Need to quit! I smoke marlboro reds/lights 2-4ppd for years-started at 12 yo. Im now 37 and really starting to have diff breathing. Not concerned about price just want the best product to help me quit. Tried patches-gum-hypnosis-which obviously didnt work. I would like the e-cig to look like the real deal if poss, but more importantly...i would love the throat hit/vapor to be as strong as possible. My addiction is probably way more mental than physical. Been doing research for 4 days-but the more i read-more im confused. Whats the best e-cig available for my habbit/situation, cartriges? Strength of cartriges? Better to use/refill with "juice?" what kind/brand of juice is best or most realistic? Whats best/strongest juice, ect... Again, money not an issue-not cause im rich, just that id like to see my 7 and 9yo daughters graduate. Please help!!

If money is not an issue. The I would look at these 2-3 right off the bat:

Janty Kissbox or Janty Stick: Janty USA

Screwdriver: ecigscrewdriver.com

I would look here for your liquid: E-Liquid - Totally Wicked E-Juice

With your usage I would look at 24mg or 36mg juice.

But, do yourself a favor and look at the threads I linked. You will be much happier I you do....................

brapablo745, I tend to suggest a DSE-901 because it seems to have the best reviews as far as a product with reliability, simplicity of use, good overall ability to satisfy user requirements (size, weight, looks, battery life, cartridge life, etc).

Keep in mind that the smaller and "more realistic" e-cig you go for, you sacrafice battery life, vapor/throat hit (possibly), and longevity of the cartridge.

In other words, the larger of an e-cig model you go with, the better your chances for battery life, vapor/throat hit (possibly), and longevity of the cartridge.

I personally started out with (and am still using) the DSE-901 and have been extremely happy w/ it's performance. However, I do plan on moving on and trying a Dura C so that I can enjoy longer usage between battery charges (and more importantly) a larger cartridge which will mean less refills while vaping.

As far replacing cartridges versus refilling....I'm a fan of refilling. It's far more economical and it allows me the option to mix flavors in pursuit of the perfect flavor that I want to consistently vape on a daily basis (still searching!) I don't know that I've really run into very many fans of replacing pre-filled cartridges. If you do go w/ refilling, I would suggest you look into Totally Wicked's Marlboro (I bought the Super High strength). I find it provides a ton of vapor and has more throat hit than I need.

Hope this helps!

Hi, Brapablo,

Welcome to the forums! I've recently been right where you are. I found this forum by looking for e-cigarette reviews and bought the first starter kit that I read about. I don't regret it, either.

I use a DSE801 version sold by vaporcig.com for $99 for a starter kit. It comes with two batteries, an atomizer, a charger, five cartridges, and a bottle of eJuice. They throw in an extra atomizer, so you get two complete e-cigs out of the deal.

They call their version the "Vapor 1000."

The 801 and it's slight smaller cousin, the 901, are popular and common. They are easy to get parts and cartridges for, from several sources. The 801 has a 1.1 ml cartridge size and holds a lot of juice.

You can order the same kind of kit from China for right at half what vaporcig.com sells their's for. The advantages, of course, is that they warranty what they sell. They also do same-day shipping and are extraordinarily polite and easy to deal with. I had a couple of batteries go bad. They shipped new ones out priority mail and even included an envelope to send the bad ones back.

If you plan to vape in public, I suggest that you start with something that does NOT look a regular cigarette. Besides their being know as "minis" in the industry, they have really small cartridges and batteries. They also tend to attract, IMHO, the wrong type of attention. I prefer to vape something that does not like a regular smoke. That could be just me, of course. :)

I smoked Marlboro Ultralights 4 ppd, and I vape 24 mg (Totally Wicked Virginia currently) and TW Cherry 36 mg. :) Both have a "kick" to them. The cherry is fun, but the Virginia is sweet and smooth. The most tobacco-like, again IMO, is the Turkish. It packs a little wallop, too. I gave what I ordered away.

Let me see something... yes, vaporcig has a special going where if you enter a code when purchasing, they'll include an extra 50 ml of your choice of eJuice. That's in the supplier section of this forum.

When you start out, you may as well stock up on some cartridges. They are refillable, so you'll need the shells of the used ones. I suggest having about 60 or so cartridges on hand when starting.

vaporcig sells cartridges 20 for $14.95. They max out at 16 mg, though.

In theory, anybody's 801 cartridges should fit, but some here found an incompatiblity due to a change in the design in the 801. (They put a higher "bridge" on the atomizer in the current model.)

Anyway, that was my path to being smokeless by switching full-time to vaping instead.

