Thanks a ton folks! I read as much as possible on here until my eyes strain. I have notes in notebooks and such and am a virgin in liquid making.

After having read through this thread it seemed that vape Clarity had a lot of positive feedback so I went there. Grabbed a half liter last week which is in transit, and another half this week. I have to admit that I'm quite excited to get started. It reminds me of when I first started building rta'S and rda'S. Quite liberating!
Once again, thanks for your time folks!

What three do you have? I place it after Carolina, nude, VT premium. I am also thinking about a gallon of it from nicotine river.

RTS and MFS circa 2013 and Wizard Labs circa 2014. MFS has a noticeable tang to it but I like it so no big deal.

I went through a small test bottle of Nude in 2015. Couldn't tell the difference between RTS and WL. I've been waiting until this unfortunate day to buy the whole life insurance policy...ugh

I got 3 small glass funnels from Wizard Labs in 2014.
They fit typical plastic juice bottles perfectly.
They fit in the neck without sliding down in :thumb:
They call it - Funnel 40mm Short Stem Glass

On the way to learning DIY, you might find that you like vaping unflavored, which is really simple DIY. I use a bit of flavor here and there, but I'm not picky beyond having a flavor concentrate I like.

My methods are even more crude than Rossum's. I sometimes even mix inside the tank, shake it up, screw it on and vape away.

I feel lucky that I prefer unflavored. I haven't had to mess with flavors for a long time. I don't diy (yet) :)

I'm about to make a large purchase of 100mg nic. Has anyone purchased nic from ECX lately? I've read good things about their nic, but the posts are pretty old. It is currently on sale but I would hate to buy a lot of it and be disappointed.

I buy from ecigexpress (that is ecx, right?) I like it, I haven't bought from anyone else in at least a year. but I am not a nicotine gourmet at all! I do not like a pepper taste and I don't get it from ecx. I vape 6mg nic....unflavored

All my nic is in amber glass bottles because it came that way. But if I were buying empty bottles for long-terms storage in the freezer, I'd probably buy plain, colorless glass. Why? So I could inspect the nic for color-change periodically. Dark glass pretty much precludes that until you actually open a bottle and start to use it.

I put an old (yes, clean) sock over the bottles so they don't crash together in the freezer. :) obviously that takes out light too

Do you buy your nic in the strength that you vape? That's how I would interperate that. If you mix it down to your vaping nic %, then I'd consider that DIY. No need to agree, though.

I am ashamed to say I do :) I do have a few liters of 12mg so I will only have to half it. and I am considering getting higher mg and diluting it. I know it won't be hard, but I'm scared anyway lol

I feel very safe with it up to about 50mg/ml, for me, and the way I do things. That might not apply for everybody. I have a lot of 100mg/ml stored and I've just started using it. First mix made me nervous so I only made a about 2 months worth.

It went well, and I had no problems other than my nervousness.

First time I bought 48mg/ml. Second time 60mg/ml. Third started buying 100mg/ml.

Much of the uncertainty comes from people spreading the word that e.g. 60+ mg/ml nic will burn your skin(e.g one in that video I linked previously "As we all know, 60mg will burn your skin"... !)... If being careful, paying attention and washing any spills up if they happen, then nothing to worry about, like other common household cleaners... Of course one should only use what oneself is comfortable with, period :)

Edit: Just wanted to add that I remember one for in the name of science, would leave a few drops of 100mg(or more than a few, maybe a slight puddle? Can't remember for sure) on him for about 30 mins min. and not even a slight dizziness hapened or anything worse/less... Also, I remember Jimi stating to tasting a drop of 100mg nic on his tongue several times, lol...

Knowing myself, 100mg/ml has more risk for me than other people. My concern is a major spill. This does not apply for everybody.

I'm sitting here with a new burn on my hand from cooking! I'm just an overall klutz!
Dangers, everywhere! I get really nervous using some household chemicals, but never have harmed myself. Burns from cooking, nothing real bad but some very scary close calls.

