I'm not sure I see that report as "outstanding" as Brad does.

The comment, "they’re smokeless and spitless, and that’s trying to take away the social stigma of smokeless tobacco products of the past” may be accurate, but the way it's said is like the tobacco companies are being pathetically sneaky in some way. And he says there would have been nothing to prevent kids from buying these products, when that is simply untrue. They are considered tobacco by the federal government and that already made them illegal to sell to minors.

To me, the overall message one got from the report was that "these products are just as dangerous as cigarettes and kids need to be protected from them, so kudos to the antis for "protecting" us from these dangerous products about to invade our state."

Had they explained WHY the products are innovative and their health risks compared to smoking, then THAT would have been telling the WHOLE truth.

Telling the truth about the relative safety of smoke-free alternatives when compared to smoking could save millions of lives. The Royal College of Physicians estimates that “… the consumption of non-combustible tobacco is of the order of 10–1,000 times less hazardous than smoking, depending on the product.” Researchers have found little difference in life expectancy between Swedish smokers who switch to snus and smokers who quit all forms of tobacco use. One survey found that 79% of e-cigarette consumers are using them as a complete replacement for smoking, and over 90% are reporting better lung function. All smoke-free alternatives, including the latest products, can serve as a tool to achieve smoking abstinence. Many are significantly more effective than the recommended nicotine cessation products.

It is visible. Let's see if this one lasts.
