I'm new to the vaping world and really need some direction!

Short story long... I bought a kit from the mall with disposable carts. Discovered that I'm one of the 3% allergic to PG or just sensitive to it. Had/still have raw sores in my mouth and on my lips from the Chinese made PG liquid that leaks out. Not fun. I must be really determined not to stink up my new car or just ready to quit... not sure which. So far it has been about 3 wks since I stopped smoking analogs, but had to go back to them for a few days to let my mouth heal and wait for a popular brand's starter kit to arrive. The analogs tasted horrible, smelled horrible and just plain made me feel like crap. Needless to say... back to the Chinese made PG's.

Let's just say that from day one of the new VG only kit... it did nothing. Not kidding... literally nothing. Tried all their suggestions and still nothing. Waited for replacement parts and guess what... more nothing! Ok, so my mouth still really hurts and I really need some suggestions of what direction to take. I can't afford to make any more costly mistakes.

I am looking for: 1. Suggestions on the best delivery system, 2. Some good, reliable American made flavored VG juice or carts companies/sites 3. Suggestions so that I can do it right this time and get a great starter kit or put together the components that I need to make my own great "kit" 4. Anything else I haven't mentioned that I obviously don't know yet!!! I know you all followed that train of thought right?!

I really can't afford to have to wait till the wknd or next week to make this decision, but I'd really like to hear from someone who has maybe already made some of the mistakes I have and has already gone a little further and made the discoveries to help them be successful and satisfied! Possibly the person who says "If I had only known" or "I wish I would've purchased this in the 1st place".

I really need my mouth to heal and to try the VG asap. I do not ever want to go back to my clothes stinking, coughing all day, nasty stares from others and besides... analogs never tasted as good as the Vanilla and Mango that I have tried!! I've heard lots of other flavors mentioned on this site and can't wait to try them! Yeah!

Hi and welcome to ECF
Virgin Vapor | Electronic Cigarette Organic e-Liquid | Electronic Cigarettes sells VG juice and have helped many with juice sensitivity issues. Here's their vendor supported ECF thread:
Virgin Vapor
Realize also vaping is extremely dehydrating because the PG and VG are hygroscopic- traps water in our mouth, throat and nasal areas and thus the vapor. I drink at least 2 liters of water per day. I found that I'm sensitive to Ethyl Maltol aka Cotton Candy a sweetener that juice vendors use. I get cankers and mouth ulcers if I use it.
100 mah= 1 hr normal vaping before recharge. Understand if using a variable voltage and vaping at a higher voltage battery life will be diminished.

Cig sized:Volt, Bloog, etc cig sized and battery life is an issue- less common 808 threading/ connection.

eGo Class: eGo fires @ 3.3 volts while the Kgo (same size) fires @ 3.7 volts- both come in 650 and 1100 mah- most popular 510 threading/ connection. Manual batteries. Kgo starter kit costs about $40:
KGO kit1100mAh by SLB
or
KGO kit1100mAh by SLB

Mini Variable Volt PV: 510 threading/ connection. Manual Batteries.
Twist comes in 650, 900 and 1000 mah. Dial very narrow/ smooth and not easy to turn. Voltage numbers very hard to read/ invisible.
Vision Spinner comes in 400, 650, 900, 1100 and 1300 mah. Wide knurled voltage dial easy to turn and easy to read voltage markings. 1300 mah Spinner is the same size as 1000 Twist.
Both variable voltage PVs above fire from 3.3-4.8 volts.
I owned the Twists and have sold them because the dial was hard to turn and I could not clearly see the voltage markings. Awaiting delivery of the Spinner. Also own a Kgo and I LOVE it. Have used the eGo and prefer the Kgo because of the higher voltage.
1300 Vision Spinner- 113mm or ~4.4 inches long; 16MM WIDE, 2MM WIDER THAN A STANDARD EGO
1100 Vision Spinner- 119mm or ~4.75 inches long
1000 Twist- Length 120mm(4.75")/Diameter 14mm

Advantage of the VV- when stressed and need a stronger hit I can easily and quickly dial up the voltage. For an all day vape I can lower it to 3.7-4.0. Also some flavors really shine at high voltage while others at a lower voltage.

