Modification, eliquid in my opinion, screw driver is a version of a ecig, yes, it seems many of us do, depends on what you want to spend.
:)
I just ordered a disposable kit for like $17 with shipping from the vapor guys, while I haven't received it yet- I think that is the perfect inexpensive way to try this out before investing money. I read that they do indeed work for five days- so maybe go that route until you know this if for you?
As for the best place to buy, I read tons and tons of reviews and looked at sites until my eyes bled...I went with the cheap site first, have found not much difference in that one compared to pricey ones. I prefer the 901, maybe because it was my first PV and we never forget our first.

I am new to the e cig but have already smoked my last conventional ciggarette. Having given up "quitting" not so long ago- I am happy to find a healthier alternative that works great and gives me guilt free enjoyment. I am looking forward to learning more about it and finding out which are the better, more satisfying products, but I am doing fine with what I think is a "mini" cigarette setup right now. The batteries are in a constant state of charge and many times the cartridges don't last as long as I like, but I am going to make it work, this alternative is something that I personally have been waiting for a long time. :)

For those of you with questions have a look at this thread first - http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ed-comprehensive-intro-vaping.html#post138671

If you can't find answers to your questions then the best thing to do is to start a new thread, not many get answered on this one.

The question about cats and vaping might be answered on one of these threads - e-cigarette-forum.com • The place for electronic cigarette reviews, news and chat - Threads Tagged with cats Basically, my understanding is that propylene glycol can cause Heinz Bodies in cats but I don't know how much they'd need to be exposed to.

Don't forget that everything on the internet is 100% true and watch out for icebergs :)

Some advantages to e-cigs...

1. You can take two puffs and put the thing in your pocket for later.

2. You can set it down anywhere without starting a fire.

3. You can accidentally put it in your mouth wrong side in and live to tell about it.

4. It will give you hours of fun, figuring out how to fill carts and care for the atomizers and charging batteries. A new hobby.

One thing I've learned is that if you think the cart has enough juice, but you can't get vapor, the cart needs juice!

I just got the litecigusa VX2 and it works great. Long battery life, lots of vapor. I got a starter kit from Smokestik first, because I didn't know about this website. Now, I know that it was a rookie mistake. Anyhow, I have two sets of pvs and I am very happy with my new hobby.

I'm also going to put in a good word for the VX2. It's basically the new, improved version of the 901. The thing goes head to head with a manual battery 510 as to throat hit and vapor. The draw is slightly easier as well. I highly recommend a VX2 as a perfect first kit for someone new to vaping!! Plus, Shawn at http://litecigusa.com/ is one of the good guys in the business. He is on my short list of suppliers I use on a regular basis...

Gee, took me a while to figure out why I couldn't post my self intro thread.

But anyway, Hi, name's west, I've never smoked a tobacco product and am not looking to get into e-smoking (myself); I found out about e-smoking from my girlfriends brother, who's been e-smoking and analog-free since. This event lead me to find a supplier and buy a starter kit for my dad (who's been smoking well over a decade) to try and get him to adopt this alternative as I did quite and extensive amount of research on the issue. The more I looked the more I found all the benefits, all the devices, all the liquids, all the politcal and sociological drama (vaping in public).... these things have seem to have the makeup of real life sitcom.

Though I'm not interested in e-smoking myself, I am interested in the DIY and mods a lot of the people have posted on here are of interest; I love to tinker.

I'm a new member who did not intend to quit smoking but rather kind of fell into the e-cig thing by trying to find something other than the chew, nic gum, etc to get me through long shifts behind the bar. I happened to notice a regular customer sucking on something with a blue led light and then exhaling what appeared to be smoke. I asked him about it and he showed it to me and gave me a drag. I knew instantly that this device was the answer. Once my e-cig arrived and was charged up ,I put it to the test the next night. It worked great! Not one cigarette for 8 hours. After shift I lit a smoke and to my surprise was kind of disgusted. Hit it a few more times and that was my last cig. It's been since early April and I feel great. It has since become a hobby of sorts with the addition of another type of e-cig and an assortment of liquids.

Hello I'm Joanna

1, We have 4 undisciplined cats. What safety issues do I need to be aware of as far as PG, nicotine and cats? (signs of allergy and/or overdose) This is problematic for us because we have one cat who enjoys smoking with my husband (She will go out of her way to inhale second hand smoke. No we don't let her have cigarettes.), And another cat that will lick/eat almost anything. Any help or advice?

2, Any links in regard to eliquid/vapor and cats?

3, Should I boil my atomisers on arrival to avoid primer taste or are there better methods? Having no idea what he's going to taste and little experience with this equipment I'd like to give him the best shot of sticking with this.

4, He's hesitant to try fruit or candy flavor due to a bad mini cigar incident. aside from dedicating an atomizer to certain flavors what can I do to make this a happy alternative to analogs for him?

