I think that is a very good choice of setup. Many people have different options for their liking of setup and would beg to differ but yours is not bad
I'm already looking into RDA's. Dripping on this basic Atty isn't bad. But I was thinking a decent RDA might pack more punch. I guarantee you I can wind a coil. I spent a couple days watching ppl do it online and that looks easy. The question is what size wire and wick. Which rda to start with? I was looking at an aqua clone. And the IGO's. I think I want a smaller one and a larger one.
The gear I have will do 3.3-5v / 6-11w. I think it will carry 3.5amps before it kicks out.
As for slowing down, not likely. This is barely a small dent in my monthly gun habit. But... We were spending over $300 /mo on cigarettes anyway. So as of January. I'm still washing out. Big deal. I'm not smoking, the money was never the point anyway. Not smoking was.
I don't need $200 mods and $180 atomizers. The box mods just don't do it for me size wise. And I'm not sure about the mechanical mods yet. The 18500 seemed like a good size. But this spinner works just fine with my protank @ 4.8v. It's a 2.8ohm coil and it hits about as well as the itaste vv @ 8-9 watts.
I think with a basic carto and the right juice it will be fine for me at work. I clock 30-50 puffs throughout the day on the itaste. Battery life isn't a big deal. I pack on another 100-150 at home. But charging isn't, and hasn't been an issue at all. I think the I taste vv would last me 2-3 days.
So. Cartos for the vision, and rda's?
Voltages I can run;
3.3-5
Watts
6-11
3.5amp max load.
Recommendations welcome.
Also side bar:
Kanger T3's... Not awesome so far. Leaky, can taste plastic side effect in the flavor when I use them. Don't wick well even with high pg juices... eat juice pretty quick. I'll just buy pro tanks. She hates them so far too. Better clearos? I have a pack or so of kanger coils already. Are the t3S's better?
Noticing all of these don't wick great. MPT2 / PT3 / T3. Nothing I have is over 50/50. The protanks are great for flavor. But she vapes a lot and it gets dry-ish for her a lot.
Can those be rebuilt with cotton to wick better?
Hi all!
Looking for some input and general commentary if possible.
The short;
Got the flu right before Christmas, felt some chest symptoms and heard bronchitis was also going around and just quit smoking entirely. Figured I'd be miserable anyway, try and beat the chest portion by going cold turkey on smoking. It worked. 20 years, PAD. To zero. Lots of nyquil and literally spent 3 days semi conscious with the flu thru Christmas. Kicked the nicotine via nyquil and flu self induced coma. Have not smoked since. Miss smoking and all the typical triggers are still tough.
Dug up a mistic e-cig that the woman had tried to quit smoking maybe a year or so ago to help stay busy. Its utterly useless. Started reading trying to figure out what might work. Learned that there is a whole world out there. (E-cigs, PV's, etc).
Found a local place that just opened. Bought something more substantial.
Equipment list:
Innokin - iTaste vv 3.0
KangerTech - mini protank-II
5 pack of KT 2.5 ohm coils
2 plastic 2.4ml clear atomizer tanks ($5-6)
House menthol blend 18mg (30ml)
(It's like a slightly more peppermint Newport I'd say)
It works well and was an acceptable size. (Barely)
How did I do?
*For me I went from pretty serious desperation that this could not work to confidence I would never smoke a cigarette again in the time it took to pick things out and get going. (An hour) So I'm hopeful, and fairly excited about this all now.
The rambling; (long)
For me the 'hit' was the issue. I smoke in maybe a minute or two between doing things all day. I frequently have to pinch off a half inch or more ember from the cigarette I'm smoking just to make it possible to hit it again. I don't puff, I don't enjoy. I just crush them and get back to work. (No real CIG breaks) I was smoking Marlboro lights after doing menthols for 16-17 years. Couldn't handle the menthol any more. Every morning was basically cold symptoms until I got a shower. Switching to something I didn't like was intentional, and it sort of worked. I never finished a pack the day I bought them any more. I'd flick more than a smoldering filter.