Here's a Kgo review by well known PB

I know Johnson Creek makes all VG liquids and have gotten positive reviews, although I was never that big of a fan. Premium USA E-Liquid, Electonic Cigarettes and Handcrafted USA E-Juice by Mister-E-Liquid.com lets you choose the mixture of PG/VG in almost all of their juices and I've heard really good things about them. As for delivery system, I'm a big fan of the Vision Vivi Nova clearomizer tanks, although I don't know if the wicking system they use would work that well for such a thick juice. Try a few different kinds of cartomizer/clearomizers until you find one that works well. Other than the Vivi, I like the Phoenix Bottom Coil clearomizers and the Smoketech Dual Coil Tanks (DCT).
As far as a kit, I would definitely recomend the Ego Twist 1000mah battery to start with. When I started I got a "mini cigs" kit that cost me $130 that I only used for about two weeks before getting an Ego. Litecigusa has the Twists for pretty cheap as well as a ton of accessories.

Don't assume that you are allergic to PG. When I first started I was using a cig-alike with no drip tip. After a week or so one of the cartomizers kept spitting juice in my mouth. I pitched it but I got sores on my mouth. Since then I use drip tips on everything and haven't seen sores since.

Order some all VG juices to start with but try one juice that is a normal PG/VG mix. Always use drip tips and if you ever get any juice on or around your mouth wash the outside of your mouth and rinse your mouth out well with water.

I agree with trying Virgin Vapors. Not only do they have all VG juices but they have some that don't even use any PG based flavorings. Their fruit flavors are excellent and some of their coffee flavored juices are popular. There are other places that offer all VG juices but I don't recall seeing comments about PG in their flavorings.

I started and quit cigarettes with cig-alikes but getting variable voltage Twists and Vivi Nova tanks was like night and day in increasing my satisfaction with the vaping experience. I also found that combo easier and much less hassle than using the cig-alikes. Pick up some cartomizers or Vivi Nova anodized aluminum tubes for juices that chemically react with plastic tanks.

Thanks for all of this great info!!!

I will get started on doing some research on all of the items that you guys have recommended for me to try. For some reason this seems much more daunting than I thought it would be. I must say that I am VERY excited though to try things that taste amazing and will be satisfying but won't break the bank! No money tree in the back yard... or maybe I do have one and the leaves have already fallen off!! I thought the neighbors acted like they suddenly came into some cash!

SO, it seems like what I need to purchase is: variable voltage batteries, cartomizers/clearomizers, some kind of wick, and drip tips. Is that correct? Are there any other components that I need to get? Are most of these components compatible from brand to brand? Should I buy the eGo or kGo starter kit and the other items mentioned in addition to that, or how are they sold? Sorry... like I said, I'm really new to this and was only verbally provided info on the ecigs that look like analogs and have really expensive disposable carts.

Aside from the mouth reaction, these Chinese disposable carts don't last long at all. I'm going through at least 2-3 a day and I only smoked no more than 1 pk/day of analogs. Maybe I'm smoking them more often because I love the vanilla so much, who knows? It seems to be all about the flavors for me, mmmmm love vanilla and fruit flavors! I loved the Mango and the Fruit Punch, but through process of elimination I discovered the non vanilla flavors were causing the worst sores and rawness in my mouth. I know it sounds gross, but I really never expected this reaction to happen! I love the suggestion of trying samples of the juice and also after trying the 100% VG to try combinations or see what percentage of juice works best with the delivery system that I decide on. I'll check out Virgin Vapors and Mister E-liquid.

I'm ready, time for me to get this process goin' again!

Just wanted to say Thanks to Vapoor eyes er for the advice on the KGO, and about the recommendation to try Virgin Vapor along with you too peraspera! Also a Thanks to cjwi for the info about the Vivi Nova!

I just saved myself the hassle after researching Virgin Vapor and not only got the KGO set, but also the Vivi Nova's and some amazing Organic 100% VG juices that I'm very happy with!!! Also very happy to report that I am no longer getting mouth sores and looking forward to healing soon! Yea!!

Just another quick question... is there something to cover up the tank on the Vivi Nova or an adapter that screws onto the bottom of it to make it look seamless with the KGO battery? It just looks kinda funny and HUGE on the KGO battery. Thx

You're welcome and I'm glad you're doing so much better and thank you for reporting back as I'm sure others with similar issues are following this thread. Yes Annette. Kitty and Team at VV are incredible.