5, Which flavors need a dedicated atomizer?

Joanna,

The safest bet with your cats is to treat/store the juice as if it was what it could be to them, poison. Anything short of that is just taking chances that aren't worth taking.

As for the cross-contamination of flavors, I regularly top-off, and as long as I stay within the same relative family of flavors, I notice nothing at all. I prefer the Vanilla/Chocolate/Coffee with some Strawberry. Some are more sensitive than others, but I've never smoked through a couple of top-offs and ever been able to notice the previous flavor.

I'm no expert, but I certainly wouldn't boil the atomizer. I've never noticed any taste, and I'm sure it would burn through quickly. The only "odd" taste I ever noticed was from a model that had a combination cart/atomizer, and the only way I could describe what their "default" taste was like would be smoking stale non-dairy creamer. Blech.

That's my $.02 as another relative noob.

Hi, Folks, Lamar in Georgia. I'm coming from 31 years of smoking up to four packs per day in the last year and a half. I've tried numerous times to stop. The patches gave me a rash. The chewing gum gave me tempo-mandibular joint disease. Chantix made me pukey and gave me strange dreams. The lozenges work fine, but they're only markers delaying the next cigarette. I've recently gotten a job as an editor where I have to concentrate for extended periods behind a monitor, and I've been smoking .... to .... and hating every minute of it.

I had read about ecigarettes somewhere, so I searched Google for "ecigarette review" and started reading, much of that led to reviews here and on YouTube. I selected a certain well-known product and ordered a starter kit. I specified a little faster shipping, and I waited... Finally, I called to check on the status of my order and was told that the product was temporarily out of stock. I asked if they intended to notify me of this, and they had no answer. I exercised the "Cancel this order" option. (I do wish websites would stop selling crap they don't have. This is becoming endemic.)

So back to reading reviews, and I read about vaporcig.com and the Vapor 1000. I wrote to ask if they actually were in stock, and Deana at vaporcig answered prompty. I ordered the starter kit for $99 and it was shipped the same day by priority mail. I got two emails from them - one verifying the order and one saying that the product had shipped.

The packaging was nice. It included a manual, a photocopied adendum with some yellow highlighting, two vaporizers, two batteries, and a charger. The instructions advised charging the battery for five hours for the first run. The initial pre-charge in the battery lasted for about 30 minutes. The atomizer had some juice on it, so I tried a puff without the cartridge. It wasn't bad, but it was a LOT better after I added the cartridge. So I smoked, read the instructions, and watched the charger.

That was on Friday.

On Saturday, I changed batteries and got with the vaping. I went outside with the PV atomizer down (to avoid losing the juice) in my shirt pocket, but when I came back inside, something went wrong. I placed the Vapor 1000 on my desk. When I went to pick it up, it was too hot to touch. I quickly unscrewed it and set it aside to cool.

I wondered if it had gone through the "cleaning cycle" that the manual talked about. I wondered this while I assembled the second Vapor 1000 with the other battery. It worked and I did some vaping.

Until that unit failed in the same manner. That was on Sunday. It got hot and quit making vapor.

On Monday, I called and talked to Deana in California again. We tried some things, like wetting the atomizer, blowing through it, etc. When puffed, the LED on each light would light, but neither would provide vapor. When plugged into the charger, the charger light would stay green instead of charging the battery.

Unsure of exactly what the problem was, Deana sent me two atomizers, a new charger, and a new battery. The parts arrived on Thursday.

Since then I've figured out that what happened is that the internal switch in the batteries shorted out without affecting the logic circuit.

The new battery worked fine, and at last I had my very own PV. The bad batteries and the charger (which might be fine, but I was taking no chances) went back to California.

And the thought occurred to me that if I were really going to switch from analogs to vaping, I need some redundancy. So I ordered another starter kit, and it came with two Vapor 1000s.

So now I have three that work. Vaporcig owes me one battery, and then I'll four working Vaporcigs. Deana has been absolutely great to work with. The company does what they promise, and they get your stuff out FAST.

So here I am, vaping like a lunatic with an occasional analog thrown in, usually when I'm sucking up a beer. When this current pack ends (it's about four days old now), I'm going to switch to my ecigs completely.

And what about the juice? Vaporcig lets you choose your flavor and intensity. I tried Marlboro "high" first. It was sort of like a Marlboro taste, but only really noticeable upon exhalation, so I think it's more the aroma than the taste that imitates the flavor. Next, I tried cherry high. This eliquid is a little more dense, even slightly syrupy, and the flavor is very evident upon inhaling. Oddly, the flavor and aroma are more intense when being vaporized than it is in the bottle. (The tobacco juice is the opposite - it smells strong in the bottle, but it's weak in the ecig.)

