Nicked up Batteries

Some of my Trustfire 14500 batts are getting the tops pretty nicked/chewed up on top. This is from getting them in and out of a very tight box mod. I could trim the spring I know but then my other batteries won't fit. Does it hurt the batteries or make them unsafe?

I'd be leary of constant damage to any part of the battery especially near connections. Not sure if you are digging into the protection circuit or possibly working into the battery itself. Think you can SHORT the battery if you arent careful. Probably not an issue at first, but cumulative damage will only accumulate until failure.

I suppose as cheap as batteries are, it would make sense to just replace them. Thanks again.

i toss any damaged battery. i suggest you cut the spring and then use spacers for the smaller 14500s.
