I’m newer than a newbie to all this --- I’ve read a lot, but am feeling a bit thick-headed about the whole process and haven’t dared try to vape yet. Still, I’m desperate to get off analog cigarettes, though, so am trying to figure out where and how to start.

First off, I’m in Canada. I currently smoke around 20 Rothman’s Red analogs a day. After reading through all the recommendations here, I’ve decided I want to order an e-cig that resembles an analog, so as not to draw too much attention to myself. I’m thinking about ordering a M401 kit from evapers.com. Having decided that --- though, I’d certainly appreciate any input on that decision --- now I’m trying to figure out the nicotine.

The starter kit comes with empty cartridges. I’m hoping I can find pre-filled cartridges so that I don’t have to fuss with taking things apart or putting drops on parts or mixing glycerine until I’ve adapted to the whole process. I’m just not sure I’d stick with it if I had to fuss too much. Is it possible to buy pre-filled cartridges? Are they available from a Canadian vendor?

I really appreciate any advice y’all might be able to offer.

I got mine from cloud9smoking, look just like real cig, Most people like the 510, but i wanted real looking one, got the 89 dollar package comes with 2 battery's, usb charger and wall charger, 55 pre filled carts, but i fill my own now much cheaper and kinda fun too, see all the mods and all, That one reason the 510 is so popular is the fact all the differ mods, but mine vapes excellent, and the customer service is top rate, just other day i ordered 3 extra atomisers, got the order in 2 days, but only got 2 atomisers, called them they not only sent another atomizer they sent 2 more atomisers plus free bottle of juice an sent it next day delivery, Thought that was real straight up service,,Hell just next service day is like 25 bucks,Total got 3 atomisers and 30ml bottle juice and next day , for them missing my order by 1 atomiser, hope this help, BTW i was smoking 3 packs a day for 30 years, still got 1/2 cartoon of analogs sitting next to my computer with no desire to touch them. Happy vaping these ecigs are slicker then whales snot :)

You might want to check out the Canadian Members Sub-forum. I'm sure there is lots of information there that will help you. However... you won't be able to start a new thread there until your post count is up to 15.

You should also read Wonderful World of Vaping if you haven't already. It has lots of general information that can help any new vaper!

Good luck!

:)

It is funny how in the beginning it seems so hard to find things you should post about. Chances are that will eventually change and you will start to wonder if you are posting too much!

You might consider trying to find a friendly soul from that sub-forum and sending them a PM asking if they would mind opening a thread for you in that forum? It might work!

Good luck!

:)

I’ve been reading and reading, and can see now that, clearly, vapeing isn’t for everyone. As much as I’d like to get off analogue smokes, I’m almost ready to give up.

I think what I want is a mini e-cig that would look similar to my analogues, with a manual battery that would allow me to attach a cartomizer. After reading through a bazillion threads here, it doesn’t look like such a thing is available in Canada, and it also looks like HC and customs are making it pretty chancy to order such a thing from elsewhere. (Am I right?)

I just can’t see myself filling cartridges or dripping or taking things apart. I’m a widowed single mom who already has a full-time job and I'm far too clutzy for such a hobby. ;-)

Anyway, just thought I would post this here to thank everyone for all the info.

Hey there. There really are a lot of EXPENSIVE places that sell cartomizer models on the web, so congrats in regards to looking around first. I have seen some models attempt to get 150 bucks off of you for a starter kit. Thats insane.

Now, there are really no retailers in Canada who actively sell these for some reason. However you can order them from the US.

I have ordered batteries/kits/cartomizers from Vapor4Life, Nhaler, Volcano, Modern Vaper and a few other places in the USA, with absolutely no problems whatsoever.

I notice that you are also in the GTA...feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

You should honestly consider an M401 and the 'dipping' method, it really is easy. I was quite put off by the idea of filling up my own carts but it has turned out to be not so difficult after all.

My wife got into vaping with the 510. She wanted something extremely simple. She finds it simple to just pull off the cartridge, drop a couple drops on the batting, and then she's good for the equivalent of a cigarette. Don't give up yet! :)

Hi everyone,

I'm back. It seems like it took a lot to get me to this point, but thanks to the encouraging support from Can_Supplier and Happy Vaper and advice from BornAgainst --- a big thank you to those guys --- I ordered my first PV today. I ordered the “Ultimate Shorty Kit” from Vapor4Life, with a white, manual battery and some VG cartomizers.

I’m already excited and yet a bit tense about it. I’m nervous that it will never get through customs. I’m concerned that I’ll hate it. I’m anxious that I won’t be able to figure out how to do it right. I wish it would arrive today --- though, I’m afraid it might take me a while to work up the nerve to use it anyway. (Neurotic? You bet.)

