actually there's supposed to be a way using ultrasound

ive never actually looked into how humidifiers work but i always assumed thats the way they vaporized the water. they have that little metal disk and the water jumps around like crazy. only downside would be there would be next to no heat so if you liked a warm to hot vape youd be out of luck

sorry I wasn't referring to how the humidifiers work; I was referring to a patented design for an ecig using ultrasound as the method of vaporization; I've read about that a couple time here on this forum.

Is that the one supposed to hit the market during the next few months for the past couple of years?
I think you may be thinking of the TA-EW Nebulizer. Had to think reeal hard to remember that name. Better be the one. :D

I believe the very first e-cigarette design, many years ago, used an ultrasonic vaporizer. Developed in the US, but wasn't a success.

The concept of an electronic cigarette dates back at least to 1963, when Herbert Gilbert filed for and was later granted U.S. Patent No. 3,200,819. The specification of Gilbert’s patent described the device as “a smokeless nontobacco cigarette” that was intended “to provide a safe and harmless means for and method of smoking by replacing burning tobacco and paper with heated, moist, flavored air.” Despite his efforts, Gilbert’s device was never manufactured.

OOPS! Gilbert's design wasn't the one that used ultrasonics, it was Hon Lik's first design, in 2004 or so.

I was wondering about a dripper tank tha incorporated a 2mm or so voltage controlled "hot plate" instead of a coil and used cotton pellets that could be changed as needed for different flavors or just to freshen up the vape. Other than that, maybe a voltage controlled laser diode as a heat source. I personally think that either is possible with the right engineering. "I'm just sayin" :2c:

they already have the "hotplate" its called vapin donuts
and lasers are woefully poor in energy transfer.... and we have a tuff enuf problem with people already poppin batteries... imagine someone opening up a 2+W laser and looking into the heating chamber....
