Ok after complaining about how ridiculous vape tax is in my state, again its 50%, it is time for me to really look into diy.

I tried looking for a thread i was given some info but cant find that thread anymore. So my apologies for asking again. Since i havent mixed my own juices before i just want something simple to start. So here are my questions, thank you forum for your help!

  • what are the bare minimum ingredients i need to buy for 0 nic methol juice? Pg, vg and menthol?
  • Is there a one stop online shop where i can get all that?
  • Link to step by step instructions?

BCF has what you need in stock. Can't help you with what brand menthol since I don't use it; just read some reviews.
Bull City Flavors - Largest Selection & Best Prices on Flavoring

Before we can help more you will need to tell us your pg/vg ratio and what atty style you use. If you only vape menthol once you find a flavor concentrate that works for you it will be easy mixing up large batches just using marks on the bottle made during the first mix.

Thank you Letitia.

I havent really paid attention to pgvg ratio for a long time since ive been buying prefilled pods and ready made juice. I do remember i used to order 70/30 or 60/40. I think either will work for me.

looks like even pg has different kinds? Do i just pick any? Lol sorry im such a newbie.

You'll need to use an eliquid calculator, I use ELR Recipes but there are many to choose from. If your adv is just menthol just download a simple app one on your phone. If you are only mixing the one juice it would probably be cheaper to just use a couple syringes. If you have a weight scale that measures down to 0.01 grams then you won't need any syringes.

Thank you @Letitia

I need syringes and scale too... dang.

Silly question, what are the supplies i need for making juices. I live in a small place and have to be a minimalist
No just one or the other. I mix by weight so use a scale; only need one syringe for nic. You can get supplies at BCF as well. As far as what supplies we need more info on what way you want to mix; weight=scale or volume=syringes. If you are mixing by volume you can get a cylinder to measure/mix pg/vg in and 1-3 syringes for flavors.
BCF doesn't carry these but easy enough to find cheap.

As well as any other flavours you'll be using, you will need:
  • PG (any brand, but USP grade)
  • VG (any brand, but USP grade)
  • Nicotine base (usually 100 mg/ml, but that can vary - you use it to add the nic to your mix. Also, it comes in PG or VG and often 50/50 PG/VG, and sometimes other ratios as well. Any will do, but note that pure VG is viscous and hard to pour.)
  • Menthol
  • Whichever flavours you need (if you're doing anything with more than one flavour, I'd recommend you start with a recipe instead of trying to work it out yourself)
  • Bottles for your creation
Then there's equipment for mixing. This will depend on whether you want to mix by volume or weight.

EITHER:
By weight
  • A kitchen scale accurate to 0.1 or 0.01 grams
OR
By volume
  • A graduated cylinder or two for larger volumes (PG and VG, and a 100 ml cylinder would be a good place to start. Cylinders can be glass or plastic, and either is fine.)
  • A syringe or two for small volumes (3 or 5 ml is usually good, but if you're mixing tiny test batches a 0.5 or 1 ml might also be indicated) NOTE: Try to find an oral syringe rather than one with a needle. They should be available in most places you get mixing supplies, but if you can't find them there a pharmacy or a veterinary or agricultural supply store should have one. If you do have to get one with a needle, find the lowest gauge (i.e. fattest) needle you can.

And you're ready to go!

Thank you @Hawise your post really helps. And thanks @Letitia for the video.

So do you do volume or weight? Not sure if this is what the guy says when he pushes the button on the scale but what is “tear off”. Why does he still need those tubes when he uses the scale. Again sorry if silly questions but this is all new.

like i said i really dont have space for a lot of supplies and equipment so looks like by weight is the way to go?

It's called tare It sets the scale back to 0 so you can add the next ingredient.

I have not watched thevideo so I am guessing he measured PG and Vg in them. Since PG and Vg take up most of the volume of the mix it's probably just easier to pour amt needed than weighing them. They have different weights assigned to them than flavors do.

If you are just wanting a menthol mixture without nicotine only and don't plan on ever mixing recipes that consists of many flavorings then syringes and cylinders are the least expensive and take up much less room than a scale would.

What sized bottles do you have to hold finished ejuice in ?

That makes sense, thank you @Sugar_and_Spice! I dont have any bottles yet, i guess i will get some when i finally decide yo try, what size do people usually get
Do you have any empties from the ejuice you bought from vendors? You could use them.
A very popular size most people use is 1 oz(30 mil) but you can make as large of a bottle as you want. There is 2 oz sizes all the way up to 1 liter sizes.
Since we mix in mil(for syringes) and grams for scales we usually refer to the volume of liquid in mil and the ingredients in percents. The ratio of mil to gram is 1:1 so there isn't any difference in volume or weight per se its just easier to follow when a person talks about recipes and how they mix.
