Hi there People
Im going to purchase some Nic to mix myself, i dont what to get. Freebase nic or Nic salts. I currently purchase my juice pre mixed at 8mg, but not sure which nic it is.
Im using a freemax mesh pro sub ohm device.
Appreciate any advise.
Thanks
Hi D,
Where are you located?
IF it was a nicotine salt juice, it would be marketed as such.
You may use either freebase OR salts at 8mg/ml in your Freemax tank.

Cheers

If you are buying pre-made and it does not specifically say it is salts then it is freebase. If you like the throat hit of your current juice then order freebase. If you want less throat hit, then get salts. Either will work with your gear and both are fine at 8mg/ml.

I was once told that nic salts mess a bit with juice flavour on the negative side of things. Is that true? That it's better for MTL vapes and not to bother if you DTL?

I don’t think so. I make the same recipes with both, and they taste the same to me.

I also don’t see a lot of difference in TH at lower levels, only maybe around 12 mg and up is there a noticeable reduction with the salts.

I will add this, although anecdotal, freebase seems to stay in the system longer than salts. I think it’s good when I really need a quick blast, but I find myself needing to vape more frequently. Ymmv.

I agree with DeloresRose - it probably doesn't matter much at 6-12mg. Nic salts got popular with the explosion of pod mods, which are used at much higher nic levels, up to 50mg. Freebase nic would be very harsh on your throat at that level, while nic salts are smoother and more tolerable.

I mix my 6mg juice with both and can't tell any difference in taste or throat hit.

Welcome to ecf :)

Some great advice here...as always :) Just to add that if you want to start mixing your own then you'll probably want to get your nic at a reasonable strength (makes it easier to mix with).

Most people buy the 100mg/ml strength....only to be vaped after mixing :)

If you need to know anything else about DIY then just ask :)

Exactly. 100 mg saves a lot of money and freezer space. I have enough nic for 20 years, and there’s still room for pizza!

Yep, I use 100mg salt-based nic and when I mix 50mg juice for pods the base is HALF the bottle I'm mixing. First time I mixed at that level was a wow moment - though simple math should have made it obvious. Just a bit of a eye-opener after mixing 6mg juice for so long then suddenly using over 8x as much base.

Yes and 100 is a nice easy figure to work with :)

Great, thanks for the info. I do think the person who told me used MTL and mixed, just guessing but think im in the ballpark, 32mg. So if like you say up higher you see some reduction that makes sense from their experience. Low not noticable.
I use 100mg freebase, at 3 to 4 mg, depends on the flavours I mix. Some reduce the throat hit so I use 4 mg, others dont and those I mix at 3 mg. I DTL vape.