I try to be as rational as I can about nic handling fears, and I'm improving. I get phobic about lots of things, so the nic thing is nothing really new for me.

Btw, people state you shouldn't smell 100mg directly from bottle but indirectly, and that's probably a good advice, but with some clean nics this often will not produce any sent whatsoever, so I always take 4-5 good whiffs with the nose directly over the bottle rim, as I want to know both the aroma + "stingness-degree" of the nic...

Btw, the well-known lady stating 60mg nic will burn your skin really rubs me the wrong way with some of her comments... She also stated in a podcast where she guest'ed some days ago that taking a mechanical mod for 25 bucks and placing a 0.2ohm build on it is absolutely moronic or something like that... Well, if you don't know your gear/mechs or battery-safety/limits/brands, then OK, but making such general accusations really pisses me off, and also insinuating all cheap clones are crap! Some few are even built better than the original and some with less VD)...

Why? During last summer's blind comparison, I had my both my wife and daughter do exactly that with all the samples. Neither of them has any tolerance to nicotine, and neither of them reported any effect. My wife did once take a single hit from one of my vapes 'cause she thought it smelled so good. She got an immediate nic buzz from that, which she didn't much care for.

I have no problem whiffing it either , want to make sure it doesn't smell bad , i know of no other way.

@Kurt, if you could kindly help me with something, please...

My currently favorite nic is nicobrand from UK, but it's diluted from nicobrand directly to 72mg VG(for EU vendors) with 20% water. When checking current data about freezing-points of various aqueous-glycerol mixtures, then a 80/20 VG/water mixtures freezing-point is -20.3C, and normally domestic freezers in my country is -18C. I know it's not optimal with so much water for long-term storage(as lesser viscosity and more O2), but it's the only nic i've tried that I don't have taste-issues with, except some china nic which i'm leery off stocking up with, or inawera which also uses nicobrand nic but only 36mg max, or some unknown source which is to "dirty-tobacco" tasting, and i'm lawfully forced to only using EU vendors... Would you think under these conditions(-20.3C freezing-point nicbase in -18C freezer) that it/some will actually freeze solid in your opinion? I would like to avoid needing to shake-mix every new bottle taken up from the freezer because it/some had frozen solid(and as to little headroom, then needing to pour into bigger bottle for being able to properly shake-mix it).

Also, if you think it'll be fine, then do I need to use more headroom when filling the bottles than normally?

Ohh, damn.. Just realized that I haven't taken nicotine into consideration when finding the freezing-point of 80/20 VG/water... Hmm, I don't really know how to calculate that...

Thanks in advance!

(Trying first here, before PM'ing, so others possibly could benefit from the answer...)

Hi Kurt mhertz, (DOH)
First...Breath...
Okay.

We cool/freeze the nic to slow the chemical reaction between the nicotine and the oxygen in the bottle.
If you remove the oxygen (argon wine kit), you remove the "oxidizer". Also in a bottle with little headspace, once the oxygen is consumed...wouldn't the oxidation process almost HAVE to stop?
Then you are protecting the bottle from UV light and HEAT. A sealed box that is forced cooled (frost free freezers seem like a bad idea in this case) and dark 99.5% of the time is PERFECT.

Thanks for listening.
Cheers
I

Hi Izan :)

There's still some O2 disolved in the VG/PG itself also, and the argon-purging only removes O2 on-top of the liquid, so oxidation can never be fully "stopped" even with argon-purging. It's the best we can do however, but e.g. Kurt states that he doesn't think the little headspace of non-purged O2 would be much of an issue in a freezed environment with slowed down molecular-movement, but of course certantly doesn't hurt either, if wanting to go all the way possible...

I'm myself just worried about freezing nics with as much water as 20%, as it will possibly freeze solid which I would like to avoid for nic-hotspots/needing-remixing...

Thanks for listening yourself mate :)