Now I’ve got more questions: I’ve been reading about how inhaling the vapor is different from smoking analogues, and yet, so many people here say they haven’t had a cigarette since the day their PV arrived. So how does one figure out how to vape? I know it’s not rocket science, but I keep seeing posts about people having to learn not to “puff” on a PV like they would on an analogue. (Will I settle myself down in my usual smoking place, suck in too much vapor and pass out on the garage floor?!?)

Assuming I do eventually figure it out and enjoy it the way everyone here seems to, I’ll have to quickly order some more cartomizers. (I’ve ordered ten.) Do most cartomizers fit most batteries?

I ordered “tobacco-flavoured” cartomizers, assuming that, since this will replace analogues, I’ll want it to approximate the analogue experience as closely as possible to begin with. I’m not quite sure I “get” the flavours. Why on earth would anyone want to inhale banana-flavoured vapour?? Cinnamon-roll-flavoured vapour?? I don’t get it. Seriously, is it like having a Tic-Tac?

Anyway, I guess this is just a mixture of excitement and nerves over trying something new. If anyone feels like leaping in here to comfort me while I wait, I’d appreciate it greatly.

Ive not had one issue with customs, so you should be fine.

As for Tobacco flavors, ya can't beat 555 or Kamels.

Lastly, the Cinnamon Roll? It's pretty freakin sweet.

As you vape, your palette expands a bit, so it's fun to experiment. You'll see.

:)

Keep vapin, and keep us posted!

Hi portwest,
There's nothing to it. You just take a drag just like a regular cigarette except the drag is slower, even, and should be roughly 4 seconds. Works for me anyway. Just take it easy when you first start. What you'll find is that vaping does not seem to give you the nicotine instantly like a regular cigarette. It takes a couple minutes before you feel anything. As for the cartomizers from vapor4life, they will only fit the 808 battery. You can actually get adapters that let you use them on different model batteries. I'm pretty tempted to order from there just cause the cartomizers seem really convenient if you want to be switching flavors throughout the day. I don't know about the 25$ shipping to Canada though.

Be patient with yourself and you will develop your own style. In general take long, soft drags as gixer recommends. And as far as the flavors go... most of us start with flavors similar to the cigarettes we smoked but in time we venture out and really enjoy many of the other flavors as well.

Check out the Kr8 sub-forum for addition information about the model you have ordered. It will keep you entertained somewhat as you wait.

You can refill your cartomizers several times before they need to be tossed out. There is a great new technique for refilling cartomizers. Here is a link to the video. It will all make sense eventually. I promise!

I'm glad you have gotten so much support from others in Canada! Good luck!!!

:)

portwest, i started vaping with a fresh broken wrist that needed a plate put in,, plaster and all,, so i had to work out refilling my 510 carts one handed lol,, oh lordy what a crack up the first2 or 3 attempts, but i got it fairly fast, it is really easy, even one handed. It really is worth the effort to try it at least you may surprise yourself, i did lol

Well, I finally got my “Vapor King Ultimate Shorty Kit” from Vapor4Life today --- eight business days from my order. First, a pleasant surprise: I initially ordered 18mg cartridges and then e-mailed V4L to ask that they be changed to 11mg. Mark e-mailed me back that he had changed the order, and then kindly enclosed an extra box of 18mg cartridges in my order. Very nice.

I quickly attached an 11mg cartomizer onto the battery and hesitantly drew a mouthful of vapour. Wow. It tasted funny and made me cough. So I had an analog instead. After a while, I tried to vape again. Still tasted funny, but I didn’t cough this time. In the past few hours, I’ve alternated between vapeing and smoking. I quite like the “substance” of the vapour, but bleghh, the vapour tastes worse and worse with each draw. Now, the analog doesn’t taste so great, either, but it’s still better than the vapour.

I’m not sure whether it’s the difference in taste between U.S. and Canadian tobacco flavours (I’m smoking Canadian Rothman’s Red and vapeing U.S. “Kamel”), or if I just don’t happen to like the tobacco-flavoured juice. I’m not ready to give up yet, and am already thinking I should order some unflavoured cartridges.**

Regardless, I’m glad I ordered cartomizers rather than trying to fill little cartridges while I’m learning this stuff.

Anyway, just wanted to post to follow up on my previous “newbie angst”. Thanks for “listening”! :)

Hey Port!

It very well be that you aren't into tobacco flavors, or just haven't found the right flavor.

I have a basket full of partially vaped MBORO, COWBOY, HILTON, VIRGINIA and every other kind of tobacco flavored cart and liquid known to man.

The Kamels were the most UNLIKE the others, however I have moved to the more subtle tobacco-like flavors, like 555.

Anyhow, don't be discouraged. Once you find your flavor and strength, you are going to be amazed at how much better it is.
