First hello. I'm from vegas, I've been vaping for about a month now. stopped smoking the day i started vaping and haven't smoked since. The smell actually sickens me now honestly.

So I screwed up when I started with all of this. Instead of doing my research (i did try but there's SOO much out there it just overwhelmed me.) I walked into one of the local brick and mortar stores and asked them for their opinion. Won't name them or anything, but I ended up putting down about 120 dollars for an itazte vv v3 kit and 2 10 mL bottles of e juice. I did not realize until i got home and looked up what i ended up getting, mostly for use instructions, to see what i shouldn't do and all that, and found out just about everywhere else the same kit is around 75 bucks. I made the same mistake again when i got my protank 2 at another store. Paid full price and I'm pretty sure a dollar extra on top of tax (why, i don't know) only to get home and realize that the packaging had already been opened, I take the box out and to my surprise there are no coils, and the washer from the base of the tank was missing. Was completely my fault, i shouldn't have assumed he wanted my future business.

Anyway, now that my life story is out of the way.. I've been getting even more upset looking around the net with a much greater understanding of what I'm dealing with and seeing all the great stuff i could have gotten for my money.

So I want to upgrade. I've been looking at vv/vw mods around the price range of the vamo v.5 like the sid and the z max.. I'd like a better battery life, and maybe something a little more powerful than this itaste vv/v.3... I won't hate on it, it's gotten me to quit, and it does well, but it has a hard time making it through a day of work without having to plug it into my portable usb battery charger. So i was just wanting to get some opinions on which one of these middle of the road vv/vw mods are the most durrable, or the best value, or whatnot.

I would also like to get into the world of rebuildables. I have been mixing my own ejuice and would love to have a good rda to test it with, not to mention i'm just so intrigued by it all. so I was wondering what you all would say would be the best option for someone just starting with rebuildables, who doesn't want to drop an arm and a leg but doesn't want to go to fastech either.

thank you to anyone who bares with this post and can help me out. I really don't want to feel Like i've partially wasted money again, it was such a dissappointing thing to have 2 seperate stores seem to cheat me. I'd like to wash that taste out of my mouth with something satisfying.

Hey, and welcome to the forum. I can't answer your technical questions about upgrading, because I'm still new myself, but there are lots of folks here with the knowledge to help you out.

And wanted to tell you not to feel too bad about your initial expense. Many of us did the same thing when we walked into our local stores and wanted to get started vaping. I paid more than I should have for a starter set up, too. I look at it this way - it got me started vaping and stopped me smoking. Looks like it worked that way for you, so I think it was worth it in that respect.

Honestly Paying for something even if too much is a good win, You quit the habit and thats part of the adventure. Don't feel bad about it, I got ripped off on my first purchase like said above, but in the end it's all worth it, and worth a good laugh or two :p

As far as your upgrading goes. Most of the VV/VW devices that take 18xxx batteries have the same battery life depending on size of the battery and how much you vape it. My SVD with a fully charged 18650 battery can last my two days maybe a little more. Depending on what style you want, The Innokin MVP 2.0 has a built in 2600mAh battery that lasts 2-3 days depending on vape as well. I Recently got back from my Local B&M getting juices and they have the Innokin MVP 2.0 and it's fairly small sized mod for the punch it packs. Theres also another box style mod from Innokin that takes 18650 batteries which lasts a good while and allows a wider range of VV and VW. Also isn't that big compared to videos/pictures seen on the net. Both are quite durable from what reviews say and will perform and last you a while, The mvp however has the ability to charge cell phones and other stuff with a little port it has I believe.

Tube mods if that is what you want are also depending on what you like, say telescopic or just changing out tubes to fit your desired battery. My SVD is telescopic and provides all the VV/VW ohms checker, battery level and has a locking feature so when you throw it in your pocket or in a bag it won't change the settings while your moving around accidentally. The Vamo has had reviews of poor threads and is fragile to be dropped. Not bashing anything just repeating what I've read before. The Zmax and SID I have no experiance with but Im certain someone will be around to help answer your questions.

For RDA's Something in the IGO category would be good, Honestly any RDA with Three posts will get you along for starters until you feel comfy going up the ladder. the IGO L or W, Patriot, I personally have a nimbus and it performs perfect. When it comes to RDA's and VV/VW, The mods have a Ohms limit that won't let you fire below a certain level. The Vamo doesn't go below 1.2 while my svd has fired a .9 coil that i had on my nimbus before. Just another thing to read up on. However if your just into the RDA's for flavor, You would generally stay around the 1.5 area anyway which wouldn't affect using a mod at all.

Have a look around and see what fits your criteria, Whats good for me might not be good for you. Ebay has been my friend for a while and I can find deals there or on other sites. Don't forget to price check everything on the net, theres always a better deal around the corner on the internet. If your going to do RDA's I would consider using cotton as it's great for flavor, Easy to swap out to change flavors and buying a big bag of Organic cotton balls will last you FOREVER. Use some 28 gauge kanthal A1 so you can have a good range of wraps and ohms to choose from.

Anything else? I can't think of anything else Lol

EDIT -- Definitely give a go at rebuilding your protank before the RDAs. That will give you a good idea on rebuilding and it gets pretty fun an easy to do after a couple tries. Plus having to rebuild the PT2 with the little room you have will give you good experiance at wrapping tight coils and placement etc.

Youtube is your best friend, this forum is your best friend and always check reviews of products before you click the button Lol

wow. thank you guys so much. It does make me feel not as dumb to know that I'm not the only one to end up overpaying my first time out, but at the same time it's sad to see that I'm not the only one. I've found such friendly help and advice on the internet from people that truly care about helping others stop smoking and enjoy vaping, and I really kind of expected (maybe hoped for would be the right way to put it) the same thing in a store only face to face..

I have been looking at the mvp2 and the VTR (i believe the other box mod you mentioned) The vtr looks cool, but i don't know what i think of that recessed connection thing.. The MVP v2 seems to be more or less a longer lasting box mod version of the vv v.3 that i have now..

I hadn't really looked at the svd... I can't believe I'm saying this, but would you recommend buying one from fasttech? The prices seem so all over the place on various sites i'm going to to look.. I know fasttech is notorious for knockoff stuff, but 37 dollars is hard to just ignore if it's authentic. They also seem to have some good deals on ebay... not as good as fasttech though if they're actually innokin svd's. would you consider it rude of me to ask how much you paid for yours?

I have been considering trying to rebuild my protank, just been a little weary of trying to start with such a small area, but I think you may be right, starting small could make things feel easier later on. I think i'm going to pick up some kanthal with whatever mod i pick and some organic cotton balls from the store.

Thank you again. You tube has been great, grimgreen, pbusardo, riptripper.. their videos have helped me understand loads more about what I'm doing than i did a month ago. So far this place seems pretty awesome too.
