Newbie, just need some help for me and my dad

Hello all!

I'm currently 20 and I've been smoking heavily for the better part of 2 and a half years (pack a day, sometimes two packs if I'm chugging coffee all day and night getting work done). My friend introduced me to those ten dollar, one time use e-cigs you can buy at gas stations. I won't lie they weren't that bad but I never really caught onto them. However, recently my father has been having chest/lung problems and is trying to get me to quit. I guess part of him feels bad because there were few choice nights where me and him would share cigarettes and shoot the .....

Anyways, he gave me two "Ono" bodies, I'd say they are the medium/normal length pen e-cigs, and a few packs of red 18mg "The Safe Cig." I don't know how these thread together, as I think they are different brands but somehow still fit.

The only problem is, after using the bodies for some time, they make a hissing noise for a while even after I have taken a hit, and sometimes there is a constant stream that comes out the mouthpiece/cartridge after i have taken a hit. That, plus random brown gunk that forms on the inner rim of the hole of the mouthpieces when the cartridges are almost finished has lead me to want to find a new brand.

I haven't even found reviews for Ono bodies on the internet so I don't know if these occurrences are poor quality from a bad brand, or if these things happen to all e-cigs. Can someone inform me a little, if the bodies are known to be fool proof I probably wont shift brands, but I will be more than willing if my dad and I are vaping up some pieces of ......

My friends have already recommended V2, greensmoke and volt. I just don't want to shell the cash out if I dont have to.

Sorry for the terribly long post. Thanks all!

This may sound ignorant, but I do prefer the shape of the pen sized ones. It alleviates my smoking habit, plus whenever my friend uses his gigantic one people always thinks hes using a portable ganja vape.

I mean, all I really want to know I guess is if Ono is a safe brand. Their site doesnt work and there are no reviews for it. I don't really need "the best" e-cig. I just need a safe one for me and my father, because I don't want him to do anymore damage to his lungs. :(

I would say to pick up a nice 510 kit. Small size and you can buy a portable charging case for it. Then buy some cartomizers, pre-filled or buy some juice and empty ones and fill yourself. 510 connection is the most common type so you can find things for them quite easily.

If what you have now is working though, just replace the cartridges or whatever it uses and roll with it. The most safety related issue tends to deal with the battery, and as long as you observe when they are charging and don't damage them, they should be fine.

I dont think you are going to find any information about them. Their website doesnt even work and the name was only trademarked in december of 2011 and it hasnt even been finalized yet.

I know it is hard to lay out some money, but in the long run, its cheaper. Think about how much you are spending on cigarettes right now. I was spending $6-$7 a pack and using about 10 packs a week. You can get a really good starter kit from a company like smokeless image for that with enough juice to take you at least 3 weeks depending on how much you use.

Check out the Volt from smokeless image. You can get the standard starter kit for $45 or the pro starter kit for $65. A 30ml bottle of juice is $14 and that will refill your cartos 30 times. That is before coupons. There are always at least 15% off coupons available for them and during holidays, they publish higher ones. THey will have a sale for July 4th and if is similar to the past, it will be at least 20%. But even with the 15% coupons, you can get a nice setup to start with. For $50 you can get 2 batteries (get the 78mm for the extra $1) a charger, a pack of cartos and a bottle of juice. Thats enough to get you through 2 weeks at the minimum. Then, if you go to their forum on here and post a picture of yourself with the volt, they will give you another free battery, bottle of juice or pack of cartos. If you choose the bottle of juice, you are set for at least another 2 weeks. There are several companies which will send you a free bottle of juice including shipping. One being vapedudes. They will give you a free 10ml bottle with their facebook coupon. That would set you for another week.

So, for $50, you could be set for at least your first 4-5 weeks of vaping.

I went through the same delema as you only I made the mistake of buying the awful Blu e-cig first. Spent $140 on my setup and then it was horrible. I had to find a new company that actually worked but had no money left since I spent it all on the Blu.

