I only plan on 18650s. I am going slow when inserting the battery. I just don't know if a tight fit is what the manufacture wanted? It does fit but really snug/tight. I am just curious if this will destroy the internal components that are visible. Also If I buy the larger cap will a 18650 batt fit inside better?
Take out the battery and look down at the contact for the battery, it is a small brass ring but it is only soldered to the circut board on one side so it is kind of fragile. I use the extended cap for 18350's and its a little tighter than I would like but I can also use the 18650 with the same cap. So do you have the long spring in the short cap? Just count the coils.

It looks like 4? The coil just pops out.
4 is good to go then as some folks were getting 5 in their short cap (besides me)

I just tried my short cap with short spring with an 18650 and threads mate with out having to push against the spring, I then put the long spring in the short cap with 18650 and it would go be was hard to start the threads due to the spring tension. Maybe take a real good look at the pictures of springs and caps that I posted and set your cap and spring together like mine and compare them as it should be real easy to put the cap on an 18650, it almost feels like no spring on mine.

SdH the extended cap work excellent . The standard no , you can cut some coils off then flip it around so that part is inside the cap and good side up, or buy hardware store spring and cut to fit.
Honey do list for someone ? lol
Are you using a extended cap with 18650 batts dies? How many coils should I cut off? Or should I buy a extended cap?

I have had four Max's so far (still have 3, sold 1) all the short battery caps had a spring the length of the shorter one in the picture except the v2 that I just got.
It had the same long spring as the extended cap so i switched it with the spring that came in the short cap of my v1.
Then I cut one coil off the extra long spring, heated till red the cut end and just pushed it down flat like the other end. I would cut the one in the extended cap but I use it for both battery setup and it would be to short for the 18650.View attachment 149764
5 coils vs 4 coils

LOL my coil is identical to the coil on the left side of this photo. I forgot to count the bottom one. It is a extremely tight fit. I think they should have made this better. Or sent the extenders with the package. IDK kind of disappointed in this. Now I have to buy something else or mod something to make it work. :( Ok, small rant over with.

As you can tell not every girl is mechanically inclined. I don't want to ask dh because then he will know I have bought yet another PV. LOL

SdH , i was going to buy a new spring but smushed my spring with a pair of pliers. Useing flat top efest 18650 they now fit fine button top a little on the snug side and i may cut off 1 coil and everything should be okie dokie.

In your case say cut off a coil at a time and try for fit if too snug cut again. Once they fit you can bend the very end tip a little downwards to make sure it will not dig into your battery.
