I have been casually using e-cigs for a few weeks now, and now that I've got the information and experience, I've cut my smoking in half and have found I prefer using my e-cigs. I think I'm ready to take the plunge and actually quit smoking. I've tried many times with various NRT's. I always said I'd quit by 30 - and I turned 30 last month. October 1st is my quit date.

Just a quick hello and most importantly a thank you to everyone here for having a place for people to go for real information. It's such a huge industry and with so many different components to choose from it can be overwhelming. I haven't settled in with a brand yet - really still shopping around.

I can't wait to share my experience as I go along and look forward to getting to know you all better!

Welcome VegasGirl and you have come to the right place. I am a little over three weeks in and I never knew quitting analogs would be this easy. You will find a wealth of information here, so much at times, it is easy to get overwhelmed. Sit back, vape a while, and when you find what works for you, you will know it. One of the problems is there are so many things out there, and so many different opinions, some costly and some not so much...but there are a great bunch of people here who will help you along the way.

Welcome and congrats!

Don't be too hard on yourself in approaching this. This is like no other way to quit and there are no rules to how you do it. Some people can and do that "I picked up a PV for the first time and never touched a cigarette again!" routine. Some folks - like me - did a slower transition, finding the more they liked vaping the less they liked cigarettes. The quitting followed a natural, progressive transition from there. The most important thing is having a commitment to quit. You will figure out your own end game from there.

Best of luck. This works! All that other stuff you tried? Yeah - me too. Lot's. Never happened.

As everyone mentioned, don't get to hard on yourself in the beginning. It's normal to still have a cigarette or two when transitioning. My biggest suggestion is to find a great vape early. Look at information in this forum for finding good beginner equipment. Also, check and see if you have brick and mortar store in your area that sells what you need. I find it handy if I forget to order something online. If you don't, make sure to plan ahead. Nothing makes you backtrack like forgetting to order something in time and giving into picking up a pack at the gas station.

Welcome and good luck to you!

Every cigarette avoided is a win. I think it's very important to keep that in mind if it's hard for you to quit altogether in a day. As Rickajho said, there's no rules and it will happen when it's ready to happen. Commitment, a setup that works well for you, and a few juices that you love is all it should take.

I won't get into the whole hardware recommendation thing as I haven't tried a lot of different PVs but I will tell you there are several reputable vendors that sell sample bottles of their juices. I recommend trying as many as you can stand. It seems searching for the right juices is the hardest part IMHO.

You came to the right place for tons of advice and help with any questions you may have.

Welcome to ECF , neighbor . There are several vendors for juice and devices , right here in Vegas . And if you have any questions , or have any other needs , just ask . Jake ( AKA ) Vegas Vaporzs , is also located here , and is very knowledgeable about devices as well . So throw out the stinky's and get to vaping full time . And as an update to my original post . I have more than a few of the current devices out there . If you want to try something out before you buy one , just Pm me . I have GG's , Reo's , a Lambo , Vmax , Sabertouch VV , Smok Tek telescoping , as well as all sorts of Ego's , Twists and even a Kgo VV . So if you have any interest in any of those , let me know .

Hello VegasV! I also transitioned for a few weeks before I quit altogether. I stopped smoking in the car and house and found when I went outside to have the analog, I actually preferred the taste of my pv. I was also enjoying my environments more without the stench. I am not very far in at all, but I will be 11 days completely analog free in two hours. I have tried several things to stop but I can completely and wholeheartedly say that this has been the easiest and most enjoyable method. I'm thinking the first few days are the hardest so I can't wait to see what happens along this journey. Good luck to you!

Thank you all so much! It's funny, as soon as I decided to quit and gave myself a date, I'm suddenly back up to a pack a day. It's like my brain KNOWS!!

Still shopping around. I've tried a couple brands that friends have, but I'm really going to make sure that I find the best quality for the lowest price. Some of these starter kits out there are ridiculous. These people must be making a fortune!

Thanks again for the support. I can't believe how many people are here already. DOWN WITH ANALOGS!!

I also got those 'panic attacks' whenever I would get close to my quit date. I smoked 1ppd for 22 years, and must have quit two dozen times. Sometimes I would last for two days, sometimes for a month. One time I quit for two years, but I was miserable the whole time.

Been vaping for a week, and once I really got going, throwing that 3/4-full pack in the trash was like nothing at all. Keep up the good work! Once you get a setup you like, I think it will be an easy decision for you.
