Pictures can be deceiving, but my intent is not too - forgive the lack of computer and camera skills.

I started this experiment on 4-28-2013 with 3 - 2ml samples of 100mg/ml of nicotine (all in PG) taken from the freezer and put in clear glass vials and stored in the basement shop. But, and I'll explain later, I will start with a picture of the same nic taken from the freezer on Sunday 7-13-2014. All 3 samples (also put in 8ml clear glass vials) remain clear and I detect no difference in odor - if I were to vape them, as previously done, my guess would be still "air".

From Left to Right

WIZARD LABS, reg.- bought 11-20-2012

RTSVAPES, bought 12-25-2012

RTSVAPES, X-LOT,- bought 4-19-2013

That is quite interesting....I hope you have a gallon of each stored in the freezer...or is hindsight a bad thing to bring up...:D

Did you use argon or anything to top them off?

Well, at least for myself and I guess for the benefit of others as well, I have to say that it's a good thing that I'm not overly sensitive to a "petrochemical" or "pepper" taste. As I said, to me, it's just a heat kind of thing. That's the best I can explain it. But still...they ALL have it.

And as far as I'm concerned, they're all good as long as your nic level doesn't get too high. I vape at 24mg. I was doing 30 but found that it was just too hot and masking flavor. I found this to be true with all of them including VT. And I guess at 24 it's probably hotter and masked more than for the folks who are doing less.

And once again, VT does seem to have less of it than WL and HV but it still does have it. At least to my not so overly sensitive taste.

Let me preface this by saying that, to me, between WL and VT nic, I'll chose VT nic every time, but even with that, I get a slight peppery taste, growing as the day goes on.

I'm extremely sensitive to the taste and feeling of nicotine.

However, with WL, all I tasted was black pepper. With VT nic, I taste my flavors with a hint of black pepper.

I hate being this sensitive to it.

I was debating an order from heartlands glad I held off jimi. Though i know your partial, I don't need more of the alchem. I Still have a cart on vaperstek ready just haven't decided yet. Worried it won't be strong enough for me. Looking more and more like I'll be giving it a try though.

I wish I got peppery from the WL. I just don't. All I want is a peppery nic that isn't damn rubbery now.

Jeremy, order the VG nic base from VT. There is a bit more bite compared to the PG nic base.

@Jimi, I dont think Hearland Nic is bad at all... There is not funky going on there as you say? Maybe you are more sensitive to nicotine, but i get a clean taste out of the nicotine.

krew,

I'm much more in agreement with you about HeartlandVapes nic than I am with Jimi. I was not surprised but a bit disappointed by the harshness of his judgment about HV nic, because the way he described it is not even close to my experience.

I've been alternating WizardLabs nic with HeartlandVapes nic since August of last year. The Wizard is used up now, but I kept both in the refrigerator and filled as needed a 30ml bottle that I keep at my workstation. The only difference I've noted between the Wizard and Heartland nics is that the HV has yellowed somewhat more than the WL over its year in the fridge. Some people demand crystal-clear nic; personally, I don't mind a little yellow tint, presumably from oxidizing. I could never discern any difference between WL and HV in smell, taste, or impact on flavorings.

I have an ample stash of 100mg/ml nic in the freezer---another liter of Heartland, a liter of RTS, and half a liter of MFS---but I'm thinking of ordering a smaller bottle of the Vaperstek UK-sourced liquid nic, mainly because numerous thread participants have extolled its virtues.

Jimi's bad experience notwithstanding, I'll continue to use HeartlandVapes liquid nic I have in the fridge quite happily until it's gone, when I'll probably thaw out one of the other brands I have frozen. While I like and respect many of the knowledgable participants on this thread, I take what anyone else says with a grain of salt. I am the ultimate authority where my own vaping is concerned, and I feel fine about HeartlandVapes liquid nic.

I took a whiff when I first received it. Smelled like a .......ed tire shop.