Moving to the e-cig was confusing. I couldn't hit it, feel it, or knock down the nerves with it and it was almost infuriating. I didn't realize it just can't deliver what I was expecting. A tidal wave. After 4 big drags on a cigarette I've built up a lot of nicotine and the little mistic was like an iv drip.
Calming down and realizing it's never going to work, it's time to retrain the brain. I can get a pretty felt hit from the itaste, and go back to something I like, and still not smoke. And I'm now way happier. If I'm stressed out I can take a big hit of something I can feel for the mental portion of it, then a few easy drags to get the nicotine rolling and hold off any desire to smoke or be agitated etc.
Previous to the new equipment I bought some vapor-x blueberry liquid and stripped the mistic cartomizer apart, cleaned it, and refilled it. It didn't work very well which prompted me to come here and read, and search endlessly online. It got a bit overwhelming, and I couldn't deal with the mistic any more so I found a store and went. Normally I research but they let me try anything I wanted in the place. They fired up a few vaporizers and any liquid I wanted so I was confident it would work for me before I swiped my card and left. (About $90 total) which was chump change compared to what I spend a month smoking. Plus what she spends. ($300/mo easy?).
More rambling;
I'm a bit of a modder in life. I root and flash phones, built / tuned cars (professionally for a while) and tinker with firearms. So I sprung for something that was 510 variable voltage and wattage. They had some of the big mods I've seen online, and toys, but I need something more portable, and I have NO freaking clue what any of that does yet. I managed to find and ohm vs voltage chart in the protank box and just set according to it. But I figured I'd have some options by going towards the middle and common thread. Room to grow so to speak.
I need to try more liquids. I think that might be a fun part of this too.
The melon one I tried was good but they only had 30ml bottles. That's not trying something, that's buying it a ring and giving it a key...
Also dragon fruit. Liked that.
Spearmint was ok.
The blueberry vapor x stuff is harsh. It's OK.
The Newport / peppermint (mass they call it) is punchy. I got it because it's a little rough and should give me a home base to go to, to shut down any desire for a cigarette.
A older woman (customer) in the shop shared some advice too. She said do not smoke. Don't ruin it for yourself. You quit, it's over. If you cheat, it will ruin the vaporizer for you. If you really want to not smoke, enjoy this, have fun with it. And every day you feel better, remember it's because you don't smoke!
And I do feel better even in just a week or so.
I'm trying to learn as much as I can now. Initially the mods and pv's that kind of look like a crack pipe put me off. But I'm dealing with the size vs performance thing a little better now. If a mistic (or similar) hit like this itaste I'd be a happy guy. But idk if that's even possible?
So hello! Any input, good or bad is welcome.
Thread start with "newbie" setup to cotton recoiling for better wicking.
I will wait a few weeks (or less) for your new post flashing a mech mod and proclaiming dripping is only way to go. j/k.
PT atty can be recoiled pretty easily, but I don't like to use cotton for those. Cotton definitely wicks better but you need to replace it much more often than silica. This is no brainer for RDA but clearo atomizer is a pain. If you want to get more juice into the coil, try pulling the flavor wick out. This opens up the hole for more juice but also increase the chance of leaking.
I agree Zero -- He will be winding 28 gauge micros soon and fogging the room up with some clone RDA like I did when I got my first Nimbus off of eBay..lmaoThread start with "newbie" setup to cotton recoiling for better wicking.

Hey we all gotta be a newbie. How long we stay one depends on what you're willing to put into something. I enjoy learning things. I want to know what I need to know to get going. Then, exactly how everything works so I can start with things that enhance performance.
Admittedly I've spent a LOT of time browsing toys, and then watching the tutorial video about it. Then I grab the next, then the next... And each time I pick up a little more. It starts to fill in the picture. I have no idea what's good. But I now understand the voltage/wattage and how it coorelates to heat at the coil, and how that pertains to resistance... And that effects what ohm atomizers I want to use given my equipment.
I'm glad I didn't start with non vv gear. I'd already be smoking again. With as cheap as something like a twist, or itaste is... I don't see why you'd want something that wasn't. There's a huge difference in how some juices react at different voltages. It's not subtle in some cases. Plus the ability to slap different heads on and not even think about voltage is great for someone new. (And still get good results) So VW may seem like a non newbie thing, but it is perfect for newbies. Some people just aren't going to do the math. Or have an ohms checker. A PV that does all of it for you... Makes being a beginner pretty darn easy.
