Since we’ve completely hijacked this thread I figured I’d keep it going. You may have seen this but if you haven’t it’s a must watch. Mommy Dead and Dearest, it’s a documentary on hbo but I think it’s available on other platforms also. Incredible deception and cruelty, it’s true madness, but well done and the story un-freakin-believable.I’ve dated a few crazies...

I was just using VG, but it's too thick, so I ordered some PG, which I found I really hate the aftertaste, so back to VG. I flavor to taste, meaning add flavor, shake it up, taste it, yep, no, add more flavor until I get it just right, no recipe, yikes I should have a recipe so I don't have to go through this everytime.

That's what I was thinking. I found one yesterday that was in Atlanta, I'm in SC, but now I can't find it again.
I haven't tried it myself, but I understand you can cut VG with up to 10% distilled water to thin it if you don't want PG. Maybe someone more experienced with this can chime in.
Ratio of PG/VG is up to how you vape and what your personal preferences are.. Sub ohm vapers usually go for max VG to 80% VG mixes, and mtl vapers usually have a 50/50 PG/VG ratio..
Flavorings go into your PG ratio since most flavors are suspended in PG, and the percentages depends on brand of flavoring and what your wanting to achieve.. most people use between 10-15% flavorings in your mix.
Some of the less common (and more expensive) flavorings such as those made by medicine flower are used at 1% or less if used as the main flavoring, and other brands for your forward or main flavor run around 2-5%, but most recipes are more complex than just one flavor, and you will start out following recipes just like you do when making a meatloaf.
I use 5% to 11% distilled water. Current batch it is 8% last batch was 9.5%.
I think 8 or 9% DW is the right mix for me, now.
I bought the PG Nic base so it doesn't get so thick in the freezer. Since it makes up a very small portion of my mixes it doesn't really affect the 80vg/20pg ratio in my recipes. When in the freezer VG is like molasses.
I haven’t ordered from wizard for years because I got a pretty bad batch once. It was very obviously degraded badly. Was straw yellow and smelled like an ash tray. Good nic should be clear and have no odor. It was years ago though. Perhaps they have improved.
Only water expands when frozen. (approx 10%) Other liquids, like PG/VG/Alcohol contract.

Me again, so still trying to find a nic source. I am looking for someone on the east coast, since I am, and the ship time would be quicker with less warehouse time. I found one, Nicotine Giant, that is in SC, like myself. Anyone know anything about them? If not any east coast suppliers you recommend.
Never used nicotine giant but I have used myfreedomsmokes. I used to get my nicotine base there and always enjoyed it. I changed to nicotineriver since they carried the flavors and the base so I only had to pay shipping once. Oh and myfreedomsmokes is in Charlotte NC. Also some say their nic is peppery but I’ve noticed no such thing. Just something to consider before you purchase. Good luck and I hope you enjoy whatever you decide.

All of my stored nic is in the freezer in 8oz? canning jars with white plastic lids, the jars are filled almost to the tippy top but it doesn't touch the lid. All are clear as water & taste fine. When I pull a jar out to put some in my "in use" jar,,, I let it sit for hours/over night to not get water into the nic.
Flavors all live in a drawer of a cabinet my husband made for me- so its just dark room tempt for them
I tend to buy my vg&pg from Amazon just because its easy enough with my regular shopping,,, But I have bought vg while traveling at Tractor Supply,,, some TS ALSO carry PG from what I hear. In a pinch you can go to the pharmacy area of Walmart & a bottle of vg for about $5,,, I cant remember,, maybe a cups worth.
I don't like to jump around for venders,, trying to keep it simple for myself.
Anyway do what works for you

I just got a liter of 100, PG base, from heartland vapes. Added a 4oz bottle of flavoring to reach $50, free shipping.
The nic looks fine (clear), no odor. It's already rebottled and in the freezer.
I use 4oz bottles for storage, a mix of cobalt blue and amber (which doesn't really matter). One bottle lasts me 200 days, so that seems like a reasonable size for me (nic isn't sitting around open for too long before it is used).
I mark source, strength, manufacturing date on a piece of tape on the bottle, tape the cap, and wrap it in one layer of bubble wrap. Take it out one day before opening it.

Having finally made the decision to DIY after 8 yrs, I just dropped a big order with Nicotine Giant. I'm near Atlanta, so a one day trip on brown once they get the order together. I'll come back and share how it goes when the order comes in.
