I'm going to do the same. ideal coil placement is going to be tricky. It will definitely need to be higher than dead center to properly put it in the middle of the airflow.

I'm hoping that with coil placement experimentation, I can get better performance from the Bellus.

Gave this one more go as an experiment based on your thoughts. Previous builds I had a 3mm coil and the air ports looking right on to the center of the coil.

2.25mm inner diameter coil, 26 gauage, 13 wraps. Set very high- just the bottom part of the coil is visible through the air slot. Wicks are very thin, don't even think about top filling with this build- I bottom filled it through the juice port with a needle tip bottle.

Airflow is crazy. Lots of vapor, vaporizing very efficiently. 3.6mg 80/20 juice made my head spin after just a few drags.

I recently sold a lot of my older tanks and mods and bought an authentic squape r s. Best thing I ever did. Piss easy to build and wick, satisfying clouds (OK won't win any comps) but I haven't had to mess with it at all and the flavour is right up there.

I just got sick of rebuilding and rewicking time and time again, getting inconsistent results. I haven't touched my remaining tanks since and I have a lot more time to play games!

Vape on, live long!

Aheatedatom, I also have (2) Goblins, and a Goliath v2. I was hoping that the Bellus would be better than those based on the performance trend of those tanks.

However, I too still like the Goliath 2 best of all for its great performance, even with it's design flaws.

Anyway, I'm on my 3rd coil build (and 4th setup) with the Bellus and it's doing much better now. Still not great, but acceptable.

The high coils are doing the trick for me too. Ironically, building high coils defeats the purpose of side airflow. Once the coils are set higher than the air slots, it basically becomes a bottom airflow system.

I had no wire debris as Skyboxer suggested.

The side airflow was providing inadequate airflow over my titanium temp controlled coils causing uneven heating. The back/bottom of the coils was hotter than the front/top causing sizzling and harsh hits.

Lifting those coils helped a bit, so I scrapped that build and made super high coils. Now it's performing pretty darned good. Flavor is close to the Goliath, but vapor production is still lower. As a bonus, the aiflow has opened way up! Its just as airy as the Goliath 2 with the high coils.

Super high coils. This build seems very counterintuitive compared to every other tank i have, but its working great! However, its completely defeating the purpose of side airflow.View attachment 500024
I have the Steamcrave RDTA which is a similar principal. The best way from my experience is to look through the air hole and make sure the coil is high enough so that you can see the bottom of it.

That way the air comes in under the coil and draws the vapour up, leaving nothing swilling about underneath. I find that if the coil is right in front of the hole, firstly it impairs the airflow and secondly, the flavour isn't as good.

Just had mine for 3 hours and going thru the 20th ml of juice. Running with dual coils 24g 5 wraps 2.5mm id coil height at exactly next to the airflow hole. 0.19 ohms hitting at 60w on my xcube2.

I never thought I would put down my Zephy tank for it. Just love the flavour out of it. Never had a chance to try out the Goliath v2 thou so can't compare.

At first I thought it would leak like crazy. First round did as I trim the wicks just like the zephy which is too thin and leaks. Second round with thicker wick does the job.

Also tried it at 65w on my ipv4s. Still runs well.

Loving it so far.

P.s. I still think the goblin mini runs better on the ipv4s.
