Hey, I'm a new ecig user (and brand new member) and I'm looking for some help and advice. I got the Joye ego-t as my first ecigarette. I got the starter kit, and I think I followed what limited instructions there were correctly (mostly just fill the cartridge with juice). From the start I noticed that it did not produce nearly as much vapor as any video I've seen, even when sucking on it for 8 seconds.

I did discover at one point that if I dripped a couple of drops directly into the atomizer I got considerably more vapor (and less of a nasty taste) and enjoyed it a lot for a while. However after a couple weeks it's back to producing only a tiny amount of vapor.

Did I destroy the atomizer by doing that? If so... how the heck am I supposed to use it to get decent vapor without doing that? Am I missing a crucial step? Is this not the right ecigarette for me?

ok first off welcome to the forums. second, the ego-t (tank) system is very how do i say it... crap.
if you look inside the addy you will see a spike. this spike pokes a hole in the tank which allows the juice to flow onto the wick then hittin the coil underneath which vaporizes the liquid. if you just got your ego-t you would have noticed the priming oil that is caked all over the atty when you first take it out. its a good idea to blow out all this oil from inside the atty. you can do so by blowing from the top end (not the threaded end). also, that nasty taste your tasting is a combination of things.

1- its probably the priming oil that wasnt been blown out, gives a nasty burnt taste. it takes a little while before that nasty burnt oil taste goes away. keep dripping a few in there and it will go away, not too much though.
2- the wick isnt gettin enough liquid to the coil, causing that burnt taste, very common problem with the ego tank system.

i find if my juice is almost 100%pg it wicks a bit better but still get that nasty burnt taste. dripping a few drops into the atty wont harm it as long as you dont go over board and drip too much and then it starts to leak all over the battery and you flood the atty. a few drops goes a long way.

i recommend dropping the tanks and get yourself these. Crystal Clear Vaping

get the LR (low resistance) ones

your problem is very common with the ego tanks sytems. but you did chose well because the ego batteries are awsome.

happy vaping

to add what verison of the ego do you have? A or B?

This is the exact one I got -- Joye eGo-T

thats A. no need to blow it out now you already burned most of the primer oil off already. keep topping off your tank constantly. are your tanks all plastic or plastic with a silicone cap that you can pull off and refill? if they are all plastic use a syringe to fill the tanks dont pop the cap off the all plastic ones, they tend to leak once you do that a few times.

Btw you might want to look into cartos. I popped on some old one from my modern vapor 902 and noticed an increase in flavor. I have some smoktech cartos from sweet-vapes.com coming to try out. Been hearing good things about them in the thread I posted earlier. Here's the link if your interested

yeah, A's give very little vapor, and the B's, not much better. Boge LR cartos are indeed, excellent -- i'd also suggest you look into getting some Ego Mega Dual Coil Cartomizers (aka EMDCC's -- available at madvapes and tons of other places)...a bit more mellow on flavor than LR's, but vapor production is fabulous, and they hold a TON -- great for work, road trips, or a night on the town.

No. I don't watch many e-cig videos. You may have it flooded & need to blow it out. Note tank align to atty. Many say the atty is only good for about a week. Look into dry burns.

I don't even recognize the other guys desc. of the eGo tank A system. :smokie:
Though the primer... The 16 mg. "menthol" juice I started off w/ had a hint of burning rubber- nice, but I was expecting menthol.

Hi and welcome Brian_W!

OK, some people hate the eGo-T's, but some love them. I am of the latter. I have some other very nice kit, but I still love my eGo-T's. Smooth draw, good flavor and clouds of vapor. I'm just telling you this, so that you don't suddenly get discouraged by negative comments.
OK... :). I get CLOUDS of vapor from my eGo-T! How much vapor ir produces depends on other factors too, like for eg. What eliquid you are using, how much VG (more VG = more vapor) in it and how clean or clogged up your atty is. Every time I refill my tank, I clean out the atty by blowing through the battery side of the atomizer, with a bit of rolled up tissue stuck in the side where the tank goes in. I often use a can of compressed air to do this, or if I am in a big hurry, just by blowing in it. I do this until the tissue comes out clean. Then I pop back the filled tank and take a few dry hits (ie. not pressing the vape button) to pull some juice through. Then my atomizer vapes good as new.
Every now and again I do a better clean by dropping through some alcohol from the battery side and then doing the air blow method (and dry hit) I described above. All three of my Ego-T atomizers are still going strong after 3 months. Some people soak their atomizer in hot water or vodka, and then drain to dry, pop on filled tank, a few dry hits and away you go.

Hope this helps.

Wow... that is very much not my experience. When I clean it out it's a bit better, but still not much. Based on a video that someone posted I tried using a needle to pierce the cartridge base before inserting it, and again that helped, but now I go through liquid pretty crazy quickly (but might also be the base of the cardtridge coming loose -- had that happen once before and had to ditch the cartridge).

I've used two eliquids: one from puresmoker and one from Johnson Creek. I have no idea how to tell how much VG is in it

Will the cartos you linked to work with an Ego-T Mega? I get confused whenever I see stuff for Ego-T that doesn't specify "Mega". I haven't seen a nonmega in person so I'm not sure what the difference is.

Do you mean the caps on the tanks? Do you have the extra silicone end caps or just the hard ones that were on the tanks? I don't know about JC's or Puresmoker's ejuices. Maybe you can check on their website or ask someone here?
Personally, I always decant a portion of bought ejuice into another little dropper bottle, and then I add some VG and shake. I always buy my ejuices with max nic content and 'thin it down' myself with VG. Not only does it save a lot of money (on ejuice) it also helps my ejuice produce huge satisfying plumes of vapor.
Were your atties producing good vapor in the beginning?
