Hello all,

Ive been looking to get into vaping to kick my smoking habit. I smoke near a pack a day of Marlboro Reds and have been for over 8 years. I have ordered the "Ultimate" kit from V2, but after doing so read some horror stories regarding their shipping and quality. Found these forums and was hoping some of the more experienced folks could give some advice.

From what I have gathered the V2 e-cig is really an overpriced KR808D-1 model that can be bought cheaper elsewhere. Further research suggested that V2 products are just very expensive in general. I hope somebody here can recommend a few reputable online stores to purchase from.

I have also noticed that the liquids V2 sells have 18mg of nicotine. I assumed this was high but after some searching I found some "juices" with as much as 32mg of nicotine in them. Does 18mg seem like it is enough given my smoking habits (generally a pack a day)? If not, would something with 32mg do the trick (found a load of them on totally wicked liquids or something like that)?

In short, I am kind of lost, there are a ton of different vendors, models and liquids I'm not really sure where is the best place to start. I really want to kick this habit and any advice would be appreciated.

I started at 18 mg nicotine and I smoke a pack a day. You just have to experiment and figure out what works for you.
24 mg seems to be the most common number people start at.

What does "V2" stand for?

Liberty Flights and Litcigusa seem to have the best prices on starter kits. Vapor4life is a bit higher but you get alot of stuff.
I've had good service from Vapor4life and litecig usa. Liberty flights is well thought of here but I've never bought anything there.

Welcome to ECF boottoss!! If you are smoking about a PAD, 18-24mg is probably the range you want to be looking into. It's nice to have a little higher nicotine levels around just in case you have certain "high craving" moments. 36mg is considered fairly high.

You're right, the V2 is overpriced. But, don't dispair...there are a lot of great starter kits out there for a reasonable price. One of the most recommended is the Riva 510 from Liberty Flights for $30. They have a good battery life(750mah) and they have a good reputation.

If you are more interested in sticking with a kr808d-1 (similar to size/shape of cig), these can be found at several good suppliers also. A couple that come to mind are LiteCigUSA.net and Vapor4Life.com. You won't get as much battery life from the kr808d-1, though. Usually around 280mah. That's only a few hours of solid vaping time.

I would recommend sticking with manual batteries. Automatic batteries can be quite a problem when you start trying to refill carts or want to get into dripping.

Hi and welcome to ECF. If you're smoking a pack a day you'll probably find a small battery unit like the KR808 a bit frustrating in terms of battery life. I know I did and many others did too. The V2 Ultimate starter kit is kind of expensive, but you do get lots of stuff in it. You could probably save yourself around $50 by ordering the same stuff elsewhere, assuming you want to stick with it. It doesn't say anywhere on the website that it's a KR8 though. But I'd really suggest you consider something with a bigger battery.

I started out using juice that was 18mg. It wasn't enough for me and I smoked 1/2 a pack a day. I still had cravings to smoke. I went up to 24mg and got off the smokes completely. I haven't had one in around 10 months. My suggestion would be to buy at least a few bottles of juice in a couple of different strengths and flavors. That will give you a better shot at finding both the strength you need, and a flavor you like.

If you are smoking a pack day I would suggest an 18 t0 24mg range of nicotine and there are a lot of good vendors who are selling juices at great prices with a great range of flavors. I use Gourmet Vapors, Freedomsmokeusa, Awesomevapors, Vaperite, and Backwoodsbrew These guys will do you right and they all have great customer service and fast shipping. .As for a PV I would look into getting an ego. They are very veristale and with the 650amp batteries you can vape for around six hours without having to change batteries (which I do recommend if you get this be sure to get extra batteries and attys) Later on you can pick up the tank atties.

Wow you guys are fast! Great info thank you.

By V2 i meant V2cigs, I found them on many of the so-called review sites. I figured forums with real users would be a much better place to get a good start.

I could care less if the e-cig looks like an actual cigarette, however the battery life issue is a concern. I assumed the model they use is the kr808d-1 because the blank cartridges they offer are compatible.