So that's the story of me and the Vapor 1000. Thank you all for the depth of information and discussion taking place on this forum, and thank you for your welcoming attitudes. I think I'm going to like it here.

:pHello All, Wow, where do I begin. I have been smoking for over thirty years. and I absolutely love smoking cigaretts. However, I need to quit. Every time I see my doctor for what ever reason, the first thing she asks me is if I am still smoking. She then makes me feel guilty about my habbit and advises me of the health risks, like I am not aware of them. My dentist says that my smoking is effecting my gums and staining my teeth. He looks at me like I am a criminal. My wife has high blood presure and takes medication daily for it. Her doctor has been telling her for years that she needs to quit. She has cut down to only a couple a day. I attend my church regularly, and love being around my church family. I want to become more envolved in my church, but have avoided this for years because I am always afraid that I smell like smoke, or have smokers breath, despite sucking on an tic-tac. Smoking is not looked upon favorably in my church.

The thing is that I Love Smoking, and especially enjoy the sight of a lady smoking. I have a smoking fetish. I can't imagine not beeing able to look over at my wife after dinner, and see all of the creamy white smoke parting her lips. However, reality is slapping me in the face, and we both need to quit. We both agree that we want to be able to enjoy our grand kids one day. I am so glad our son has not started smoking. Throughout his childhood, we always went outside to smoke when he was home, and never smoked in front of him.

Last week, whyle looking at stuff on Youtube, I came across a video from Bloog. I could not believe what I saw. I was blown away. I went to their website, and before I knew it, I bought my first E-Cig. Two days later, after showing my wife what I had seen on Youtube, I bought one for her as well. We have not received them yet, the scheduled delivery date is this friday. I can't wait. I have high expectations, and I hope that theses e-cigs live up to what I have read about them on the net.

I would like to know if the vapor is as thick as smoke from a cig? Some of the videos I have seen show a lot of volume, but some show just a little. I would imagine that the harder you draw, the thicker the vapor. At least, I hope so. Will I need to puff a couple of times to get the device working well, or can I just puff and enhale like a regular cig? Also, what about liquids? By using them, will they help increase the volume of vapor? Also, when I use my e-cig first thing in the mornig, will I get that headrush, like I do from a real cig. I just want to know, how close to the real thing it is? Why are some people still smoking cigs? Will my E-cig satisfy my cravings for a smoke? I thank you all, and hope to become a non-smoker (Cigs) real soon.

72hrs. First Impressions.

I recently received my orders for 2 different e-cigarette starter kits & some various e-juices. So I thought I'd share my initial impressions thus far.

People used to ask me all the time why I still smoked, "I'm not a quitter!" I'd respond. That got a few laughs but it grew old real quick. And with the realities of the Smoking Ban throughout the country as well as the world. Coupled with the cost of analogs here in NY(close to $10 after taxes) and certainly topped off, with the emotional guilt trips from loved ones around me. I knew it was time to kick the habit.

Thus, my transition from analogs to e-cigarettes started. My plan of action is to basically lower the dosage of nicotine intake as I slowly come to a complete halt.

M401(Red Edition) via DietSmokes.com, DietSmokes was the source for my very first e-cigarette starter kit purchase. I am very pleased with the M401 model and have enjoyed using it thoroughly. My order came with various cartridges with the tobacco flavor(High, Medium, Low, & None). The charging time for the M401 seems/feels a lot shorter than the 510 model. Below are some pros & cons with the M401(from my own observations).

Pros'

  • Possibly shorter charge time.
  • Very smooth draw of vapors.
  • Cut-off doesn't appear too quickly.
  • Length-wise, I'd compare it to an analog(100s' size)
Cons'

  • Appears to require charging more frequently(then the 510)
  • IMHO primer seems to take longer to burn off
  • Starter Kit, comes with only 1 atomizer
  • Starter Kit, no options for cartridge e-juice selection
Overall, I'm still pretty happy with my purchase. I enjoy alternating the M401 with the 510 for different flavors and nicotine(mg) levels.

Titan TECC 510 via TotallyWicked-Eliquid.com, I'm very satisfied with the Titan, if I had to compare. I'd say I'm spending just slightly more time on the Titan than I am with the M401(just slightly!). The charge time is a tad long though. As I understand it, to fully charge the 510 it takes 7-8hrs. Here's some of my own perceptions of the pros' & cons' for the Titan.

Pros'

  • Draw is very smooth(comparable to a regular cigarette, if not smoother)
  • It may be just me, but I can actually hear the atomizer(or perhaps some pre-installed sound effects)
  • Manual batteries do not have cut-offs(big advantage for those who want to suck in more vapor, probably not too good for the lifespan of the atomizer, though)
  • Slightly larger draw of vapor(compared to the M401)
  • The bigger the size, the easier to drip e-juices into the cartridge.
  • Starter Kit came with two atomizers
Cons'

  • Slightly costlier than the M401
  • Slightly thicker than your average cigarette
  • Longer charging time(IMHO)
All-in-all, I've found both to have their advantages and weakness. But I'm happy using either/both. I was considering the purchase of a penstyle e-cigarette but at this point, I see no reason to.

