It has been 24 hours since my last cigarette! I am so happy!
:rickroll:
I can't say its been super easy, but it hasn't been hard either. My biggest problem right now is figuring out a juice I like and knowing the difference between when I am getting enough or too much nicotine. I keep feeling an anxious feeling, but not sure if it is from not vaping enough or needing to take a break. I seem to be vaping a lot! I am using 12mg, but have some 18mg for when I feel like I need more. I really dont want to go higher than this, but will if I really need to. I have a bunch of bottles of 12mg from mount baker Vapor, but have only found one so far that I really really enjoy. I have been a PAD smoker for 23 years, smoking Marlboro menthol lights. For the first 2 weeks using my ecig I was still smoking 2-4 cigarettes a day. I think I am set for now on equipment, 3 vision spinners and 6 mini protanks and probably 450ml of juice

I know how you feel... I kept getting headaches my first week and couldn't decide if it was withdrawal or overdose. I finally discovered it was too much nicotine... I went from smoking only in certain situations... going outside, making sure I wasn't offending anyone ... to 24 hour in-house pleasure.

I actually found it better to try to treat vaping a little like smoking; make it an event, not an all-the-time thing. But above all, do as much as you need to stay off smokes. It'll probably be easier than you expect. Hope so!

Welcome and congratulations! Stick with it. It does get easier as time goes by. I remember not feeling completely satisfied with vaping when I first started...there was just something intangible missing. I wouldn't hesitate to vape a lot to avoid a cigarette, and it worked. I'd suggest to not hesitate on the 18mg if it keeps you away from a cigarette. I started at 24mg and am now down to 6mg.

I feel like its now or never. I have tried quitting with the patch, chantix, welbuterin, cold turkey but nothing worked. This is as close as I can get to smoking without it being the real thing :) I am nervous about all I have read about possibly future bans. Hoping it doesnt happen, but just in case I think I need to make this work while I still can. I am doing good though, even when my husband is smoking beside me I think it stinks!

Welcome and Congrats.

From what you posted, sounds like 12mg is probably your best choice.

It took me 3-4 days before I knew I could say bye to the analogs. YMMV.

Looks like your next mission is to sway your husband to the vaping world. That will make it all that much easier for YOU.

Good Luck, and don't be afraid to ask about anything on this forum. It is great.

I had that same anxious feeling for the first week I was vaping. Like I was waiting for something to happen, but I didn't know quite what it was. I decided that I was using too low nicotine mg. in my juice. I was a very heavy, 2 pack a day, long time smoker, and I started too low. I bumped up to 24 mg. and the anxious feeling went away immediately.

And looking back to that first week, I think I was also anxious waiting for an irresistible craving for a cigarette to overtake me. Fortunately, that did not happen, then or now. I am very comfortable and coming up on two months without smoking a cigarette.

Congratulations, and keep it up! 24 hours is a big deal for a smoker! Ask me how I know.:)

PS I also think I pretty well fried my taste buds with all those years of smoking. The juices I had at first didn't taste bad, but they didn't have the flavor I heard everyone talking about. The first juice I could really say had a distinct taste was Mt. Baker Vapor Cinnamon Roll, and it's still my favorite. I don't think my taste buds have completely come back yet.

I wanted to ask real quick if anyone knows what can I do about my extremely dry mouth? I am drinking a lot of water, but I have been waking up in the mornings feeling dried out. Are there any tricks, or is this something that will get better? My juice is 50pg/50vg

I had that problem for a couple of weeks but it seems to have passed (I'm 2 months in). Drinking water is about all I know to do about it, but it does seem that the body kind of levels out once it realizes the change is permanent... or something like that.

I'm pretty dry, too, especially in the mornings. I just try to do what everyone says, hydrate and hydrate some more. Some people have suggested Biotene mouthwash, but I haven't tried it. My mouth was dry in the morning when I smoked, too. I think I am probably more of a mouth breather by nature, but since I don't see myself sleep, I don't really know. I've asked my hubby but I think he thinks he would be in trouble if he said I slept with my mouth open, so he says things like, "Oh not really." I think he means yes.:D

Oh I have that one! I haven't tried it yet, but it smells good so far. I hope you are right and my taste buds come back and they taste good. It would be sad to have all that juice and not like it.

Most of the smokers that I help find that vaping is not only quite different, but after some time they vape less than they used to smoke; one friend smokes 24mg, but only takes a few hits a day; other friends started at 18mg and are now down to 6mg; also depends on how powerful the vape is .... cloud chaser folks water their stuff down to 3mg lol

Congrats to you!
This place is a wealth of knowledge and support.

I started 100% vaping 1/1/14 and found that I drank 6-8 pint glasses of water a day but occasionally had dry mouth bordering on vape tongue in the first 2-3 weeks. For me, a couple different types of gum helped big time during the day. Kept my salivary glands very active and seemed to keep my tongue surface coated.
Best of luck to you and have fun digging through all the forums here!

I buy bottled water now, and always have one near me; our tap water really tastes nasty to me.

As for the nic thing: I'm on 2.4% after being an Olympic standard 40 a day smoker, and I can't achieve a nic overdose (that queasy feeling) before I get bored with vaping and put it down. Your headache may simply be dehydration...yeah I know, you could break an arm round here and someone would tell you it was dehydration.

One thing though: booze; I find to my dismay that I simply can't drink as much. I'm drunk after just a couple of meagre glasses of vodka. And the dehydration in the morning! Oh lord man.

Nice move on ditching the tobacco burning btw.

Nice! Keep it up, don't give into the darkside of big tobacco, lol. I've been clean for a 30 days. Just keep puffing that vapor as much as you need to, chain vape it if you have to get through it. The first week is the roughest, after that it's easy. You already did the hard part, finding a juice you like. Your sense of taste and smell with start coming back in a couple days to a week and your taste may change. I was looking for hard tabacco juices at first. Now that my smell came back and my taste buds started tasting full flavors again I finally settled on RY4 flavor.

Good Luck, Keep it Up, Don't Give Up!!!