I just placed this order, so I am going to cancel it and take a bit more time with the research. Ill look into the Riva 510, are the riva 910 or Joye models any good?

Again, thank you for such a speedy response. This info will be a great help.

The Riva 901 are simply a different threading than 510s. They are similar to the kr808d-1. A lot of it is personal preference as to which is better, but you can find a lot more variety in the 510 hardware. Joye (eGo) is a good product. The Riva is a generic version of the eGo. If you are more interested in the eGo, here's the best price I've been able to find w/ free shipping Joye eGo 510 Kit. ($40).

I smoked a little over half a pack a day of marlboro ultra lights and I have to vape 24mg, anything lower and I start thinking about how it really wouldn't hurt to just buy one pack of marlboros. The only problem with 24mg is I vape heavy in the morning and sometimes it gives me a headache, I'm going to mix up some 18mg and see if I can use that in the morning.

My 2 cents: I just picked up vaping 10 days ago, I tried it about a year ago and wasn't for me, Now i'm analog free for 10 days. I did do a lot of research before trying it out again. I ended up pre-ordering a Greatlakesvapor GLV2 5volts because that is where the sweetspot is apparently. While waiting for the GLV2, i ordered a joye 510 kit from Vaporheads.net (price is awesome for what it comes with). I also got a Passthrough for it.

Results: The joye kept me analog free for a few day while waiting on the GLV2. It worked good on battery but even better on the passthrough. I tried carts, atty's with cartridges but they seemed too much of a pain. So i started dripping and OMG i'll never go back to a cart.

Now that i have the GLV2 i'm practically in heaven and vape all day long. It's a worse addiction then I had with analogs but in the end i would think its a healthier choice.

Moral of the story. You'll need to spend a lot of money in the beginning to find what you like. I spent about $500 so far in e-cig, mods accessories. But it's well worth it IMO! Now that I found my combo it's just about the juice.

Ended up going with a joy eGo and various atomizers and juices. I went through liberty-flights and vapor4life. Looking to try backwoodsbrew sometime soon as well if I like "vaping".

Thank you all very much.

A little worried by this statement as the cartomizers from vapor4life will not fit on the eGo unless you buy a "510 to 901" adapter:
Mods - E-Cig Multi Adapters

because the eGo is threaded for 510 attachments and the vapor4life (and all Kr808d-1) is not.

Like these guys I would suggest 18-24mg. Also keep in mind there are PCC's (personal charging cases)available with a lot of the cigarette style ecigs as an option.

As far as 510,901,808.510's typically come in three peaces(batt, atomizer[reqires a short break in time],cart) 901's are going to require a little bit more digging to find as many options for atomizer/cartomizer upgrading( for more flavor and vapor when your ready) and 808's are two piece(batt, cartomizer[atomizer and cart in one]) the 510 parts are the most plentiful then 808 then901(but 808 and 901 are compatible ....sometimes).

Most of the suppliers on this forum ship in 24hr and gets to you in 1-3 days.

It may seem like a lot options/info the important thing is to just get into it. Its not like butts you will have more than one brand you like in the end and I promise you like us will find a positive improvement to your life that will leave you with only one regret....not switching sooner!!

Good luck. Let us know how you made out.

I actually got the eg0-t and ego-t atomizers along with some 30ml juice bottles from LF. V4L I used for some different flavored juices that were not in stock at LF. I get the feeling i am going to be trying out multiple PVs to find the right one but this seemed like a decent starting point.

edit: Also grabbed some "tanks" of course.

right on... hey when you got the 'tanks', you got the tank atomizers and tank carts, right? (must have both or it won't work hehehe)

Found out Liberty Flights is located here in San Diego. So I went and picked up the order instead (yay). Its only been 24 hours but so far its been great! No cigarettes yet (analogs is what I think you all call them), though i do have a craving for one every couple of hours. But so far I have resisted the beast. Just wanted to give and update and again thank you all for your help.
