I have my list of Canadian vendors and will be making my decision on which vendor to use, based on my needs, after some phone calls after this post. I started smoking a year ago at Easter and I want to switch to an e-cig (with nic at first) and then wean myself off of the nic. I do want to continue with the "actions" of smoking because I like it, so my plan is to switch to non-nic by the end of this month. My doctor has given me a thumbs up for quitting this way, although he didn't know much about e-cigs.

I am quite excited!! I'm open to suggestions and PMs and encouragement of course :)

Congrats on the decision to quit. Its good you're making the switch fairly early. If you haven't decided on a kit already id highly suggest a fat batt (ego, kgo, riva, etc) something with more than 600mAh batteries. That will let you use low resistance gear later for more, warmer vapor. And you won't be switching batteries every other hour. Good luck and spend lots of time here! The support is one of the most important things in the journey

I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.

You will find a world of support and advice available here. Don't be shy to visit and use it often. I have confidence that you will never look back once you get vaping. I stopped smoking the instant I took a drag off my first PV.

Welcome to your new, smoke free life! :D

Hey, congratulations on your decision to give up the evil analogs! If you WANT to quite, you will be able to do it. And with the e-cig, it will definitely help you. I for one was a heavy smoker (VERY heavy!) and almost always had a smoke in my hand. When I decided to quite, and bought my first e-cig, as soon as the battery was charged and I took my first vape, I never looked back! The nice thing about the e-cig is it mimics so much of what smokers really smoke for. The taste, throat hit, and nic hit. The e-cig emulates all those quite nicely without the nasty analog chemicals.

And like everybody else has said before, and will continue to tell you, is that we are all here for you, and cheering you on!

congrats on your decision bro, i was in the same boat as you, to start you off i would also encourage you to get an ego, kgo, riva and other ones similar with a built in battery. and try to get a low resistance atomizer or cartomiser but make sure your battery is rated 600 mah or higher :D pretty much like inani said (1st comment)
grats again!

Welcome and congratulations on a smart move. I would suggest any ego type battery (manual) with 510 threads. Almost everything available in the E cig world will fit 510 threads. Also be aware that you may get dry or sore throat to start so drink lots of water. Do not get upset if the juice you order is not what you thought it would be. A lot of us have bottles that are not what we wanted. Remember it is not like dragging on a smoke. You will get the hang of it.
Good Luck Drac

I have heard back from both vendors now and have decided which one to get my kit from (nothing bad from either vendor, btw). Since I am considered a light smoker, the recommendation would be to, "start with a 510 kit - and manual, not automatic. Both are reasonably small units and work quite well. You'll get medium vapor and the kits are easy to work with, stylish and compact."

If you've only been smoking a year, my advice is to just quit, don't replace it with anything! Now is your big chance, trust me. I'm not being facetious just frank. Do it :))

I agree with Munson. Only one year on analogs = cold turkey quit. But do whatever it takes to get off tobacco.

I know that I could quit cold turkey, but that's not my "real" addiction. I like the act of smoking. It's like a break for me where I go outside, sit out on the patio and have 7 minutes all to myself. I like puffing and exhaling on my ciggy.

I have already placed my order with Electro Vapors and am getting myself a 510 manual that they are custom building for me right now. Their flavours were on sale, so I picked up Marlyboro, Cappuccino and Caramel. I was tempted by the Watermelon one, but thought it might be too exotic for me as a first-timer.

Hey There,

Best of luck with the quitting, I think you'll find the e-cigs help quite a bit. If you are really lost, I started writing an e-cig primer for Canadians that I think should help you make your first decision. It has a glossary and links to everything you need. I would appreciate some feedback if you decide to check it out. There is a link to it in my signature.

In any case, good luck. See you around!

Right on Rttch for taking that first step to cleaner lungs! I've been vaping for just over a month and I started with the crappiest of crap slim batteries. So IMO your decision to go with the 510 was a good one. You'll be able to mix and match accessories as you become more familiar with the products available. As someone had mentioned about the fact that you may not like the first juices that you ordered, I agree. Shop around, try some different vendors to see what works for you. There's a sticky thread at the beginning of the Canada Forums page where you can get a list of all Canadian Vendors. Welcome!