When I popped open the liter I bought, I also got a strong plastic/rubber smell. Thinking that maybe this odor was caused by a combination of the warm shipping temperatures experienced while in the cheap plastic container it came in, I immediately transferred the nic. into glass bottles. I tried not to splash it too much during the transfer and left the caps off for an hour.

I opened one of the bottles the next day and I could not sense any of the plastic/rubber odors from the day before. Nor could I sense it in any of the juices I later made.

Do I like the HV nic.?? Yes

Is it as clean as VT? Not to me.

I'm glad I was pointed to this thread, very informative and a good read.

WL was my first nic, it was clear & had good TH, I was probably too Green a Vaper to notice a pepper taste/effect. My second nic was HV, like Bill, the only difference to me was the color, flavor seemed the same.

One woman at work I mix for did notice a different taste to her juice, and she's a picky Vaper, but got used to the HV flavor. My third purchase was NN, in the Freezer, this was as clear as WL, but I haven't tested for flavor, waiting to finish my HV. All nics were 100mg/ml @50/50 blend.

Well to date I have tried the Wizards lab nic , the nic offered by vaperstek, nude nicotine and ecigexpress and one other but cannot think of the name . So far out of them all the one that stood out for me as being good and shipped the best was by Wizard Labs love the way they bag the nic and ship it top shelf and the price at 15 for 120mls @100mg was awesome . Don't get me wrong the other where just as good cannot really say they where better but cost was rather high ending up at almost 30.00 bucks shipped for 120mls ...I used these nicotine base liquids to make my custards . Maybe in 2 weeks I will re-evaluate and see what if any have taste other than the custard ..But so far tested fresh no peppery essence and all pretty good ..I am happy very happy...

I'm confused. I've purchased and used about a liter of WL nic in the past. How in the world can people say they can't taste the pepper and 'ickey' afternotes? When I was using WL exclusively, I thought I was a horrible juice mixer which confused me because I can cook real good. :) A few of my blends were great, but now I realize it's because the pepper etc complimented those few tobacco mixes.

Maybe the folks that can't taste it recently quit smoking and the taste buds are still dead?

When I cook I use unsalted butter so I can control the salt flavor in the pot. When I make juice I want to control the amount of pepper taste in the bottle. Most of the time I like no pepper. Today I'm vaping a freshly mix of what I call Bellini Tobacco. Inawera Cuban Cigar absolute with peach and raspberry. A tiny but of salt might compliment the mix, pepper would be blech. BTW, it's delicious :)

Bill, I'll give you a nickles worth of free advise. Don't order VT nic. I too have a stash of other vendors nic in the freezer. Myself and tons of others that ordered VT nic 'just to try it'. Now I'm faced with the dilemma of what to do with that other nic. I can't force myself to use it anymore, or to dump it. I think I'm just gonna keep it then in 2020 or so I'll be able to intelligently contribute to those threads wondering how long nic will keep in the freezer.

You'll order the "test" bottle of VT nic. You'll vape it in an unflavored base first to see what it tastes like. You'll be floored at the nothing! I vaped a full 4ml tank of unflavored on day one because it was so incredible not tasting anything at all.

That's funny. I got the small bottle of VT just to try it out. I think it's too bland to vape unflavored. I've been vaping Heartland unflavored sometimes and enjoying it. The heartland has a bit more bite to it, I get no unpleasant taste or smell from it. It's not strong, just barely noticeable. Unlike my RTS -
I've had a working bottle of RTS out of the freezer for about 6 months and it's turned rather unpleasant. I also found a small bottle of Wizard Ice in the back of my vape box, it's got to be just as old and tastes great.

I agree. I've been an unflavored vaper since I've joined here and found the Ultraclear (VT, ExtremeVaping, ect.) not great for that purpose.

Pepper, or whatever is in WL gave me what I was missing. I never thought of it as pepper, just a good "Mouthful" kind of thing.

Isn't your WL Ice going to be too bland for you then?