The Mini Vivi (2.0 ml) looks best on the Kgo. The regular Vivi Nova (3.5 ml) is a little too large. There is a cone that fits where the threading is. I'll try and find one but I've never used it. Will edit this post when I find it. I have a friend that uses the Mini while she's out and about and the 3.5 ml tank when at home. Which size Vivi did you order?

I purchase practically everything from this vendor...
Best Electronic Cigarettes and E-Liquid - MyFreedomSmokes.com

Here is what I would recommend.

Ego Twist Battery (this is a beginner variable voltage device. low costing, good construction)
Joyetech eGo-C Twist Variable Voltage 650mAh Battery - MyFreedomSmokes.com

Smoktech Redux Clearomizer (or Vision/Stardust. Low costing. Easy cleaning. Very good starter equipment)
SmokTech Redux eGo Clearomizer with Changeable, Replaceable Heads, Coils, and Wicks

Best Electronic Cigarettes and E-Liquid - MyFreedomSmokes.com does carry VG liquid. I would send them an email asking if it is 100% VG, or if they can maybe do a mix/sample pack to see if you are indeed allergic. Chris over there really works well with people and the customer service is excellent.
You can probably get 1 Twist, and 1 Clearomizer and some juice for around 35 - 40 bucks. Or get a full kit (listed below) for abit more.

I recently bought a starter kit, and it has been fantastic. Easy to use, Easy to clean. Parts are made well. I use them daily, and have had no issues at all.
Joyetech Twist w/ CE5 Ultimate Starter Kit

Perhaps they can send you some 3ml samples of various juices to test out.

Vapoor eyes er, I got a Vivi Nova to go on the KGO. I like the idea of a smaller one to use when I'm out.

Yes, Annette and Kitty have been truly amazing and wonderful! They absolutely understand what customer service is all about. I can honestly say that I have never been treated so well by ANY company I've dealt with for anything! I'm sooooo impressed with their Organic 100% alcohol free juices as well... sooo good and sooo willing to take recommendations and customize. I'm a happy new vapor! I didn't see a smaller Vivi tank on their site but I will see if they can get one... and some kind of adapter to make it fit seamlessly. I'd like to just purchase all my supplies and juices from them, but realize I may have to get some components elsewhere.

Where do people get cases to carry their "cigs" in? Pretty funny, but I don't even know what to call this thing fully assembled!!! Is it called a Personal Vaporizer? I'm still learning what all the components are called.

Mouth ulcers are a common symptom of smoking cessation. Could this be a problem? I had a few of those for the first couple of weeks after I quit smoking.

I ran into allergy trouble a couple of months after I quit smoking entirely and switched to vaping. I used a lightly flavored tobacco juice that was mostly PG. I switched to a very high concentration VG unflavored DIY juice and the allergy problems disappeared quickly. I still don't know whether the problem was with PG or flavorings. I've enjoyed the unflavored so much I've had no desire to try flavorings yet. Maybe I'll try some flavorings in future.

Again, I DIY. I get the nicotine base in 100% VG (Glycerin USP) in large bottles from Xtreme Vaping. Their nicotine base is US sourced, dated and batch numbered.

Regarding devices: I do just fine with a little 1050mAh E-Power 14650. Lots of vapor.

yzer... you should try Virgin Vapor and talk directly to Annette (owner) re her juices.

They are amazing and if you go to her site virginvapor.com you can get a lot of info just like I did a few wks ago! I was sooo impressed with the quality of their products that I don't plan to shop anywhere else or even try anyone else's juices. I am very satisfied with their 100% Organic VG and artificial-everything free juices. Amazing vapor and TH too!

Send her a msg to have any of your questions answered... she'll get back to you very quickly! You can also check out the Virgin Vapor forum on this site. I got a lot of info about them and vaping in general there as well. You will hopefully find out you can try AND enjoy their flavors like I have! Give em a try... IMO you'll be a happy camper (er... vaper) like I am!!

Thanks very much for the recommendation but I'm very happy taking the DIY route and couldn't be happier with the juice I'm using. Really, I don't need or want a flavored juice at all at this point.

I just like DIY and enjoy messing around with graduated cylinders and pipettes. Also, I can make a 30 ml bottle of juice for under $4.
