Hello everyone. I wanted introduce myself as I have been lurking the forums for several weeks now. My journey to the e cigarette world has been a little different than most. As a smoker of over 10 years, I was able to put them down using 4mg nicotine gum. I have only had a few analogs over the past few years, but I've been chewing nicotine gum constantly for almost three years now. I would say I am just as much, if not more, addicted to the gum as I was to the analogs. "Chain gumming" is quite expensive and is quite exhaustive to the jaw! A few weeks ago, I was out and realized I had forgotten my gum and I was already running a little late for a meeting. There was a trusty WalStore on the way and I thought I'd just stop and drop $40 on a week supply of gum. At the register, they had disposable Blu's on sale and I thought that since I dearly missed smoking and I had never tried them, I'd give them a shot. I purchased two of them and I was in love. So much so that the next day I purchased the Blu kit from the WalStore (whoops!).

After using this kit for a few weeks (successfully), I started wondering if the expensive carts could be refilled. This led me to Johnson Creek juice where I purchased their Vea. Now I know there are those of you who will tell me I overpaid for a glorified eGo and I'm ok with that. I've bought it now and I'm going to use it! Besides, I can assure you that this won't be my last equipment purchase! The Vea really does vape wonderfully and I am 100% satisfied with the unit itself. What I'm not satisfied with is the juice. I ordered blank carts and several 24mg juices to go along with the kit. All the juice I ordered was VG. The juice is flavored nicely, but it is extremely harsh to vape. I returned 2 of the juices and exchanged them for 11mg juice, one PG and 1 VG. I'm hoping the lower nicotine level will tone it down a bit. They should arrive tomorrow so I'll see then.

What I want to know is if there is a juice out there that is similar (in smoothness, not taste) to the blue carts. I can pop a blue cart onto the Vea and it is a wonderful vaping experience for me. So far, all I've got is a sore throat from the Vea. I've been smoking a cherry crush Blu cart all day today and it has been wonderful! Does anyone have any juice suggestions?

Hi and welcome to ECF! I can't say I know what the Blu flavors are like, but might have an idea to help you with the harshness. If you're like me you started by inhaling the ecig just like a cigarette, which is really hot and hard on the throat. The best way for me is to draw a puff into my mouth, then inhale it. It cools it enough and it is much easier on your throat. I hope that helps, and I'm sure another person here can help you match a flavor. Just keep digging and asking questions - we'll be happy to help!

Lower nic is a good start. Some vendors use different additives, like capcasin (pepper) or alcohol to mimic throat hit, so you are right to look around. Depending on where you are in North Carolina there may be a store not too far away where you can sample some juices to really find a good fit. Madvapes comes to mind, but you'll want to look at the suppliers list and see who's close. There's a button on the top bar for the list, or here - Forum Suppliers List.

You might find a juice with higher mg nic that still has little harshness, depending on who makes it.

Different brands will have different levels of harshness, and it will vary among their flavors as well. I like Halo Menthol Ice and Truepure, and think their Malibu is very smooth, but that's just my take. I'm not in need for much harshness/throat hit, but some people want it to feel more like a burning cigarette.

Hi and welcome to ECF. You will find I think that with the more expensive types that you have more options on flavor and nic count. I would recommend a one with variable voltage. There are a lot. I got my start using a Ego Twist 1000mah. I still use it but now I have 3 batteries. Juice flavors are very subjective and so that will take some experimenting on your part. Get some sample packs.
Hope this helps.
Here is some stuff you may find useful.

I switched over from Blu just over a month ago. I believe the Blu ejuice is 100% VG, so you may want to go that route. If you like the Blu tobacco flavor, you might try an RY4. I've tried a couple of different RY4's from different vendors, one was sweeter than the Blu, the other had a cinnamon aftertaste I didn't really like. I also liked the pina colada Blu, but haven't found one that is exactly the same.

I also believe the Blus ave lower nicotine than you might think, 18 mg for the high and 11 mg for the medium, so you could try similar nicotine juices in 100 VG to replicate what you like about the Blus.

I'm new to vaping too, and was just about set to buy a Blu because the thing I didn't like about the disposables I'd tried around different companies was that the flavors weren't anywhere near what they were supposed to taste like (berry flavors that tasted like generic fruit, tobacco flavors that just tasted like year-opened analog smokes) was one of the big selling points of the Blu.

The not-cool side of Blu was the expense of the carts, though, so after their website showed that Johnson Creek Smoke Juice supplies their liquids that's where I went digging, and after checking out a crapton more companies I popped for the Vea this past week.

The one thing I haven't been nuts about is the peppery flavor, but I'm pretty sure I'm using too high a nicotine. The 1.8 carts that came with the main set had a little bit of it but the 2.4 juice I got for refilling has more of it, especially with the flavors that have a tobacco tone to them. I notice it a little with the non-tobacco flavors (I've been vaping the Rainier, an all-VG juice, all day) but much more with the Arctic Menthol (PG/VG). So you may need to cut down to lower nic counts and check the flavor balances to find the juices that have less pronounced tobacco components.

I'm pretty sure my next order will likely be mostly the Red Oak line, and I may go down at least one nic level, maybe pick up something another level down to compare. Maybe the Vea is a high-price tag eGo, but I don't much care--the Vea's one sexy system and I'm loving it.
