up with DK-Tab as I have loaded on my Ego-C tank currently. So far, no leaks, no juice coming out of the drip tip. Flavor is not there yet but not complaining. These things have break-in period I suppose. But it's very promising. Vapor is at par with Ego-C tank at this point. Can't wait to see what it's capable of once broken in. Very easy to assemble so that translates to easy cleaning. Loading up with juice is even easier than Ego-C tank.

So far, 5 thumbs up!!! Great product GotVapes.

Edit: Forgot to mention, they look cool!!!

Got my order today and having same issue as far as condensation - really "smokey", although I have no leaking. I was also wondering if this was normal. Also been getting a lot of burnt hits. Mine has the dedicated 2.4 stardust coil head - short wick.

Laura

I realize this thread's pretty long at this point, but my solution for the leaking (I think this is just trapped condensation somewhere in the post, probably directly above the atomizer head/in the drip-tip) is as follows:

1. ball up a napkin or paper towel's end, stuffing a nice bit of it in the area the Stardust would meet your battery or adapter.

2. Firmly grasp the Stardust/paper towel and shake it like you would an overfilled carto, making sure to hold at least one finger over the paper towel at the bottom.

3. Repeat a couple of times, moving to a new area of the paper towel/napkin if necessary

4. Re-test the Stardust. Any gurgling or condensation should be gone.

5. If this fails to resolve your issue, check the bottom of your drip tip for condensation build up around the seal at the very top of the Stardust. Usually, un-threading and letting this juice seep back down into the tank is sufficient to clear any trapped juice. If not, blow out your drip tip.

6. Alternatively to #5, roll up a small segment of paper towel that will fit inside the drip tip of the stardust, and poke it down inside the drip tip. If you have the Vivi head on there, make sure you don't poke it all the way into the wick, or it will just wick juice up into the towel. Spin the towel once or twice, remove, and vape away!

Hope that helps.

You may or may not need to do this every day or couple of days.

I'm sorry, but I'm not sure about the dry hits. Some juices I used in the old Stardusts would gunk them up. I currently use only gunk-free juices in my Stardusts, and inspecting the wick proved helpful- it was very clean after several days of nonstop vaping. Wick has ever so slightly darkened, but only on one side. I like the insulator part inside of the head.

If you still get leaks, make sure you're not filling above the 1.6ml line. Gravity seems like it wants to force juice through the wick above this level, but it won't happen with all heads you put on the Stardust. Some of them have even more dense wicks, but the interesting part is that one side is almost always longer than the other.

~ For cleaning ~

IPA or PGA soaks (sitting the soak container in some really hot water helps) will work for this purpose (if you use IPA, make sure all of it evaporates before vaping as this stuff converts to acetone in the blood IIRC). I haven't had to dry burn one of these yet, but I'll try to update you folks if it ever happens. I may simply use PGA to keep the wicks clean, because the coil shows no evidence of buildup (I opened a Stardust up and the coils were still shiny).

EDIT: At this point, I can reiterate my previous feelings- it's practically like dripping, without the hassle. Really digging these new Stardusts, and even the long-wick 1.8 Vivi head seems to be working great on them.

Traitor!

But it does work great, doesn't it.

Whoops, that was a misspell. I meant pleasant on my finger tips. The way I hold it on my dongle, my thumb rests on the knurling and I find myself just rubbing it....

That sounds vaguely sexual doesn't it? Nevertheless, I like it. But then, you are talking to the girl who coordinates her pvs with her weaponry and whose favorite zippo had the diamond pattern like on toolboxes and old ford bumpers. ;)
