I just tried vaping about 3 weeks ago. I tried the 10 pack sampler from vaporgod.com and varied up the VG % to see what I like.

So far, I found almost all juices cause me to cough or cease up my lungs while inhaling, except for one flavor, the cinammon redhot with 40% VG and 8mg nicotine. This one flavor is smooht, doesn't cause me to cough or cease up when inhaling. There are a few other flavors with the same 40% vg and 8mg nicotine, but I can't really inhale them...any idea what my problem is or is this typical?

1 out of 10 that I can vape doesn't give me a whole lot of options. I find smoking analog cig is more pleasurable because of it.

it could be that you have an allergy to vg or pg it is more common with pg so maybe try a 100% vg juice and see if that helps as well as the flavorings from some companies don't agree with certain people. I am lucky enough to have had no problems but try vapedudes you can choose from many ratios and if there is a certain one you want you can call and they will help you out the customer service is awesome. As well as they only use flavorings no added sugars or sweeteners which can cause problems and clog up gear real quick, and i believe none of the flavors they use are oil based which can cause problems I am sure they would let ya know if ya sent them an e-mail or called them up. Just keep searching till you find something that works there is alot out there and it can seem a little overwhelming. Good luck and keep on vaping, don't loose faith on your first 10 bottles that's not much in the long run.

I've found that vaping is most similar to newbie lungs as a steam room. One thing I've noticed is that non vapers and/or smokers find a dryer hit easier to tolerate.

I would keep in mind that, like a buddy of mine, some people are allergic to certain brands. He was pretty sure one company's juice was processed in a nut factory. Do you have any severe allergies?

I will definitely keep trying other manufacturers, vapor dudes looks promising. It did occur to me that maybe vaporized flavors have chemicals that are causing my lungs to cease up. Just the one red hot flavor from vaporgods is the only tolerable one for me so far.

Maybe you are sensitive to pg. If you said 40% vg....try a higher vg ratio, even a full vg juice.
It sounds to me like a reaction of sorts.

I haven't gone through all 10 bottles yet, I will keep track and figure out what VG % I like the most. Hopefully I find some commonality.

hi Utuxia,

While this may not be the issue, if you haven't already read this you might find it helpful FOR NEWBIES - Proper inhalation technique

Also I have noticed juices I have gotten from different vendors effected me like that if I didn't let the juice steep before trying them.

They've been steeped in the cupboard for about 2 weeks now, so I'll give them a try as I cycle through.

I have one vendor that I have a similar issue with no matter what flavor I try, but more often I see people on here who have a specific VG or PG reaction like mentioned (more often PG from what I have seen).

But if it doesn't turn out to be a PG or VG specific issue, trying a bottle of unflavored might be a good way to see if it's a flavoring related issue. I would try one from a company other than vapor God though on the slim chance it's something with the specific base they use that doesn't work well with you.

If it's not a VG/PG issue but a flavor issue, maybe try a couple companies that rely more on natural extracts than flavors like previously suggested. I would just try a couple smaller individual bottles though rather than investing in a 10 pack, until you isolate the issue. Maybe try 2 flavors from company A and 2 from company B.

Checking if it's PG or VG related though would be my first step, but hopefully a veteran can offer more experienced insight.

(Also if it doesn't turn out to be a VG or PG issue you might also shoot Vapor God an email and talk to them about it. They may be able to point out something the flavors you ordered have in common and help you identify the issue, which could help cut down your troubleshooting. Maybe another customer had a similar issue. Never hurts to ask. :) )

Thanks. I am trying different PG/VG levels with my samples. I have only gone through 4 of the 10 so hopefully I'll figure it out by the time I'm done with them. I am really thinking it's a flavoring issue, since I have tried 20% VG and 80%VG already, and only one of VaprGods flavors doesn't irrate me when I inhale. I will also give Vapor Dudes a shot, they seem to be really concerned with their ingredients. VaporGods was the first thing I found. I also did a 10-pack from johnsoncreeksmokejuice.com but I haven't opened any of those up yet. I'm going to give away the irritating flavors to my neighbor -- I get that "don't waste" mentality stuck in my brain and force myself to try and finish a bottle first, but if I end up smoking analogs instead, then it's all for nothing. I'm going to start tossing the bottles that don't agree with me and keep trying.

