Nicvape doesn't use nicselect for some time now and i'm pretty sure they use chemnovatic, based on the expiry-date which for chemnovatic is always two years except a day. They post 3'rd party COAs which show hexane to be under detection-limit of 0.01%. Many COAs often don't mention hexane or whatever extraction-solvent otherwise used, just related alkaloids and water as only impurities, which is annoying to me.

I'm gonna do a new round off unflavored testings of new batches from chemnovatic, nicselect and nicobrand, the usual EU suspects from most EU vendors. I'm doing it yet again because i've just switched to single-coil builds at low wattage(25W) and higher nic(9mg), which makes it much, much easier to find differences in the nics. Before I was to lazy to rebuild for the testings and only had mechs and 0.1ohm RDAs around, so could only take like max 1 sec draws and not many before getting dizzy/nic-sick. I'm still on the quest for finding the best nic for me to stock up with.

My normally used UK-made nic, nicobrand, has now a slight spicy hot-pepper taste as backnote, not detected before by me at lower nic and higher wattage, hence my will for new round of observations.

Should be interesting to hear your results with higher nic levels.

a year is a long time to remember peppery notes.... tried it recently?
I've gotten the peppery taste every time I've tried mfs, wizard labs, or any other nicotine I've tried.... I had to live w/ it untill nude nic came around but only got one bad batch w/ their stuff. I wouldn't say it's as clean tasting as everyone says, you can def. notice the difference compared to 0 nic, but it's the best I've tried.

in fact mfs had some kind of discount recently and my gf picked up a bottle to freeze w/ the rest, (she doesn't mind the peppery taste) I tried some & coming from a batch made with nude nic, it was unpleasant.... We also have a bottle from wizard labs that's recent, I'd say that one tasted about the same as the mfs.

I use 6% nic & also been strictly DIY'ing for 5-6 years.

Great info, thanks. I think my next order will be NN Smooth nic salts. Just have to give that a try. I don't care for peppery nic.

I'm like you, no pepper!
I think it was a holiday sale, so I bought the Nude Nic smooth salt. 500ml, 100mg. for $50. Made my first mix two days a go, increased my nic level from 10 to 12. So far, I think it's GREAT!

If it helps i vape 10 mg unflavored all the time now. I used to exclusively use NN and RTS. My last litre was my first from MFS. Absolutely no pepper taste at all. Perfectly clean, i could not tell any difference between the three.

Some folks aren't sensitive to peppery nic, some are. Then there's me, super sensitive to it.
Have you ever detected a pepper taste in a nic?

Yes i am very sesitive to peppery Nicotine. Ecig express order i ended up dumping. The same with nicotine river. I hate even a hint of pepper. The MFS i only bought because it was $36 shipped for a litre of 100 mg. I expected the worst but was amazed, clean as a whistle.

Was that $36 with a coupon?

Also, even with nude nic's stuff, I don't thaw out more than 20ml at a time. If I do, say 50ml, by the time I get about halfway through it changes color and starts tasting/smelling bad... If I thaw out a large amount, 100ml or so, it will def. start tasting peppery by the end.

This all has to do with time/heat so everyone will be different depending on what temp it is inside your house and how many mg/ml you use. I buy 100mg/ml nic, vape @12mg, 5-6mls a day, if that helps.

I hate peppery nic. I vape unflavored 6 nic. I was about to suggest ecig express because I never taste pepper in it. maybe I'm not as sensitive to it as I thought!

I've never got an actual "pepper" taste in nic, just varying degrees of throat hit, "nose tingle".
Is this what everyone refers to as peppery nic?

Nose tingle and throat hit are fine with me. When I say peppery taste I mean peppery taste, like someone sprinkled black pepper into my juice.

Yes, it can be both, as stated above. To me it tastes spicy and like the inside of the turkish-pepper sweets(hard candy "drops" from EU with pepper-powder inside), which is spicy, dark-peppery and sweet(from the VG), which is seperate from that nose-tingle feeling, which is a pepper-feeling instead of the pepper-taste, but both can be observed.
On the CXTC nic site's FAQ section, they state that this pepper taste comes from residual solvents, like hexane or kerosene or whatever. The chemnovatic from nicvape, which I don't know for certain is chemnovatic mind you, lists hexane as not being detectable, and they described in a post where they mentioned to have switched from nicselect because of varying batches, that this new nic had no pepper and didn't taste like nic normally does. I'm looking foreward to testing chemnovatic again at low-power/higher nic levels and longer drags. I do remember that it had more of a taste than e.g. nicselect(dark woddy notes, chemnovatic that is), but the pepper-aspect I couldn't detect in the short DTL-hits at roughly 100w(100-130w on full batts depending on mech used, my in-line-voltmeter under load stated) at 10mg, but i'm suspecting that it will be pretty much pepper-free in my new low-power tests.