Hopefully, you'll get plenty of other suggestions. Oh, and one more thing - batteries are very fickle. I suggest that you get spares for both the batts and the atomizers. vaporcig sells batteries for $15 each, but it's not on the website - you have to call your order in to get them.

That's toward the high end of what 801 batteries should cost, but if you're into the looks of the thing, the batteries match the atomizers, and both carry the TheVapor logo.

In summary, I'm glad that I went with vaporcig. They support newbies.

And here's how I suggest quitting. Set your e-Cig and your smokes down side by side. Go through your nomal day, smoking and taking some drags from the e-Cig. Continue that for a while, and when you're vaping instead of smoking, just switch over.

Lot's of people here say that they stopped smoking accidentally, and I think that's great. That's why I suggest setting yourself up to "accidentally" stop smoking.

Three weeks after you stop, you may be tempted to try a cigarette. I advocate trying this, even though you'll be throwing the cigrarette pack away. You'll be amazed at how GROSS the things you smoked are once you're off all those extra chemicals your cigarettes are laced with. You'll be surprised, too, at how just a few puffs of a real cigarette can make you sick!

Hey, a bunch of us are newbies here. (We are are very own support group.) :)

Don't hesitate to ask questions or jump in to ask for more details. Somehow this forum has become information central for all e-cigarettes.

Enjoy, and good luck!

Brapablo glad to hear you decided to see the girls graduate. Elindil gives great advise and help, I urge to listen to him. If I was you I would order up the 510,yeti,dura c (all the same device) and then place your order for a SD product for a long durable lasting piece of hardware that just plain works. Always purchase extra batteries and atomizers. Then get extra liquid using the small 10 mil sizes until you decide what you like to vape then you can get larger quantities later. There is a learning curve to vaping so bear with it and you will come out the winner.

I believe the dura c burns hotter than a 901 which in turn gives the better throat hit. Throat hit is what you will be looking to mimick for satisfaction at first. I believe the SD burns as hot as the dura but lasts much longer with the batteries and believe us all batteries can be the achilles heel of e-cig. Taste well that really is subjective and can exhausting at first trying to figure out what taste works for you. One day it may taste like craqp then a mo nth later that may change. Usually takes about 3 mils of liquid to figure out the taste likeablity for me.

whats the diff between the 810 and 910?

The 801 is a little larger in diameter than a 901. Conventional wisdom says you get more vapor and throat hit with an 801. An 801 aklso burns a little hotter.

901 is the most common type of atomizer. As a result it is the easiest to obtain parts for.

Right now all I have is 901 compatible equipment and I have been very happy with it. I have my first 2 801 devices on order, so I will be interested to see if the conventional wisdom has merit.........

801 has a larger atomizer unit with the capacity to hold more liquid and a larger battery. The draw on it has been reported to be well ,different. Some people like it others don't. If money is not a concern you should just buy one to check it out, you may be one of those that like it. The 901 is just the main workhorse a lot of people start off with because parts and etc. are readily available a great unit to start with by the way. The 901 does not get as hot as the dura so the throat hit a little different but the taste is reported to be better because it is not burning as hot. Really you should buy 801,901,dura and SD. In the long run curiousity will lead you this way anyway and it helps when you frist quit to be tinkering with all this new stuff to keep your mind off whatever they stick in analogs to drive you nuts for the first few days or weeks. Best of luck

so i should go dura c for the 'throat hit?' cause i agree-initially that will be very important! when u say "SD product" what again do u mean? im sorry-just so much info to take in.

SD = Screwdriver (see the pic in my sig line)

you can also see it here: ecigscrewdriver.com

A SD is short for screwdriver. It is made by trog and his troglodytes in uk somewhere in a cave. They really are quite crafty little elfs that pioneered the very first functional long lasting e-cig, for that alone they deserve a try. I like to apply loyalty where it is deserved and trust me it is a well built piece of hardware. Some will refer to it as sucking on the end of a flashlight because its body is originally a flashlight body, but they are only jealous they did not pioneer the device themselves. Trog the main troglodyte is great to deal with also. You will be happy with the unit if you so decide.

im still just a little confused... i should look at 510, yeti, dura c. but then consider ordering "sd product" need help?

The 510/Yeti/Dura are all the same type of ecig. Where you buy it determines what it is called.

If I was ordering a 901 I would order from:

e-Smokey Treats - Electronic Cigarette's, The healthy alternative to traditional tobacco cigarette's

or

Electric Cigarette & E Liquid - Totally Wicked Electronic Cigarette Fluid

You can get good juice from either of these places as well. I would advise at least 4 atomizers and 5 batteries to start.............

you can order a Screwdriver with either an 801 or 901.........