I had the same problem when I first started vaping, it was the guy I bought my first kit and bottle of juice from. It tasted great, but holy crap did it destroy my chest.

After I switched flavor vendors, I was alright.

I'd suggest trying stuff from other vendors, if you can rule out PG as the culprit. Check the pay it forward area, or if you have a local gathering see if you can get some juice from someone near by and see if that works better for you.

Like Dirgon said, PIF is a great section to pass on juices or other things that you aren't getting use of to other members who could really use them.

If you get verified as well, you have the option to post a trade listing in the classifieds where you could maybe trade some of the "not for you" flavors with other people who have flavors that just weren't for them. It's a great way to be able to try new juices and what might not work for you, may be someone else's favorite. There are also sale threads, where you could get back some cash on them to go towards others to try. You need to be verified first however before you can access the classifieds section. But there are definitely lots of options on here to make sure juice doesn't go to waste and finds a good home. :)

There can be many reasons.

When I quit tobacco cigarettes and turned to vaping, I went to my doctor a few weeks later. Not only was he ecstatic that I'd quit smoking, but he spent a solid 20 minutes with me explaining what I might experience in the next 5 to 10 months after having quit smoking. Included in this was increased lung congestion and nasal congestion which could last anywhere from a few weeks to several months. The cilia that line the passages in the throat and lungs are destroyed with smoking. They start to regenerate after quitting smoking and they start to push up a lot of junk away from the lungs - doc called it a congestion elevator. All that tar and ash and a bunch of other ugly accumulation is going to start being expelled as tissue starts to regenerate. He told me to use whatever over-the-counter congestion medication worked for me and didn't interfere with my current medications (your pharmacist is your friend - they know these things or can look up possible problems with mixing certain meds). My coughing and congestion has eased considerably in the last couple of weeks, it's been a little over 4 months since I quit smoking.

Also, you will become dehydrated more quickly while vaping. So, drink a lot of water. Reach for water before anything else. This will help as well.

Then there are the things many others are saying about PG/VG, certain flavors, etc.

Stick with it, eventually you'll find the perfect foothold and you'll never look back.

And, welcome to ECF!

Thanks. I'm still moving forward. I realize I just need to keep trying a variety of juices until I find a few I like. So far, I've only found one, but ordered a large bottle of it today. I still reach for analogs, but I'm starting to do so less. I think once I have 2-3 flavors at my disposal I will drop analogs completely.

I've been smoking about 10 analogs a day for 13 years.

I've had similar troubles in my journey so far.

I learned very early that 80-100% PG juices mess me up pretty badly. After trying some plain VG, I found that it was fine for me. Later, found that if I keep the PG less than 20% (PG-based flavorings,) it didn't really bother me.

I've also found that some flavorings are harsh to me. That includes most anything that's a custard, buttery, or creamy flavor, which are already questionable because of possible diacetyl, or it's largely untested alternatives. I'll live without them...

Lastly, I've found that flavorings that are alcohol-based give me a sore throat, and make me cough. I can stand about 1 drop per 5ml, but even that bothers me.

I'm guessing that the alcohol could be something you may want to look into, also.

I am guessing the vaporgod.com juices have these extra chemicals in their flavors. Only the cinnamon redhat doesn't bother me...all the others make me cease up. I'm going to try VaporDudes -- as they seem to pride themselves on all natural juices.

It could also be in part that your lungs are clearing out some built up crud.

There is some of that going on, but this is more acute. Definitely something w/ the juices, just trying to narrow it down.

How are you vaping? Do you inhale directly into your lungs or do you take it into your mouth first and then inhale?

If you're inhaling directly into your lungs that could be causing some of your issues.

I take a long drag and inhale it directly, and I also hold it in my mouth sometimes. Either way, as soon as it hits my lungs I cease up. I don't think it's the way I'm inhaling, because of the one flavor that I found where I dont' have a problem.
