Hi, new member from Toronto here. I tried vaping a few years ago using the Joyetech eGo-C but wasn't satisfied. I'm ready to try again and considering the iStick 30w, primarily for it's small stature, ease of use and solid reviews (from what I've read, the similarly sized 40w seems to have more quality and reliability issues)
I'm strictly a mouth to lung vaper for now. The tank I'm looking at pairing with the iStick is the Joyetech Cubis using the 1.5 ohm Clapton coils. I'm drawn to the Cubis mostly because of it's no-leak promise, easy filling and that reviewers say it's pretty good for mouth to lung hits.
Considering my needs- a quality build, good for mouth to lung vaping, compact size and a desire for very few to no leaks- would the iStick 30w and Cubis serve me well?
Can anyone recommend a better small sized vw/vv device at 30w or more? TC is not a feature I need
Thanks!

I can't really comment on the Cubis tank as I don't have one but, I will tell you that I think you will be very satisfied with the iStick 30W. I have several of the 30s and 40s and like them both a lot but, I do like the shape of the 30W best. Very sturdy, reliable mod.

Not a doubt in my mind that you will be much more satisfied using it than you were with the Ego set up you tried before.

Welcome to ECF and good luck to you.

Hi Kfox,

Welcome to ECF!

I don't know if you have a local vape shop where you are and if so, how much they charge for an istick 30w.

I'm on the West Coast of Oh Canada and had difficulty locating an istick 30w in any local shops. When I did find one they wanted $65!! (+ tax)

In case you're interested, Cool Vapes online (Calgary) has the full kit for $38 + $9.50 shipping. Check out coolvapes.ca

Cheers

Go check out www.dashvapes.com
They have a location in Toronto and a few others scattered around the GTA. You should be able to get anything you need there in store. Online they only have the tank though, so who knows. Luckily www.ecigmod.ca has istick 30's, but they're a little more expensive than Cool Vapes. But I've never ordered from coolvapes, and I order from ecigmod.ca all the time and they're head to toe legit.

I prefer the 40w (standard VW) to the 30w. I don't know how to compare the two for reliability but I do know the 20w was not good.

I MTL at 14 watts (average) and the Cubis tank is way off my radar. Time will tell about the 'leak free' claim. I would be impressed if it's true.
With the size of the drip tip and anything to do with 'clapton' coils, genuine MTL vaping looks like a bit of a leap in the dark. People claim you can MTL with all sorts of sub-ohm tanks but I've not found a good one yet. The closest is the Eleaf GS tank which i.m.o. is a lame sub-ohm tank but a great 10-15 watts vape using standard coils and 2/4 to 3/4 of the airflow holes.
Also, Joyetech spares (atomizer heads/coils) are often too expensive for what you get.

Maybe you can 'guinea pig' for the forum? :)

Funny how I work at a vape store and owner vapes low watts and almost every tank leaks for him. I got very same tanks and vape in the 40 watt range and my same tanks never leak a drop.

I am testing the Cubis tank since yesterday when it was given to me by our local store. Cubis is a good tank. Their is really no way for it to leak. Good air flow but wish it had a little more. Yes you can take lid off dropper bottles and just dump in the eliquid. .5 coil has max 30 watts printed on it and I have been running it at 44 watts and working just fine. To buy factory coils they are one of the cheaper coils .5 coil is easy to rebuild as well if that is ones thing. I have not used the 1 ohm SS or the 1.5 Clapton yet. I have not mouth to lung either as I am strictly a lung hitter.

I stick 30 should be ok. I would step up to a 50 watt in case you want to upgrade or get anther tank someday. For an example my Triton tank wont even run at 30 watts. Maybe a Coolfire 4 would serve your purpose better. I am a firm believer things are produced to run in the middle range. You do not jump in a car and floor the gas every time you drive. Or do you putt around at 10 miles an hour every time. Good luck to you. CHEERS!

^^^Agree with suprtrkr on the Nautilus. I've had one for about a month and quite like it for ease of use, cleaning and quality.

I am strictly MTL and will say for me, the draw on the Nautilus Mini is quite airy. I switched out the drip tip for a narrower bore and use the drip tip from a Protank 2. It's a tad wobbly but works.

Choices and preferences are very personal when it comes to vaping, so keep in mind what works for some may not work for others.

The Coolfire 4 is also a nice device and pairs well with the Nautilus Mini IMO.

Good luck!

Used to run with a istick 40w and nautilus mini. In fact it was the first setup which moved me off the analogs. Now using a Evic VTC mini with Cubis. Can't go wrong with a istick or nautilus mini. I would recommend going at least 30w if you pickup an istick.
I have been vaping the Cubis for almost 3 months now, and for me, it is exactly what I was looking for. It will not leak, it has coils for both MTL or direct lung inhales. Vaping is so subject yet I would recommend giving the Cubis a go especially if you want leak proof, coil/inhale options and ease of use.

Off the beaten path, KSD mini 40, fasttech.
Recommended to me by Alien Traveler last christmas. THANX Alien!!
Zinc body, Joules TC yet doesn't say Yihi. 25% smaller than the isticks-i have both. There is no comparison, blows the 'sticks' up.
Nothing really wrong with the 'sticks', but there are better choices. Much better..

Welcome and glad you joined.
I have the Istick 30 and 40. The 40 is a little larger physically and will give you longer vape time before battery needs a charge.
If you plan to sub ohm only, these batteries are not ideal. When using an Istick over 1.5 ohms is good and 2.0 will give you plenty of vape time.

As far as TC is concerned, unless you are getting it for a really good price I don't see the point. It's just an option.

Cubis is great. It does spit back a bit more than any other tank I've tried but id rather deal with that than leaking everyday. I live in a state with varying degrees of elevation so the constant up and down mountains messed with all my tanks except the Cubis. In fact I have 5 of them. Also I run on the eleaf 40w TC. I don't think you'll have an issue with the 30. Enjoy!

Thanks everyone for your comments and ideas. So, after some
more research and debating, I took a turn and decided to get the eVic VTC Mini with a Cubis tank. In terms of size, Joyetech is very close to the iStick 30 (22x38x82mm vs 23x32x77 and 120g vs 95g). Everything else seems superior. Yes, it's features are more than I need but who knows, maybe I'll grow into it sooner than I expect. Ordered the GREY version with matching Cubis tank- gorgeous IMO.

Right on! The best vape choice is what works best for you
Ps: make sure to prime the Cubis coils really well.