As for the mech mods. OK. At some point. Mainly to play with flavors, since I seem to not be able to really taste most.
And because most of those cray cray RDA's are big and would look stupid on the itaste. If be afraid it would constantly fall over.

There is easy way and hard way to vape. There are many of us who are just like you and "have" to take the hard way. Absolute need to find the stuff out for ourselves. When someone new comes to vaping scene, we try to steer towards the easy way. So that we will have one more person successfully converted to vaping from smoking.
This vaping thing goes much deeper than one imagine initially and there isn't any absolution right way to do it. As you continue the journey, your preference will change. We are just trying to give you recommendations based on our experience. I initially hated the idea of mech mod and any type of rebuildable. I was new and only mech mods I saw were big and clunky looking. Soon, I found out that mech mods are one of most beautiful looking PV and different league on its own. Anyway, good luck with your journey and enjoy.

Idk if we can get GPs here in the US Zero, but that is one nice looking mod!
Most of the high end stuff we get seems to come out of Greece .. lol
Well, the King is the exception..One nice exception though .. lol
My advice stands..cop a clone mechanical like the Nemesis or King, don't be afraid of them..they are not going to blow your face off..lmao
You can turn them into VV/VW also with a simple device known as a KICK2 also..You can find videos on mechanical mods w/kicks on Youtube..Good luck and happy vaping! Oh yeah, best RDA by far imo is the Nimbus..Allows you to dual or quad coil,(if you want to fog a room) LOL And you can find those on eBay as well.
Not afraid. Just didn't understand why anyone would want a mod that didn't regulate voltage? When the mechanical mods come off the charger, what do they put out? Then that tapers off with use. Down to?
Then the size, weight. Huge turn off. Then the cost. It seemed like there's a premium on an ornate tube of metal. I understand machining costs. But would only be interested in the performance if thats a factor. I understand being able to hit a hand crafted coil assembly with more voltage. Makes sense. I understand adjustable airflow in an RDA in concept. The theory anyway. But could absolutely care less about a highly polished bit of steel or aluminum with someone's logo on it.
If I need to go mech to get the power to run an RDA properly. Fine.
What about the SVD then? It beats buying a kick. Or running one unregulated?
I'd there any RDA worth trying on the I taste vv? (3.0)
I don't use a kick. 18650's are rated at 3.7 volts. Full charged they are 4.1-4.2 volts. I do micro-coils. I have a dual now that is .57 ohms. A full charged battery (4.1 volts) = 7.2 amps. The C rating is 10 Amps. Don't want to exceed that. I have Efest atm. Sony has a 18659 that is a 30 Amp C rating though.I vape all day on the Efests.
The clones are around $45 as I said. It's up to you though if you want to experiment.
Ok. So you're winding coils at super low resistance to take advantage of the higher amp ceiling? Which in turn lets you push more watts into the coil? And the amp limit is determined by the battery? (Just making sure I understand)
Maybe I'll start with a smaller mech mod that can telescope? Run an 18350 until I get over the "it's obnoxious" sized, issue I have right now. And leave some room to grow.
Then I can later add a kick or bigger batteries. And the cool RDA's won't look silly on it.
Is trying to run an RDA pointless on the itaste vv 3.0? Is the 3.5 amp limit the problem? Is there a small one I can get my feet wet with? I looked at igo's. I've watched dozens of videos on RDA's. From kfuns to atomics. And... I found that fast tech site that uh... Yeah. Not sure about that yet. It's a lot to absorb when I don't have an RDA to try things on in my hands.
I want to dabble a little.
What is an RDA that I can use on the itaste, that won't inherently suck if I use it on a mech mod later?
Anything not super leaky would be great.
I'm kinda in the same boat as you. I have a MVP 2.0 and some ego twists and I really wanna try out some RDA, but I'm not sure what will all work. Makes me sad cause I'm not exactly sure I want to buy a mech just yet.
But welcome to the amazing world of vaping!
