I know the initial cost of getting set-up might might seem like a lot - but fortunately you found ECF and can get a great kit for $50-$70 - not the $150 as mass marketed brands.

Once you have all your kit and accessories, here is some math using liquid to refill your own cartomizers.

Liquid: $4.00 per 10ml.

Let's assume you can fill 20 carto's with that 10ml. I know they are supposed to hold 1 ml each - but I don't think i come close to that in each.

$4.00/20 = .20 cents to fill each or $.80 cents for 5.

Even if you could only fill 15 with that bottle, it is still only $.27 cents per fill.

Admittedly cartos do not last forever and you will have to buy more with time. But you can see the math.

Filling your own is the ONLY way to go... Happy vaping!!! ;)

So true... Even if vaping would have the same cost as analogs, we're talking about our health. Can put a price on your health...

Very true, cost is not the point of vaping. But I think some get discouraged as they spend and spend - especially if they bought the wrong kit from a mass marketer and paid a fortune. Even if they did - once they get the right product and stick to vaping and refill your own - you can save a LOT of money vs. analogs...

So this is a "flip it up" post....:D

how many cartos do you burn through in 1 month

No comment..... lol. I go through FAR too many probably... I am not even sure... I would not be surprised if i go through 4 a day. Yeck maybe more. Maybe much more.

I have to fill my own as it would cost me a fortune. But they also taste FAR better filling your own...

I have only been vaping 2 full weeks, 3 if you count my initial Safe Cig purchase that I far over paid for...

My guess is they can be filled for weeks, but maybe not. I have not had any burn out - yet. But I have like 20 of them to fill...

Blank cartos are about $8 for 5. Not that bad.

Keep in mind pre-filled from the mass marketers range $12 to as high as $20. I would go broke vaping like that... Craziness.

Great cost analysis! You can cut the cost down further too.

If you vape anything below 36mg, order 36mg bottles and get yourself some PG or VG to cut it with! I have a 36mg, 30ml bottle of juice that I bought at the beginning of September and cut it with some PG, it's lasting a pretty long time vs if I had bought a lower strength of mg. You will lose some flavor but if you're on a really tight budget, it will help ease the cost of juice. If the sight you're ordering from offers a strong strength of flavor without added cost, go for the strongest strength they offer so you don't lose as much flavor.

I've had my xpower900 for 11 days and burnt out 2 atomizers.
At that rate I'll be spending about $50.00 a month just for atomizers.
Those 50 ml bottles look good to me, been working on one of the 50 ml chinese marlboro 24mg and I don't mind the taste.
Only used 1/3 of the bottle in 2 weeks.

I think I heard that the Xpower may have an issue about that - but I am not certain. I do not use atomizers. I just do not see the point vs a cartomizer unless people like to direct drip or something.

If you used carto's and you burned 2 EVERY week that is still only maybe $12 - $15 a month and I cannot imagine you would burn that many....

Edit: Also if you are using LR atomizers i think those burn up rather quickly... But again, I only use carto's, so I am not the person to ask about that.

The supplier I just bought 5 atomizers from claims they have a 14 day warranty on atomizers right on the web page.
The math just doesn't work, if the typical life of an atomizer is only 6 days.

Well again, why are you even buying atomizers? I still have not figured out why anyone uses them. Perhaps it is a taste thing or something... I don't get it.

Edit: Plenty of people do use atomizers. I know that. I just have not figured out why unless dripping. I very much doubt i will ever use my atomizer again.

My hunch is you are buying them through LiteCigUSA? $8.00 for 1 atomizer vs 5 carto's for $8. Math is much better using carto's...

Edit: For newbs a cartomizer is the atomizer and cartridge in 1 piece, essentially making your PV a 2 piece unit instead of 3.

I like having the option to drip.
But I see now that 5 blank cartomizers are the same price as one atomizer.
Thanks for your help, I didn't notice that before.
I'll definitely have to check into the carto angle.

Ok, that's why. Yes, if you drip then you have to have an atomizer. I am lazy about all this. I simply want to pick up and puff... Well, at least you know you have a cheaper option... you may like to drip better... but...cost...

Also, do NOT compare the taste of a pre-filled carto with one you fill. It isn't comparable. Not sure if you have tried carto's yet - so wanted to point that out.

I don't know what you are using for atomizers but my husband and I have both been vaping a little over two months and we are both still using the same atty that we started with. No cleaning, no dry burns. From what I have read this is not a rare case or anything and you should be getting more time out of your atties.

Oh and just to add some input about cost (after startup costs and the initial cost of stocking up on backup stuff) we have settled in at around $30 in juice between the two of us per month. Not bad when we were spending close to $300 a month for analogs.

I've spent just a little under $350 this month on hardware and juice. I Upgraded to an eGo and got lots of XL cartomizers,Mega- attys,Mega- carts, and extra batteries(900mah). I figure hardware wise I am set for probably 1.5-2 years and I have about 10 months of juice figuring I'll go through 3ml/day (60ml a month). If I still smoked I'd spend about $200 on 4 cartons of Pall/Malls a month and over 10 months that would be $2000. So over a period of 10 months I'll eventual save about $1650. I shouldn't need any hardware for a long time and will just need about $30 in juice a month when what I have now is depleted.
