Newbie Intro and Help

I have been trying to quit regular cigs for a while now have tried a few different batteries and tanks but whenever I smoked an ecig my throat would hurt and I was always coughing causing me to turn back to regular cigs. Last week I ordered a new tank (KangerTech eGo 3ml Metal Bottom Coil Clearomizer) and a new juice with PG 25/VG 75 and I am loving it...I have read elsewhere about people having a sensitivity to PG and I think that I do so the higher VG does not hurt my throat.

Saras - I have the same feeling in that my vapes cause my throat and sometimes lungs to hurt. I've been using watermelon, strawberry and apple if that makes a difference. Been using the Maya ejuice at 6mg nicotine but I can't find the PG/VG mix anywhere on these. Would you happen to know or be able to point me in the direction time find where it is?

Thanks for the links Jake! I'll look into them.

I was able to find out the Maya has a 80/20 blend. I went ahead and went to the local B&M and got a 900mah ego c twist that's charging right now and a FBJ caramel apple juice at a 50/50 blend. Hopefully this blend will help ease my throat. Something I want to check with you all on and something I hadn't had an issue with before is that this juice seems to gurggle on every hit. I'm still using my old battery while the ego c charges if that makes a difference with the 2.5 ohm coil. Can anyone help me with why it's doing this and if I need to replace coils?

Thanks in advance!

I think you said you were using the mt3s, right? You may have gotten a little juice inside the center post when you filled. Take it off the battery, and look into the top of the battery, where it screws on. If that looks like it has juice in it at all, wipe it clean with a Q-tip (this is maintenance you are going to need to do from time to time anyway, so it doesn't get gunky). Next, put the clean side of the Q-tip into the mouthpiece of the tank, turn it upside down. Wipe it out as far as you can. Take a tissue and hold it under the post on your tank (which is now right-side up), and blow gently through the mouthpiece. Wipe any drops that come from the bottom off, and try using it again. Hope that helps!

Oh, and sometimes the t3s and mt3 just gurgle a bit when the juice gets low in them.

Once again, thanks Lisa! While I was waiting for a response, I did exactly what you said and managed to get it sorted. I am getting a smoother taste now with the voltage set to the 3.6V setting with great flavor...even at a 50/50 blend. I'm hoping this helps my sore throat as well.

Something I would like to do is get a setup that's a little more travel friendly. With the longer 900mah battery and the already long MT3S clearo, it's a bit much for it to fit in my pocket comfortably. I wouldn't mind something shorter and stubby to help with this if you have any suggestions. I'm also open to tanks that are short and stubby that would fit on the ego as well. Would the iclear 30B be a good option for that?

It might be, but I doubt it's a whole lot shorter than your current. Maybe. YMMV, but what I love for out and about is a shorter Spinner, like a 400 or 650, and a mini T3S. One of the upsides to getting mini T3S's, is that they will use the exact same coil replacements. Also, I really like that they are clear. I always vaped down to the bottom and got a burned hit with the Evod or MT3. The downside is that it won't hold as much liquid.

Tyler - That's what I'm feeling too. At first I just wanted something simple to just get the vape job done, but the more I read about it and the more I learn, I'm getting the feeling that may be a more expensive hobby than collecting custom putters from boutique builders. I also need to get some spare coils and tanks to help me transition between flavors and not make it such a process in cleaning the clearo after every flavor change. I just don't want to go investing in components just yet if I may change the tank.

Lisa - That's exactly the reason I went with the standard MT3S...I wanted to higher capacity because I don't want to have to worry about constantly filling it. I may give the iclear 30B a go and see how it is compared to MT3S. Any other suggestions for a stubby, shorter tank would be appreciated.

The Kanger Protanks are really good, too. I have an original Protank and it's a great vape, super sturdy, and since it's pyrex glass, you don't have to worry about putting any of the "tank cracker" liquids in it. Personally, I don't use it much because 1) it's a lot bigger than I like, and 2) I don't like the taste of the metal tip. My husband has a couple and he loves them though. Also, I understand that Protank II and III have a choice of tips. They use a very similar, but slightly different coil than the T3 series.

Well, I held an original Protank up to a full sized T3, and it's definitely a bit shorter, although not as much shorter as it first appears since it has the 510 threading as opposed to the eGo skirt threading. I would say it's 1/2 to 3/4 in. shorter, when on the battery. This site has the length listed of most of the tanks you are looking at: Tanks - DiscountVapers.com . DV is generally a well-respected vendor around here, and I've found him (Eric Gormly, the owner) to be really, super honest in his descriptions of the products. Also, they currently have one of the best prices around for replacement coils for the T3S/MT3S and Protanks.

It's strange because on the Kanger site, the MT3S is listed at 60mm vs 68mm for the PT2. On another site, the MT3S was listed at 80mm. I'm assuming the latter is correct. The Davide is supposed to be the same size as the PT with the iclear being almost the same size as the MT3S.

I'll need to look at what the difference is between the PT2 and Davide BDC that Tyler recommended.
