I'd say the main reason that I haven't quit smoking yet (I've yet to order my 1st cig) is depression. But I imagine that this is the case with a lot of people, otherwise why would they have SSRI or SNRI's that supposedly help you quit smoking? I'm happy to hear that nicotine itself has a positive effect on depression. That's probably why I'm drawn to smoke while depressed and not due to some perverse urge to self-harm as I feared. So that's great news in a way. I'm really looking forward to ordering my first kit.
It's not the nicotine that helps that much with depression, it's the MAOI in
tobacco. MAOIs are anti-depressants and relaxants, which offset the stimulating effects of nicotine and keep the boat level. This is why when we make the switch to just nicotine the engine starts racing and the bow raises off the water and we feel overstimulated.
WTA, by way of its other alkaloids, provides more of this balance by supplying this anti-depressant and relaxant effect. In fact, if you choose to just vape WTA, you will find that you are too relaxed, which is a phenomenon reported by users generally. So now the boat has sunken into the water a bit too much.
So the goal is to seek out balance, which is something that no regular nic
juice can provide, WTA doesn't have in itself either, but when you combine the two elements you can achieve everything you are looking for in a vape. To borrow a phrase from the Little River Band, "sailing on the cool and bright clear water."