As for e-juices & flavored cartridges.

Certainly everyone has their own preferrences so my taste may not mesh with others. I've found that I very much dislike any of the default tobacco flavored cartridges that came with either starter kits. If anyone enjoys them, I may consider posting in the "Classifieds" section for a swap.

I had ordered 5 cartridges of Apple(high mg), 5 cartridges of Mint(high mg), and 5 cartridges of Mint(none mg) from DietSmokes.com, most of which I have not really been enjoying. Apple is probably not something I'd try again...ever.

TotallyWicked-Eliquid.com's Pillbox38 Menthol(0mg) 30ml.
Has been great! I'm loving this stuff and have been alternating it with...

eSmokershop.com's "Rad Bull"(low mg) 10ml
I had ordered 3 different flavors from eSmokershop.com but thus far, I've only started to try the "Rad Bull" and since then I've not bothered with trying the others just yet. It's quite an enjoyable flavor! Though, I haven't seen too many reviews of people trying/enjoying the "Rad Bull" flavors from various places. All I can say is, I'm hooked! eSmokershop's "Rad Bull" is probably something I wouldn't mind buying in 30ml. bottles.

Perhaps at a later time, I will try to compare the Menthol flavor from Twisted with eSmokershop.

Epilogue

As with many others who've transitioned from analogs to e-cigarettes. The learning curve was slightly different/difficult than what I had expected. It took some getting used to, I had one or two analogs in between use of the e-cigarettes. I also experienced the dreaded taste of primer from the atomizer(let's just say it's not very pleasant). But overall, I can definitely see myself using strictly the e-cigarettes. I'm also looking forward to trying out various e-juices. I wish that I had followed more closely with the suggestion of getting/using e-juice rather than pre-filled cartridges. In a way, I kind of regret buying the pre-filled cartridges because it would've been better spent on empty ones in which I'd fill my own cartridges with better flavors.

A quick thank you to this forum, really glad to have read some reviews, experiences and growing knowledge of the e-cigarette community.

Hi there. I'm writing from Australia. I've never joined a forum before but felt the need to join the e-cigarette forum after reading all your informative posts. I've been vaping since Feb. and haven't had a ciggie for over a week. I've purchased 2 e-cigs from UK. I was given a Gamucci Classic as a gift and have been hooked ever since. I bought one of those mini's to find the vapour only lasted about 15minutes (it could be because I inhaled too deeply). I've just purchased a Janty Dura Kit which I've found most effective. I must admit there are so many out I was a tad confused if I've made the right choice.

Howard, GREAT review, thanks. I just received my 510 and haven't even charged it up yet. Looking forward to doing so. All I've been using the last 12 days is my RN4081 (Super e-cig).

I really have no complaints with the RN4081 because I haven't any comparison yet.

I've got an 801 coming in the mail. Should be interesting going back and forth and deciding the pros and cons.

Well, I stumbled on this forum in a most unusual way. A couple weeks ago I was on a smoke break at work and this outside vendor whips out this strange looking cigarette. Puts it in his mouth, takes a drag, and smoke appeared. I thought he was Houdini or something, since I never saw a lighter or matches. Needless to say, I was quite intrigued and spent the next 10 minutes pestering the poor guy for all the info he could give me. I went home that night and told my wife that I had to have an "electric weed". She looked at me like I'd lost my mind (even though she knows it's been gone for years).

So after a quick visit to my best friend Google, I discovered this forum. I've been scouring these threads for a week now, and I don't even think I've scratched the surface. The wealth of information here is phenomenal. Thanks everybody for posting so much honest information.

I made my first e-cig purchase on Saturday night, and am waiting patiently for my items to arrive. Actually, I'm not doing so well in the patience department. I'm quite excited to join the vaping masses.

Been a pack-a-day smoker for 20 years now, with one 3 month hiatus a few years ago. Really enjoy the physical act of smoking, don't really enjoy the health risks, smell, cost, etc. Hoping this will be the key for me to kick the coffin nails for good.

Hope to get to know y'all on here.

Jeff

Thanks Cyberwolf, that does help. I was just getting concerned that I was going to have to buy a new kit every few weeks, and I just can't afford that. From what I read, most like the DSE901 and I think I am going to give that a try. Thanks again!

I think that's a good choice. I have a RN4081, M401 and a couple of DSE901s, and the 901s are what I'm using most. I certainly haven't tried them all, though. I have bought them from esmokershop and bestecig with good results.