Here is a video that will help you make a decision and know what to look for in your search.

I've been happy with 510 sized stuff, because you can mix and match from different vendors and end up spending less money. The best prices I've found have been at surevapes.com since they have free shipping (and 10% off coupon 'isurevape'). They don't sell any liquid though so you'd have to get that elsewhere.

You could also try Goodprophets, they sell everything, including a 510 kit for $10. I didn't care for their house brand of liquid though

Wow, 15 minutes of browsing this site and your guys' responses has already shown so much to me. I didn't know southbeach and v2 were such scams.

I think I'll go with buying two volt pro kits, some sampler packs and some refill juice and a cartridge holder. I didn't even know those damn cartridges were refillable, I've probably thrown out close to 20 of them :(.

You guys are so awesome, and I just want to say thanks again. I'm going to look so sexy with a black battery and a purple light ;D

Try Smokeless Image or Bloog. They resemble a 100 cig and they are great quality and good prices. Both have 4th of July sales going right now. The vapor coming out at your connection is because the cartomizers do not fit your ecig correctly. Hang on and I will link you to where you can find the best deals and prices going with the holiday sales right now.

My mom has a Bloog because she needs the look and feel of a cig and I know first hand that they are good quality. Stay away from Greensmoke and the high dollar mall kits. You can get better quality at a better price for sure.

i started with an eGo kit a little over 2 months ago. it has worked well so far, but browsing this forum makes me want to spend tons of money on other mods now :)

LOL, that is one of the dangers of being here! Just think of what you are saving on cigs and most important your health. Most if not all do quickly need to move up to a more powerful PV that will give a better hit and hold a charge longer.

so true! after i read your post i actually tried to do a little estimate... so far i'm 67 days clean off the analogs :) so i figure $9/pack * 67 = $603 dollars... holy crap! i've probably only spent about $150-200 on my ego and juice and carts and whatnot, so i'm at least $400 in the green..

just more motivation to keep doing what i'm doing! in a year or so i'll probably have saved enough to take the fam on a nice little vacation :)

Maybe you will but many of us don't lol This does become like a hobby quickly :) If you are lucky enough to find juice flavors that you like quickly, that will help a lot. When I started vaping, I had to have every flavor out there. Then I needed to find the perfect carto. Thank goodness I never got the Mod fever like some do lol I did move to a VV PV after about three months and was quite content with that. With VV, you can easily get the right voltage for each juice and carto. It really makes a big difference and now prices have come way down from 2 years ago.

VV= Variable Voltage

Either way you will notice the difference in your health guaranteed.

I don't want to hijack this thread or anything :) but, what are some of your favorite flavors? i've really only had a couple from tasty vapor (my friend recommended them to me) and have been really satisfied so far.

maybe some good juice recommendations can help noobs like me :)

Here is Bloog http://bloogplanet.com/

Here is what we started with that worked well, looks like cig and they have a great sale going http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/pay-forward-pif/85781-deals-steals-826.html#post6509884

The above thread has a lot of good sales going and may help you to find a good deal that will work for you. Good luck!

PS- Vapor 4 Life has a great selection of good tasting prefilled cartomizers that are great for beginners too :)

Go with smokeless image. It is the same battery as bloog but cheaper and has best customer service.

I won't NOT suggest vapor 4 life cartos. They burn very easily. Because they are vertical coil, it burns quickly. Check out my video to learn why. If you want lots of Flavors, get blank cartos or a Phoenix then order juice from anywhere. It takes 30 seconds to fill a carto and will only cost you between 20-30cents. You can get a free bottle of juice from vapedudes with their Facebook code

This video explains the difference between the cartos and why si has the best ones. I'm not sure if bloog uses the same cartos, but the have the same batteries. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zj7zm5NXvao

Smokeless somehow feels weird as you see we all have been on analog before and without smoke it just feels not right
